It wasn't that much better, after the A Grade had finished as the photo shows on one of the previous posts. The ground was covered with over an inch of ice & the fairways next door on Blackwood Golf Course appeared as if they were blanketed with snow.

Did any of the other games get the hail we had at Ironbank.

He is struggling this year - think Mt Barker are ruing the day they recruited him now. Hear he is sleeping with a number of the players wives at the club - which is not going down well. Wayne Carey of the Hills Central division.
Have even heard reports that he is doing the same at his work place Elders - he cannot help himself lately.

Was Brett Heinrich the captain of a BLG side?? Not sure if he's the wayne carey of the hills, certainly hasn't been dominating like the King once did, infact as far as i know he's been barely noticeable, certainly has been the two times he's played against Mt Lofty. As for his prowess with the WAG's, i wouldn't know.

Re Hail

From the posts from McLaren Footy Club and Jalem 19 who may be from Myponga it seems as if the Myponga Oval copped a fair hammering of rain and hail

No nothing to do with a BLG club he is actually from Mt Barker but has played in the Southern League before going OS. He is from the Heinrich clan that played at Sturt many a year ago. Just know him and wanted to see how he is was going. Sounds as though no good with the footy but pretty well with the ladies.

The Brett Heinrich i know is 6 feet tall and built like an outback dunny.
Strong as a bear, as quick as a cheetah and can jump higher than a gazelle!

Oh no sorry i was thinking about someone else. Sorry Rabbit!!!
He did win the Mail Medal in the GSFL in 2001 though at Langhorne Creek so obviously can play a bit.

The Hahndorf team with their new recruits are a lot different to the ones we played earlier this year. :(

Sammy did play, as GTS said was unlucky not to play with Sturt this week but Reilly dropped late from Crows, flow down effect and the kid needed a game.
Are you sure Barker B Grade best team seen this year? I know that they beat Ironbank but Blackwood are surely the ones to beat? Barker may have played some good footy but not against us.

Sorry Spearhead I was switching my grades, I was referring to Mt Barker A Grade.

They obviously did OK in the wet it will be interesting to see how they go, if it dries out.

Find it funny that the umpires are training on Ironbank Oval this week due to it being in better condition in regards to not being a bog compared to other ovals in the league. FUNNY because only a few weeks ago this was unplayable according to the Man in the know OWEN. How things change so quick in the Hills!! Crap one week - Beautiful the next!!!!! :butthead:

It's set to be a very interesting final 2 rounds with the make up of the Final 5 far from decided. Aside from Lofty having already cemented the minor premiership 2nd-5th is up for grabs.

Current Ladder
Lofty 14wins 2 losses 73%
Blackwood 12W4L 62.7%
Uraidla 11W5L 65%
Barker 11W5L 61.9%
Hahndorf 10W6L 62.9%
Onka's 9W7L 54.4%

Final 2 Rounds

Lofty v Ironbank
Uri's v Hahndorf
Birdwood v Barker
Onka's v Bridgy
Loby v Blackwood

Hahndorf v Lofty
Ironbank v Birdwood
Blackwood v Uri's
Barker v Onka's
Loby v Bridgy

Blackwood - If they win their last two will finish 2nd. Wil smash Lobethal this week but if they go down to Uri's could finish 3rd and are still a small chance of finishing 4th but they would have to lose to Uraidla and Mt.Barker would have to win their last two by big margins.
Uraidla - two very tough games. Will finish 2nd if they beat Hahndorf & Blackwood but if they drop both could finish as low as 5th depending on other results.
Mt.Barker - Mathematically could still finish 2nd but likely to win their last two against Birdwood & Onka's and finish either 3rd (If Uraidla lose at least 1 of their last two) or 4th (If Uraidla win their last two)
Hahndorf - The sleeping giants. A small chance they could finish 3rd but have to play Uri's and Lofty in their last two and if they drop both of them could finish out of the 5 if Onka's win their last two. One win will get them at least 5th. Two will most likely get them 4th but could sneak them into 3rd if Mt.Barker drop one and Uri's lose to them and Blackwood. Have taken some time to gel but seem to have put it all together at the right time of the season and if they make the 5 are a huge premiership threat.
Onkas - Need to win both games to be any chance. Will smash Bridgy this week but given their poor percentage they need to rely on Hahndorf dropping both games to sneak into 5th spot and must beat Barker at Barker in the final round.

How does everyone think the final 5 will finish?

I should have known better! Lofty As played dry weather footy in the wet and lost it as much as Barker won it. They have won some crucial games this year but still a bit Nunan-dimensional.
We want Vaughn.

Agree the surface can be somewhat harsh, just have to look at my knees. However, the sand has helped the drainage no end and with some re-seeding the oval should come up trumps. Will be interesting to see what sort of a surface we have next season if the right steps are taken, just might set an example for other clubs to follow.

GTS - Fair point pal about getting cut up - my legs look like they have been taken to with a cheese grater after the weekend - just having a bit of shot pal - as found it funny it has been moved to our ground after being threatened for reallocation of games due to the condition of our oval- How is Mt Lofty oval looking for this weekend - as bad as people are puuting on here?

Boys, on oval surfaces, I was chatting to a very in the know hills footy personality a couple of weeks ago who was saying that Uraidla used to be appauling in winter. Back in the 80's it was a condemable mud pit, but year after year, they pumped the sand out onto it and look at it now.

Obviously this wont work at every oval, but I can probably see it working at Cherry Gardens. Lofty and Bridgy are a different story apparently Bridgy because of the creek and being cut into the hill on a bed of solid rock and Lofty for the same reason less the creek. I think Coco even had an analysis done on the draining and how it could be improved, but apparently given that the oval was cut out of bedrock, when it really pisses down water just sits in pools below the surface with nowhere to go. We've even had a small spring pop up through the rocks at one stage if I recall correctly.

Following on from above, no reason why Mt Ronnie cant sand the crap out of their oval to sort it out. Might bury some of the diseases and crap in that stinkpit too.
