Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

Postby Justquietly » Mon Aug 14, 2006 11:29 am

Fair bit of talk about next year...I'd rather focus on something interesting.
Lobey, if in the 5 at the end of all this, may well do OK. Gave the Devs a big run and were a little unlucky. Devs must still learn to kick straight, Uri's won't allow that sort of leniency.
BM - spot on with the sniper, fully deserved what he got.

JQ & BM i am not really up with this "sniper" business from loebethal. Are they playing some kind of meathead across their backlines belting blokes?? pretty ordinary if thats the case, because i reckon the Hills league is the cleanest country league around in regards to d#@kheads taking cheap shots!
TDU tells me Onkas were quite impressive on the weekend, are they a threat against the top 2?

Only 2 i wouldnt have in there are Wait, missed too many games, And Mehta, hasnt done enough.
Wouldve though pucker richards was a shoo-in, and Feijen and Nunan have had solid years in teams that have struggled

Are you kidding?!??!? Mehta hasn't done enough? What game have you been watching? Well deserved i say! Do agree with Wait though.

And in regards to 'sniper' from lobey, if its who im thinking, i wished O'Gorman had gone in a little harder when he took him on. One of the dirtiest players Ive seen in a while, a lot of behind the action play, a few of the Lofty boys were defintely left with sore heads... im glad Lobey lost with antics like that.

Scores from the weekend as follows:

Uraidla Dist 14.14 (98) d Mt Barker 6.7 (43)

Mt Lofty 9.15 (69) d Lobethal 8.8 (56).

Onkaparinga Valley 17.14 (116) d Ironbank 8.9 (57)

Hahndorf 26.22 (178) d Bridgewater 15.9 (99).

Country:

not too sure, but Meadows cleaned up Echunga yesterday

Indian - meathead at best. Has been doing it for years. I saw him strike 3 times during the game, then picked the wrong bloke. I too think he deserved a harder hit.
Ironic though that he hit the deck quicker than a 2 bob hooker when someone stood up to him. Had a chuckle.
Wasn't near the ball all day.

all due respect and nothing against grainger as coach, but do you think the coach lofty had last year, the one who got them outta the s**t would have the side playing even better footy?

it would be impossible to say, though with the talent that lofty have in the a grade side they would do well with nearly any coach, they could have made jeff southgate look like he could coach..and believe me, that would have been difficult

Indian - As far as this years sqaud leaving I would not have a clue. Lots of rumours of the youngsters leaving but they've been all proven wrong. Couple of the 'recruits' have said they're staying and hold the money cos they luv the club. A couple of the other ones are still undecided. Matt Smith will be a handy return due to lack of key position players. Possibly Damien Allen from a knee injury.
No idea how the club feels about the coaching position. The team is by far the youngest going around so theres only improvement ahead. Experienced FF, CHF, ruckman must be the priorities though.

Young small players get alot of the ball but return of Russel and Smith Type players would have the team winning again. Perhaps a possible return to the thunderdome for these 2 is on the cards? Indian you seem to know a bit bout these guys... do u think the chance to help grow and teach a young team would entice these 2?

KB was a great coach and a good player in his day. I spoke to Grainger saturday after the game and he was very disappointed with his team. He speaks very highly of KB and always acknowledges that KB got the lofty out of the losing streak.

Winger, I dont beleive IB will see the likes of Russell in the near future. (but im sure fingers are crossed) as for Brad Smith, ive heard a rumour... where are you Mythbuster Thunder Down Under? is it true we may see the big forward lining up in a Ironbank top again?

Also thunder, ur comment about "as for the B grade, im over it" u sound quite bitter? is there anything behind that.. Sure there might be a few players you believe shouldnt play, but if YOU were coach.... would you not want the best possible side come finals? just curious.

Oh, and winger..as for the Coaching side of things.. i think it would be very harsh to remove daniel Exelby this year after losing the spine of the team and the average age of the A grade what... 21? I think Coaching at Ironbank next will will remain the same for A and B grade..

You are correct PF, Matt Smith is in the USA working but also playing for the NY Magpies and looking forward to competing in the USA championships in Las Vegas in October after that he will be returning to Oz. He has never played anywhere else but IB.

Shane Russell will not return to IB, I have stated this on the forum previously, Smith I'm not so certain about but will keep my finger on the pulse for you although to date I have not heard those vibes.

As for the B Grade issue there is nothing bitter about it, I get on very well with Gaz Campbell and he knows my views on the matter. I personally would have loved to see the A Grade get off the bottom and they may quite well do that this week against Blackwood if they play 4 quarters of direct football. I ask you, why didn't the A Grade coach want the best side possible playing in his team each week. No one remembers who came 4th or 5th in a B Grade comp as I doubt they can go all the way but people do remember who won the wooden spoon. I do agree with you that the coaches will remain unchanged as I doubt anyone else will apply for the gigs.

very good points made all round Thunder, Could make it more difficult to recruit next year also for Ironbank with the "wooden spoon" burden. WIll be intresting to see how things go for the Thunderers.
Will Brad Smith line up for Blackwood this week? or has he made another retirement? As you have stated, i think Ironbank could be a good chance this week at home if they can bring the 4 quaters together.. but time will tell. Any further changes to the possible line up of A grade TDU with the b grade still "qualifying" players for finals..

ha...ha..ha... funny guy straight shooter. geez, few people ganging up on the Ironbank team over something that has been done since way before the season of 2006. Why is it such a hot topic of qualifying players to B grade now?? Is it because you have something against the Ironbank team? please..do tell.

Anyway, for your information SS, I hate to dissapoint you, but I dont believe any retired players will be playing "colts" this week, or Auskick..shall we leave that for you SS?

past forw AND WINGER NO BIG DEAL just pisses me off that B's finals bigger than getting A's right. Keep reading IB got lot of good kids running around. Would have thought finish off in style and set up for next year. Give kids something to look forward to. Who will want to have a RUN FOR WOODEN SPOONERS?

Footballers who look forward to a challenge. Footballers who look forward to changing a teams fortunes around. Footballers who recognise promise and potential. Footballers who recognise a great club when they find one.

Yet after all that I do agree that there is a point where things have gone too far. And possibly that has been reached already. A's should still be fielding as close to full strength as possible within reason.
