Echunga cannot guarantee the 5 teams the HFL demand no U13 this year.

Also after losing over 35 senior players this year are only on a year by year/week by week proposition so well done to Bas to get them up to win the GF.
He has been able to work wonders with the squad he had this year!

Maybe ironbank and blackwood as they are close by and have been doing some joint things this year. IB have junior probs as well. Maybe lofty have approached ironbank. That would make more sense seeing the past history although why would ironbank want to anyway. Interesting times ahead.

Also the annual HFL clubs leaving to join SFL rumours have started on the SFL forum.

I'm told Central Div will only require 4 sides on a Saturday as of 2014. This is mainly done to suit Uraidla.
So Echunga would be crazy not to explore the idea.

Turn it up.... Everyone knows its the HFL who helped Echunga out in winning the flag, not so much the coach. All Bas did was use the extra points to recruit some quality players, not look to develop kids or bring in fringe players from Central Division clubs to add depth to their squad. A very short sited approach. For a club to be handed an additional 5 points after being in the top two over the past few years is nothing short of a disgrace. How the hell are the other clubs meant to close the gap when they get this level of support. I really feel for the clubs like Nairne, Meadows, Gumeracha and Maccy.

Apart from their A's the rest of the club is struggling for numbers. They would be foolish to go up as it just isn't sustainable.

Maybe the HFL need to use the same approach as the River Murray when it comes to the points system and reduce a teams points if the are dominating the competition, as surely it is better for everyone if the competition is more competitive as a whole.

I think back door sums you up quite nicely, you want to shut it though because your opinions are rooted.

Echunga lost players to the central division, lost its arguably three best juniors and plenty more. There are currently not the numbers at the club which is why two points extra were awarded to field Coen Taylor who was a fringe player! He came to Echunga with another local after playing two games total of footy in 2012 and moving to town. However if Coen didn't play then they couldn't play other points players in his place so how is this 5 points and a lack of recruiting fringe players? 3 senior. Lots were also promoted and played a'grade along with a 4th who played in the GF. So again - you're WRONG

This points debate was done to death and after scrolling back you'll notice the facts:
Echunga have played below their points allocation in more than 90% of their games
Their additional points you spoke of have been stripped after the meadows football club wrote a somewhat grammatically challenged letter of complaint in round 2.
The remaining points allocation is for an 18 year old boy who played 3 games in 2012 and as Gus has notified can not be transferred to another player if the kid doesn't play!
Credit where it's due peanut! The demons lost 33 players in one hit! Boohoo but at least they've gotten over it and are getting on with the important stuff like.... Playing footy - your boys should try that...

buckle in....here comes the echunga apologist again. poor echunga, all their players left so they need to recruit.

33 players lost from last year, really? not sure how you even can put out a b grade team on the park each week. i did note it was only 17 players lost according to you earlier in the year, so it must have been a bad may and june period.

pity some of the money spent on high priced recruits hasnt been used on junior development

Can feel the love for the Echunga Football Club. Hope they choke again :finga:

I feel sorry for Echunga this year who have the bye last round, then have the first week of finals off and then if they win have another week off.
That's one game in 5 weeks!

Welcome to the Norwood of the Hills :)
Same colours too but can they win the Premiership?[/quote]

Champ comes through showing his true colours. Congrats for taking a cashed up, points allocated up club to a premiership in the most boring country footy comp in SA. Hopefully the HFL stick them up in the Central Div next season as punishment for them crying wolf this season

What's happening with the divisions in the HFL next year? It's clear Country Div is a bit of a mess. Something needs to change, are there any plans in place for 2014?

Here's one to ponder - Northern Div and Southern Div as opposed to Central and Country. Little birdie says maybe on the cards in a year or two. Interesting common sense concept. You may be surprised geep8370 but some may know more than you. If you are a lofty boy ask your club president who they have approached to amalgamate - be surprised. :D :D :D :D I think it be great for your club and the comp.

Pretty well sums it up

And didn't Champ's tears fill the Happy Valley reservoir last year when he took an undefeated team into a GF? Spose he got it right this season

The HFL do however need to fix the problem before becoming a basket case like the SFL already is
