Well done Lindsay Bassani and the Demons. I missed the game but apparently Milang Panthers were well represented :D

So are Echunga going to elevate themselves to the stronger Central Division where there's a bit more stability in junior footy??
Or are the Demons happy to be a big fish in a little pond??

Ironically Echunga would knock Mt Lofty into Country Div. I'd imagine if that were the case they pick up quite a few Lofty players particularly junior players. It'd be a smart move to take promotion to Central Div.

Good point rock, can anyone from Echunga comment on whether the club is considering promotion to Central Div?

Would Echunga take the challenge?

Could be some hard decisions made by the hfl in the coming months.

How are Echunga's junior numbers looking? Could they comfortably field all five sides each week?

With Country Div hanging on by a thread particularly at junior level they'd be crazy not to accept a new challenge.
I think Echunga have 4 of the required 5 grades with no U13s but I have also heard Central Div might only need 4 sides on game day as of next year.

Lofty won't go down from what I hear. Who are the two cenltral clubs talking about a possible merger and being encouraged by hfl head quarters to do so. Just think would have 4 teams in seniors and many many juniors. Believe discussions include having juniors and a senior in different comp as well on Sunday's. Would upset some oldies but be a powerful club almost straight away echunga or kersbrook could then look to come up.

I think they struggle to field the 2 junior teams.

Haven't heard anything about central clubs merging, can you elaborate.

I've suggested before that if Maccy & Echunga merged & also Kersbrook & Gum, they would make very competitive sides in central div & also be able to field all junior sides. Would be best to do it now rather than wait a few years until they get as bad as Callington got.

spent a great day at macclesfield yesterday and took the chance to chat with a few echunga people while there. can confirm that they have no interest in moving to central division.

as for a merger between two central division clubs, one may be uraidla who are in real trouble with lack of juniors and who may soon be unable to meet the demands of the hfl in relation to fielding junior teams in central div.

I reckon lofty would be one to look at a merger now they have seen Bridgey go down that path. Maybe ironbank and blackwood as they are close by and have been doing some joint things this year. IB have junior probs as well. Maybe lofty have approached ironbank. That would make more sense seeing the past history although why would ironbank want to anyway. Interesting times ahead.
