River Murray Football League talk

Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

What a fantastic advertisement for country football on Saturday. The way both Ramblers and Mypolonga played was an absolute credit to both clubs. Both teams played attacking footy, unfortunately there always has to be a winner and loser. Mypo would be devistated after leading all day, Ramblers would still be wondering how did that happen. A real Cracker of a Grand Final

I'm led to believe Tim has re-committed to Kingston

Jervois: Coulter to get the nod. White staying. Rumours they offered a ruckman from Willaston $1500 a game.
Tailem: Bowen to coach. Will McDonald and Sharples stay? apparently not.
Mannum: Expect the Barossa boys to stay. Hearing a couple of their older stars are looking to play in town.
Meningie: Very quiet. Brunoli moving on, but some good recruits will be lined up to take his place.
Imps: Wait to YPFL is getting stronger by the day, expect the rest to stay on.
Mypo: Geno to try out in town?
Ramblers: Will keep majority of players and possibly add a couple.

Rumours doing the rounds at the BLG GF on Saturday that Diddles Harvey set to take up the position of A grade coach back at his beloved panthers.

No statement made yet by the club, apparently the big fella wants to get through the Roos B&F first before he heads home...?

Are you serious? Mannum are going to waste more money on an ageing bloke who clearly by the end of this season couldnt keep up?

Yeah I admit he was a great player but in all seriousness Mannum need to get fair dinkum and stop looking for experienced players as going on recent history, its the young up and coming sides performing well in this comp.

On a quick note, not many would know this but Darren Hein who would have been a superstar player had it not been for knee reco's and hamstring problems broke his collar bone in the first quarter in the GF on the weekend. He missed the last 2 with hammy & knee problems so soldiered through the pain to run the game out, not complaining once about the pain. TOP EFFORT!

You can't say diddles is a waste of money!! He may be getting older but he still gets in and under for a hard ball. One of the toughest blokes going around.

IMO yes I can. From what I have seen of him you would be happy to have him in your side still but to be paying him is another question. Why not use that money & buy two younger blokes (mid 20's maybe) who you could end up getting 5-10 years of good footy out of them.

Not disrespecting what he has done and his ability to get the hard ball but he is well past his prime and not worth half of what it is rumoured he gets paid. I'd say offer him some petrol $ and see if he wants to come and if so, gladly have him in the side

Diddles is a great player and a great clubman. Whilst he is older, he provides a lot of leadership and plays tough uncompromising footy which our younger players can learn from. After the club lost Quinn, Boughen, Wakefield, Smithson, Harte and to a lesser degree Waterhouse, we needed a lot more leadership and Diddles brings that in spades!

Ramblers - In 2013 they will be playing under a new coach and will bring Luke Button, Adam Thomson and Ben Dougall back in. Will lose Mundy and may lose Gogel to Sturt

Mypolonga - Losing Martin who is the only certainty havent heard of any pick ups

Imperials - Losing Wait to Paskerville and have almost signed Casey Carr and Zeb Kenny making a return
and also add the juniors like - DeMichele's Rance Hollit Dailtz

for the rest i dont know alot about these are things i have heard while sharing a few drinks with a few from each club over the weekend.
