Who are Echunga's high priced recruits. I can only think of Elijah Ware. who has turned up late in season and from all accounts playing for little due to knowing the coach.

Jed mcclure and josh newnham but i wouldn't think they would be in the higher echelons of player payments.

Obviously the likes of carey and fleet ,etc. are still there. But i wouldn't describe it as a massive recruiting season. A few young indigenous kids who have come with Bassani have been handy as well.

I would put Echunga's good season so far down to the usual suspects of the previous few seasons.

Given the massive list of outs who are the usual suspects from seasons past?

Most ovals are under water & apparently weather is to get worse. Having said that its clear skies at the moment & has been for a few hours, so maybe a premature call & the games could have gone ahead. I suppose its a duty of care thing & a decision had to be made early.

plus the fact that you can't cater for every contingency and even with clear skies ovals will still get chopped up if they are already in an ordinary state.

My understanding is Echunga have lost their players for 3 reasons:

1. Some have retired
2. Some have gone to play elsewhere for more money
3. The coach is a flog

I'd say the majority are based on 3.

I reckon there would be a good 12 -14 still playing from last seasons GF. plus the likes of Nick Sheehan who is a club stalwart playing regular consistent A grade.

I think where the player losses are being felt the hardest is in the twos and results thus far would be showing that.

Agree 100% about the two's, some of the younger lads will develop quicker with better players around them in the two's, It is what it is though!

Interesting decision in hindsight with Birdwood's year thus far why they didnt go with McGahey for Coach. How much more has Bayzand bought to the table? would have been better chance of keeping their team from last year as well as a few recruits with Magoos contacts. I reckon they would be more competitive than they are now. Biggest problem for them is not having an inside player that McGahey was to compliment the other 20 outside players..

What's the deal with the old coach not being there any more. Heard that this just happened out of the blue. A bit rough to go halfway through the season I would have thought.
Was the camp not happy with performances??
