Did Echunga find out about all the coaching posts Bassani applied for this season and sack him? Virginia was definitely one of them but he missed out.
No I think Fleet is just regarded as simply a better bloke and coach than the last one.
let’s hope Fleet has more in his bag of tricks than Basani when it comes to crunch time in a final… relied on emotion not tactics to try and get the boys over the line at 3 qtr time in the GF
What else you supposed to do at 3 quarter time in a g.f it's all about who wants it more and a ounce of luck .u would think game plan you've had all year is drilled in to the blokes and u ain't gonna change it for 1 quarter

He probably had an interview for another footy coaching position

You seem to really wanting to be pushing the envelope here; clearly a case of sour grapes but at least try and be accurate with your poor attempts and starting innuendo love.

Bassani applied for the coaching position of the Virginia FC for season 2013. FACT

I'll throw another one out there. Byron Pickett to Millicent FC

All jokes aside, I think you will find Bassani always wanted to stay at Echunga. There may have been a few issues over the off season which may have caused him to apply for alternative positions, but they were sorted out pretty quickly.

In regards to last year, yeah, grand final day may not have been his greatest few hours, but at the end of the day, you live and you learn. Brett James is no mug and coached that game particularly well. I think you will see a mcuh different Basssani this year, a little wiser from lessons learnt.

Watched the Birdwood trial game today. An excellent display of umpiring from the two chaps in the middle. Think their names were Cosi DaVito and Johnsy. Must be a good level of umpiring if this was an indication.

Dropped in on the way home from crabbing at Parham. Yes it was Vito Cossi and the famous impact umpire. Mad Dog could learn a thing or two from these gents.

Was a great day at Birdwood, the burger bar was brilliant to compliment the warm hospitality. I'm not the only one it seems who noticed the umpiring. Constantly talking to the players on the field educating and encouraging players on both teams. This is obviously the ump they call Impact, and an impact he did have. Instigated a very well officiated game which was played in great spirits. Is he the umpires coach up this way?

well they have spent a lot of money on there oval and facilities over the last few years to deserve these finals. The oval and facilities have gone from one of the worst in the league to one of the best so maybe money well spent.

Will go into bat for Bassani on this one that he did in fact have a softball final on that particular friday night. Had played most of the season so it would be hard to turn around and say "sorry boys but I can't play in the finals"

yes well done HFL . Maccy's survival i think would be a concern and they would have been looked upon as one of 2 or 3 clubs that would have struggled to compete this season. So hopefully they now have a competitive year. decent oval for finals so yes well done HFL.

ROUND 1..... Anyone see any upsets happening here?
Birdwood Vs Kangarilla - Will be a long first Trip for Kangarilla I think Birdwood Up by over 10 Goals.
Sedan Cambrai Vs Macclesfield - Has the recuiting by Macclesfield been worth It, I still think they will be too strong for Sedan and get up by over 20 goals +
Kersbrook Vs Echunga - Lots and Lots of OUT's for Echunga I can see this one blowing out. Kersbrook by over 10 goals .
Nairne Bremer Vs Gumeracha - Might be the closest one of Round but see Nairne just getting up over Gums in this 1st Round by 5 goals.

If you're still upset about the montgomery comment, was just pointing out that he couldn't have been considered a loss last year because he hasnt been a regular player up there since 2010
