They ar estill going to be known as the Bridgewater Raiders though I think. Its a takeover more than a merger, or at least that's my impression.

It was a merger (9 part bridgy, 1 part cally). The Bridgewater Raiders name however will not change until after the 2014 season, when it will be put to a vote at the AGM.

And Bridgewater will have their oval.

Bridgy could have called their C Grade the Bridgewater/Callington Eagles, that is where all the Callington blokes will be. Would have at least kept Callington as a name in the HFL.

Judging by the training numbers at Bridgewater I would say no.

Pathetic sell-out by so-called Callington club officials who claimed they had the club at heart. It's dead. Quote me at the end of May if they're still fielding a C Grade between them.
Older, wiser and been there. But still love that grassroots country footy.

Very smart move by Bridgewater. Got a great oval for mid winter and the Kanmantoo Mine sponsorship. Kept their name and jumper. Hardly a merger. I think The Crumber is spot on.

Kanmantoo Mine sponsorship is not anything to really sprook about, yeah its money in the clubs pocket but only 5K per year.

The ability to host finals and junior carnivals should earn the club a few bucks. THe biggest win is not having to play in the swamp in July. Well worth a short trip up the freeway to play on a big dry deck for both teams playing on the day.

The cally comittee was made up of junior parents who wanted their kids to get a game every week with their friends. THis is why their senior teams stuck at it for so long in country division - so their juniors could play, and why they approached bridgey about the merger. There has been quite a few kids out to training so far (the U17s are training with the seniors at the moment), I dont think the drive will put off too many of the parents, especially as they car pool.

But with all the gaps in the Div 2 junior teams, they could have been accomodated into the programme, and the seniors still play in the C's.
