CDFC don't hang on to many players that haven't cracked league before age 21.

DB the Special General Meeting is on 10/2/09 to consider draw. Needed 5 clubs to agree to get a SGM but will need at least one more to change it. BLG Directors etc. not very happy but neither are Barossa clubs. Barossa, Freeling and Kapunda hold the key. Gawler and Barossa clubs agree to disagree at this stage and will probably vote as blocks on anything from now on. The football public in the Barossa view the whole thing as a Gawler takeover and aren't happy that another community group is being s*** on. Obviously the Gawler clubs view it as Barossa running the comp. My gut feeling is that it will fail by one and season will start with 2 games on 18th and 2 games on 19th. As far as I know PH only one club has a pre set social event and that's your beloved Willaston's '99 reunion which was touted months ago and is based on hosting Ango. As for trial matches scenario the only one disadvantaged would be the team with the first bye. I would think most coaches would try to avoid the week before so as not to risk injury. In some comps (eg APFL) the first bye team isn't allowed to play a trial game!
Jarryd Cole returning is a boost for the comp, I think he could be a dominant player but also wouldn't be surprised if another SANFL club speak to him. I'll miss Vin Cattogio (Ben Spiteri), I like his enthusiasm. Surprising though I thought Wacka was his mentor. Brendan Niklaus a big loss too as his presence stretches the opposition's key defenders. Have emailed a mate in Darwin to see what he knows. Drifter your right about players not coming back to the NTFL after Xmas but usually its because their team is being flogged or they are, but sounds like this bloke didn't go South for the festivities. Tough comp with weather a huge factor. Has anyone heard that they have given the SANFL the flick and are going to have a run in the QAFL.

Seem like a long wait for this to be sorted the second week of Feb. Cole played a few games for us last year.

Sitting back and watching a few clubs trying control the competition is one way to spend a preseason.

Seems that the barossa clubs will be spewin that they weren't more organised and they didn't communicate with the BLG directors when they should have - 12 months ago.

Assuming the comp revloves around your club is the mistake that angaston has made sunblower and its hilarious to watch you blame everyone else but yourself.

I hope the clubs get behind the BLG directors and support whatever decision they make because our comp doesn't need this crap, we're better than that.

Big call coming from a Port Magpies supporter! LOL!

Seriously though, in my dealings in and around the BL&G, I've found most blokes are straight up. You don't get too many at all of the type Freeling has just experienced.

On another note, how is Willaston's recruiting going Don? Have heard some outs, but no ins yet.
What about at South Edgar and Tex? A mate there says one of the recruits mentioned in the Herald (Vandenbergh and Broad) hasn't actually signed.

Roo Dog I think you may have missed my sarcasm in that statement. The BLG is probably one of the cleanest comps around so we really did not need this fool ripping off a good club.

I must have hit a raw nerve there somewhere Pinch Hitler (touche) for you to get this upset. Angaston is the least influential of any of the clubs in the current BLG being the smallest and most unsuccessful, however unlike most when we go to a meeting we wear our football cap not our club one. Ask Nobby. The decision isn't the directors to make, their brief is to operate the comp in the interests of ALL clubs. I can't see how disadvantaging 3 clubs for no real reason is beneficial to the comp, perhaps you can. As for prior notice, the VF has been held in the same time frame for the last 50 years and we've been able to work in with it in the past. Suddenly we can't! Perhaps you can explain that too when you tell us where the major sponsor is most likely to be on opening day. I also can't see where I or the the other clubs concerned have levelled any blame. Is there some blame to be levelled? We have a genuine concern for the draw as suggested and the Barossa clubs have the same rights as any other clubs in having the issue discussed. Your right though it shouldn't have come to this and commonsense should have prevailed in the first place. We'll know which way you'll be voting at the meeting and if we lose our bid to change the draw we'll have to look at ways to minimize the damage.

You can add Turrell and Cussadia to Kapunda's outs... that would hurt the bombers!

Don't mis-interpret my amusement as being upset.

You have berated the Directors to no end of this site don't hide from that now, in the future show a little professionalism.

Yes, if i held a delegates position to be at the special meeting i would vote in support of the decision already handed down by the league and recommend that clubs with events conflicting with the upcoming season must communicate this in writing to the directors weeks prior to the AGM.

Sorry this is already the case, so no recommendation needed.

Cussadia will hurt the bombers but by reports going around Turrell has upset the apple kart out in bomber land...
Cussadia has been a good player for a few years now and im sure the only reason he has left is because Turrell has got him a better offer at His new club.

Sounds like a baptism of fire for Gilligan.

Any reported IN's for Kapunda? Or players committed like Macarthy, valentine, brady, ryan etc?

McCarthy must be only 50/50 because of his knees, haven't heard any announcements re Ryan or Brady. Strangely no confirmation on Brad Taylor either.....

I think you'll find McCarthy is not playing again. Due to his work committments (self employed) he cant afford to 'do' a knee again. Kapunda would be wise though to get him involved somewhere at the club!

I think you'll find S Ryan is going around again for the Bombers...

Cussadia is a blow as he was one of the younger brigade Kapunda had, I think they may struggle in the next few years unless they import well and have new players move into the zone...

Taylor has been quoted as leaving, can anyone confirm this???
