reckon that the 5 this year could be in any order.
my suprise i think will be ironbank. i reckon that they will play in the preliminary frinal this year at the very least. they hav a good young side and with more quality recruits can only get better
even with lofty's departures they still have quality players including birch and stapleton returning.

If you have them playing in the prelim, wouldn't you have them in at least third spot??

Dont have to. You can finish 4th or 5th and still play in the Prelim or even the GF.

Just ask the Lofty juniors who seem to have a habit of doing it

i also mentioned that the top 5 could be in any order. i think ironbank will come good during the finals and worry a few teams.
as long as they keep up the wins coming into the fianls.

Raider how are things going at Bridgey did not look to good last night only 21 out as I went past. :(
Compared to the 32 out at MT Barker for Umpire training the same night. :?

Well they've picked up Paul Marshall from Seaton who will be good for them, but I think they will still struggle this year.

You must be a fast counter, driving (I assume) and counting to 21 in the 30secs in takes to drive through Bridgewater.

Noticed big Hibberd and Veenvliet who played for Lobethal last season are playing in 20/20 carnival at Happy Valley for Edwardstown. Obviously moved on from Tigerland, as have a few others. Rumors that Ledge King may also have hung up the boots? Doesn't leave Loby with much to play with this year; early favorites for the wooden spoon? :(

There is no doubt that Loby will finish bottom with no wins. Possibly wouldn't make the 5 in the B's this year with their best team. Having spoken to the boys, it's going to be a long year for Bottler and the lads. Will cop a flogging by 50 goals in atleast one game...I have no doubt. Not any real quaility at all at tigerland this year and the current commitee isn't helping the situation rumour has it.

have heard the tigers only have 28 senior players to field A's & B's,also heard that ledge wasnt playing and that other senior local players are pulling out, this on the back of losing all of last seasons recruits. The ad in the advertiser for players was a flop so this will mean a long bleak winter for such a proud club.

Just lucky on two counts stopped at the junction and they were doing run throughs each with 3. Easy counted 7 groups. :-"
Although now having posted that initial mail have been informed a few other clubs had only a few more on the same day. Perhaps the Umpires are putting forward the best options at this stage of the season (1 hr session and allowing for age).

As a couple of us mentioned in the last few games of last year only having 2 or 3 cars from Lobey (apart from players) turn up to watch away games and even seeing the home turn up at the end of the season was a shadow of the past, does not bode well. :(

Devils into the grand final in the pre-season comp down at Happy Valley. Knocked off Edwardstown fairly easily friday night and are now playing for the $$$.

Devils have been fairly impressive given the quality they've been up against. Hopefully they can stick it up the other teams who thought they weren't a chance.

Go Devils!

$1500 for 1st. $750 for 2nd.

It cost $750 to enter apparently. Happy Valley would be making a fortune out of this, $2 entry and the oval was nearly full last friday night

Any smart HFL club must be thinking about running a similar comp next preseason

I heard Happy valley made $28,000.00 out of doing it last year. You'd think they'd put a bit more money on the line if they're making that much. If you saw the change rooms, both home and away, you'd realise they're not short of a dollar.

Can't believe they're charging entry to a trial game!

Good little comp though. Hopefully the Devs smash the pants off Townies friday. A few heads should get around it. There's been plenty of jail-bait running around for anyone interested!

The devils were quite impressive considering that B.Burch, M.Stapleton, D.Stapleton, DK.Stevens, A.Cooper, J.Temme and possibly a few others were unavailable Friday night. It would be naive to think though that Towns or Reynella have been completely full-strength either throughout the competition.

Yeah you're right, there's no doubting the other teams have been understrength also. I didnt' think the Devs would make it to the GF though.

Devils should be strong this year, injuries could play a big part though. If a few go down they could be in trouble.

last year it was winner takes all in the h/valley comp$3000 bucks, the council built the new club rooms for the community and the lights only cost the footy club 30 grand of the 120,000 after a grant and the council chipped in. why wouldn't you charge $2 it is setting their club up for years to come

Yeah Dashin I agree that the devils will be strong, and if they are full-strength they will be as strong as they were for most of last year as they played most of the year with 4 or 5 of their best out each week. Their depth may prove to be their achilles heel this year though as they will not be able to cover injuries to key players as comfortably as they did last year. It will be a challenge for Mt Lofty to muster up as strong a b'grade side this year as the previous three years that's for sure.

My point is just that when they have that much coin, and you're making heaps over the bar/canteen anyway, why charge for a trial game? Have you ever been to a trial game before and been charged entry? If they need more $$$ to cover umpires, footy's etc,(which would be fair enough) just increase the amount charged per team to enter.

Anyway, now i sound like I'm whinging when only attempting to throw it out there.

All good
