well you didnt miss much at mt barker...absolute drubbing the barkeroos were never in the contest Burch, White, and Cutting were easily the best 3 players on the ground...all the cheques that the devils have been dishing out this year are starting to pay off.

Starting to pay off...I reckon those that are probably getting a bit have done great stuff til now. Some local boys have come into their own with that talent around them as well.

Dale, I have a lad that plays juniors at Lofty and people cannot talk highly enough about Granger. He runs the boundary for the kids each week. He is not a big name ex AFL player or anything but he has brought the club together and made them want to play for each other. History has shown that money can buy individuals but it cant buy a team. I say good luck to the lad.

I have heard along those lines. And honestly, no rumblings about paid players just p#ssing off after the game, or not playing for the jumper.
Mind you, I have liked the culture there even when wins weren't weekly occurances.
Maybe i should have stuck around!

Bobby
looked like an absolute drubbing by the sounds of it all.

I was speaking to a person involved at blackwood on the weekend about money and he said that Blackwood had the same rumours last year when they played, that apparently cheque books were flying around, even though the depth comes from the local lads.

Funny though how you mention about the cheque books with Burch and cutting local boys who were the best players on the weekend. Its probably fair to say that the devils have some depth with their local lads.

Anyone know who goal kickers and best players were considering it wasn't in the paper??

The culture seems to be good at Lofty JQ, lofty had some time down the bottom for a long time, which isn't a good thing for club culture, good to hear a past player of the club still enjoyed it when times were tough. How long ago did you play and have you been back to the club since they have risen up the ladder?

Chook - played a couple of seasons ago and have seen almost all home games this year.
Have been back to the club a few times since this rise this year. I heard last year was good (I wasn't here) and the footy trip numbers and stories seemed to back that up!
Myself and a few other ex players like to view scorelines that once used to pretty much be the other way around...athough, this squad really does seem to be pulverising teams on a regular basis.
And regarding Burch, one of the better players floating around...he's not on any $$.

Forum followers ... while there is much speculation on what seems Birdwood choice to seek promotion, I believe one Central club is freely canvassing the idea of dropping back a division. A survey has been held among some members ... it seems the club just wants to have some success, given it has been down the bottom of the ladder for too long now. Remember Nairne-Bremer endured 48 losses before dropping back and played finals the next three years, including two preliminary finals. It may be a life line to the besieged club, but really are the players giving it there all.. reportedly just six players on the track on Tuesday night, and no B-graders. It might be testament where they sit on the ladder. Hard work brings reward, and the club must band together. Could be an interesting general meeting when a final decision on future direction is on the table.

And of those Bridgey players that are rocking up to games, a chunk of those won't be there next year, especially if it's Central Division that they have to take on again.
I'd like to say I'm concerned, but...

A move to Country Division won't surprise. They would have been there this year/folded if they hadn't recruited those players from PNU at the last minute.

Well there could be a couple of upsets on the card tomorrow. I think that Uraidla and Mt Barker are over the line, Onkas should beat Blackwood but this is the season on the line for the Woods. On current form Ironbank will give Hahndorf a run for their money and hand the wooden spoon over to Bridgewater. Lot depends on what sort of side the Pies put on the park. No Lyons or Morrissey this week plus IB seem to have a lot of proven performers strutting around in the B Grade which peeves me off a little as it would be nice to see some help given to the youngsters.

Straight Shooter, from what I hear around the traps I think you may be on the mark re the youngsters but that can wait for another day. No fine for the Assistant coaches verbal abuse of the umpires last week as he was on the team sheet but that should not have made a difference.

Dale I have news on the whereabouts of Robbie Hall, but it is a secret just like your footy trip destination !!!

Thunder, should be a good tussle between Ironbank and Handorf, but i reckon the pies have a bit more class than the kids from the thunderdome. Buzz Stansborough will rack up 50 touches if Exeleby doesnt put a tag on him.

The reason some good older players have dropped back to the b grade is to qualify for finals. So they have a chance to win the b grade flag, cause the a grade not winning, they want something.

I'm in pow wow with you Indian ... what of all the players, many of the young guys out of senior colts, who find their feet in B-grade, and are good enough to get the side to a position to make the finals, and then get the tijuana brass cause some older guys wants to get part of the glory. If that's the case, why not just play in the grade all year, or better still just nominate a B-grade team, if that's all those blokes aspire to. Good luck to those youngsters forced to suit up for the A-grade, but surely escaping the spoon would be a priority. Do all the Thunder hierachy leave after the B-grade, obviously that's the centre of their planning? No use whinging about not being competitive up top if some of their better players are chasing 'cheap glory' ... TDU ... I thought if you were on a team sheet, that made you even more accountable for actions and behaviour towards umpires, surely on the bench, or on the ground, you face the prospect of penalty if listed on the official list and act in conduct unbecoming? Guess the bloke can feel lucky, but what I've heard, probably won't make any difference. Perhaps he does need to be officially pulled into line.
