Not bad? 3/10 is ordinary...

The bad news only gets worse for other clubs...

Only departures for the Bluds at this stage are possibly the ruckman Baxter. Everyone else keen to stay on for 5 in a row.

There has been several approaches from big name players already (notice the approaches are not 'to' big name players).

Not sure what your fascination is with Hills?

He will hold his spot and he has a red hot go at it...more than i can say for a few Imps players...

Can anyone tell me why the Standard has a photo of the B grade premiers on the front page of the sport?

Would it have anything to do with the editor being an Imps supporter?

From memory they did the same last year!

Ian Perrie had a red hot go at it.
Hell, i've seen players with one arm have a red hot go at it.
That point sinks into the quicksand.
But Hills draws attention to himself, and while saying that, he also deals with sh!t well.
So thats that settled.
Don't quite get your dig at Imps players.
Last quarter fade outs and losing close matches happens to every club.
We've just copped the brunt of them.
Sadly.

My point was that i would rather have Hills in my team giving his all and putting his body on the line and winning the footy for me, than being in the same team as some players who dont make a contest and run forward of the footy looking for the easy kicks.

Is it a coincidence that this kind of mentality sees Imps lose close ones? I think not!

There's a reason why certain teams "fade out" and "cop the brunt" of close contests...think about it...

I agree if you're suggesting mentality has a strong bearing on results.
People play in different styles, i rarely go in for the hard ball if i find someone else does that and i can wait for the easy disposal.
It's not that i'm soft, its my role in the team.
In saying that, you have to have a balance of styles, otherwise you clash.
What i notice about imperials is the amount of individual super stars.
There's plenty of matchwinners.
But a champion team will always beat a team of champions hey?
I believe there has to be a cleanout, their current format of getting star players is not working.
It gets them so far, but not all the way.
Find the balance of silky runners and hard ball nuts, build a cohesive team, and you will never fail.

I thought the editor was Travis Simmons, who plays for Mypo? I've seen him do editorials before.

Sounds like the money not likely to run out by next year

Only change could be a change of coach unless the Bluds can convince Tim to do one more year.

I'd say its just a case of main page of sport (ie back page of the newspaper), A grade premiers photo, and that leaves B grade for front page.

Dont get me wrong, i enjoy reading the standard each week, but i thought the GF coverage was a little thin this year for the A grade, and the pics weren't particularly fascinating.

I'm not sure who the editor is, but thought Dalwood might have a bearing on what does and doesnt get published and where it is positioned? And from what i hear he is an Imps man is that correct?

Tim has had enough of coaching, so it looks like Mahoney will step up.

Dont worry about the money drying up at Jervois. Its a club where players would be prepared to take cuts just to play for the Bluds! Bigger times ahead, and I'm not sure if other clubs have the same contacts. Everyone that plays for the Bluds gels together. You cant have good players that play for themselves, and maybe this is where teams like Imps are going wrong...

Take Mypo for example...looking threatening leading up to finals and then what? I know last year some teams didnt even have players in the finals because they werent getting paid and refused to play. Whats the point of having them at the club in the first place?

Talking from experience, sports writers rarely have input in what goes in, other than what they write.
Matthew Peake is the sports editor there i think, does some umpiring i believe.
And he would operate under Trav, so rest the blame on Trav for that.
the pic selection Matt,

I'm not certain who Dalwood supports but i dont think its Imps, more likely to be Ramblers. I personally would doubt he'd have a say in what photos went where though.

reason i say this GWW is that peter dalwood offered money to me and a mate from hahndorf to come play for jervois in 82/83?

Really, thats interesting m80's, maybe he had an involvement with Jervois when he first moved to SA, i believe he came from Victoria (dont know exactly when though). He had a son who played junior footy for the Bluds in the early 90's, i must admit i've never heard or read anything from him to indicate he barracked for the Bloods. But yeah hard to know, these days as an official, i guess he has to keep his support of any club to himself.

Jervois all about money, if you are saying that the players would take pay cuts you are dreaming, There are a number of players who are looking elsewhere even without the paycuts.

as far as i can work out with dalwood he just jumps onto whoevers bandwagon. he was looking like all ramblers at the start of the year and then it looked like he was going to swing imps' way after the prelim. but low and behold, he jumped right back onto the team of cash cows who bought another premiership
