Ones mentioned in the past include - Callington (not competitive/no netball I believe); Peake or Karoonda from Mallee League or perhaps an amalgamation from that comp; a GSFL club such as Langhorne Creek or Strath - however none are likely to want to make the move from GSFL.

A merged club from Mallee, may perhaps be the eventual 8th club, but that may be years away.

Just makes a mockery of the comp IMO. Understand they do it for $$$ but surely they can drop it to 4 teams until they do find an 8th club which does look to be a hard task.

Interesting also that the Clearance for Newchurch to go to Millicent has been put in on the Riverland Sporting Pulse site. Unless Sporting Pulse wasn't updated, he wasn't actually ever cleared to Lyrup, so presumably the clearance application needs to go through Tailem and the RMFL.

Just over one week away from round one in season 2012
I'm going to kick it off with my tips for the first week

Imperials v Ramblers - By far the match of the round and many people have said the Chookd will struggle but I have a funny feeling they will still be a top 2-3 team this season, on the other hand the Blues have been talked up by everyone and with a couple solid trials I got to see will go in with a lot of confidence, Ramblers having a young inexperienced team will go down in round one by 60+ points but expect them to improve rapidly throughout the season

Jervois v Mannum - tough one to pick, both teams haven't shown much in trials and I think just the experience Jervois have in there player will get them over the line in a fiery hard clash. Jervois by 10-16 points

Tailem Bend v Mypolonga - 2 teams that should move up the ladder this season, will be a very good clash between two very skillful teams. Love Boys, Bowen and Wark running into Eckermann, Jones and Menigettii boys. Will be clean moving fast play on footy with both teams getting over 15 goals and Mypo will take the cake by 3 points

Ladder for Season 2012
Imperials
Ramblers
Mypolonga
Tailem Bend
Meningie
Jervois
Mannum

Mail Medalist 2012
Tyson Wait

Best on Ground
Luke Harrowfield

Leading Goal Kicker
Chris Ladhams 74

I'll make sure I remember this thread come September to see where I sit :)

Noticed on the Mallee Sporting Pulse Clearance site, that Caine Lynn has a clearance application to RMFL, presumably Mypo. They will have some good depth this season.

As far as I know, Lynn still works in the mines unless something has changed. I would assume then he would only be looking at playing 1 in every 3 weeks or something like that. Not a bad bloke to sit in a forward pocket every now and then

ROUND 1

Jervois v Mannum - this looks to be a 50/50 game, wouldn't surprise me if the Roos get the points, but I'll select the Bluds because its their home game. Jervois 9 points.

Imperials v Ramblers - the Roosters are going under the radar a bit this year, but I would expect them to have a pacy, young side. The Blues have the experience, and being at Johnston Park, I'd expect them to win by about 24 points.

Tailem Bend v Mypolonga - both sides will be extra keen to start the year off with a win. The Tigers have bolstered their stocks nicely in the off season, whilst the Eagles will be relying on their key players to get them over the line. I reckon Mypo can win a close one by 11 points.

Pretty accurate assessment of where Ramblers are at this stage of the year in the standard however I really didnt like how Dalwood made it sound like people are dying to leave the club.

Most that have left have done so for a good reason such as work or coaching aspirations etc

It will be a tough year to pick winners but i'm going with Imps to beat us by around 6 goal, Jervois over Mannum by 4 goal and Tailem and Mypo to have a draw.

Really I have no idea how these other 2 games are going to go but will be interested to see the results for sure.

All Dalwoods report has helped do is assure us that Imperials will be the team to beat however I dont think they will be unbeatable

From The Standard's facebook page:

Due to an unforseen error the Imperial FC season preview was incorrect. To view the 2012 preview click on the link below.

Also, round one previews of the three games are up:

Imps by 10 goals. Ramblers will improve as season progresses and younger players gain more confidence. Tailem v Mypo will be game of the round. Interesting to see how the new recruits for both sides go. Tailem by a kick. Jervois by 5 goals but I also expect Mannum to improve later in the year.

Interesting to see some team listings on Sporting Pulse already for the Round 1 games:

Jervois v Mannum
http://www.sportingpulse.com/round_info ... 1-0&pool=1

Imps v Ramblers (only a few Ramblers players listed at this stage)
