Just confirming Dale's post- Mt Lofty are looking for a new coach as he has accepted the West Adelaide Reserves coaching job. Has anyone heard of possible replacements?

Just bought a bottle of Moet for a special occasion......didn't have to wait long to crack it!!!

:partyman: :partyman:

A LOT of people very happy about this one!

Would love to get KB back, but very doubtful. The smartest thing the Devs could do is offer the role in some sort of joint capacity to Floreani and Trigga IMO.

DA, When you returning? Agree that to keep Floreani under the point options, then to make him coach with Trigga his assistant?
Could prove successful for the Devils.

May be sooner now! Nah, not for another 18 months or so. Why? Do you think my style from the blcony could get me the job?

But yeah, Floreani coach with Trigga assistant would be a great combination. I've only met Floreani once, but he comes with great raps, and from my time on the track at Goat Park, it's Trigga who everyone listens to anyway!

Kevin Sheedy could be a good option too.

Mt Lofty club history will remember Grainger as a back to back premiership coach for your club DA. I think the guy deserves a bit more respect than that. He was the only A grade coach I ever seen volunteer to run the boundary for the senior colts every week- he did this I'm sure as he cares about Mt Lofty's future.

Might have been part of his contract?

No, he did it to look out for junior talent, and I respect that - it was a commendable extra contribution.

But find a Devil that's sad to see him go.....

Would ML have won a flag without Grainger?

DA, you could have coached them from the other side of the world and they still would have gone back to back.
Maybe you should coach them next year?

The candidate for mayo reckons he could have coached them with his eyes closed and they still would have won, it would be the closest he has come to a game for weeks, without selecting himself! Especially after being dropped for the finals!

But wasn't Grainger responsible for getting the majority of the players to the club?

Not one of them.

It began with Trigga, Rosco and Benny G in 2005 under KB. In 2006 preseason (before Grainger was appointed) they got some mates to come up because of the great club atmosphere.

I'm not aware of anyone at Devil Land who hasn't come because of a mate playing there, besides the initial signing of the three above.

The candidate for Mayo should have won the mail medal with all that red hair. He was robbed.

Floreani will be coaching in the amateurs in 2008. Look elsewhere Dev's.

Ah ok fair enough. I did get the impression that he encouraged the aggressive recruiting, but looking from the outside its not easy to tell. From whats written on here, hes clearly stepped on a few toes.

I think you will find that Floreani senior is the one to be coaching SHOCS next year.

So do you think if Grainger had stayed some of your higher profile players would have left??

And sorry for my ignorance but why wasnt he well liked?

I heard certain players werent happy with the positions they were playing... eg gun midfielders spending lot of time on the flanks. Was this due to the coach or more that Mt Lofty have so many gun players. Getting rid of coach doesnt solve that problem really unless new coach brings better rotations

It is purely hypothetical that anyone could have coached Lofty to back to back flags. Credit to Grainge- he did it. Good luck to him, will be interesting to see who gets the job. Woud think the position would attract a lot of interest and hopefully several decent candidates. Agree Trigger is highly regarded amongst the playing group as a leader, has a great footy brain and talks a lot of sense- no doubt an excellent senior coach in the making if/when he wants to coach.
