I mentioned this last week. I know of 1 player who is on very good money. It was his first year of football last year and was a under 18 who played some reserves football at a amateur club. This particular players parents haven't moved to Mannum. He is 200 odd cm metres tall. By all accounts he can play, but is un proven at A grade level was my point. Schimma you may know more??

Mannum are trying to avoid points allocation! No more to be said. If they get a couple of good kids, who stay for 3 -4 years the exercise has been worth it.

Ramblers V Mypo trail last night was a good hit out for both sides, but both sides got tired quickly, with the pace dropping off at the end of the 1/4's. To be expected from the 1st trial I guess. Both very young sides, & very quick.
Was good to see Butts back playing again
The 2 Fitzgeralds played in the 2's for Mypo, so not sure they are boom recruits, but the big ruckman looked powerful & moved well.

Played 3 b grade games as he played as an overage under 18. his parents live in the western suburbs of adelaide. only reason going is because the money is better then working for a week????? has a mate ex port reserves (quality player) on more then a stack of cash. he would be 19 at least now maybe 20.

so who are these unproven footballers, Harvey?? mail medallist, Pech who by all accounts has a pretty good reputation as a small forward/midfielder, Sam Tonkes - port magpies rserves and under 18 player - won best on ground in a GF - state under 18 captain, Jarrod Hales another port magpies reserves and under 18 player, Casey Thomas decent big bodied player from BL&G league or maybe it is Nathan Bowles who is a 6ft 8 ruckman from Smosh yeah he may have only played a couple of football seasons but we've seen something in him so why not take a punt. So out of all the players we've brought in the the one with the least experience is still only 18 with 2 years playing footy but has been in the AIS for basketball. So again schimma where are all these unproven footballers

first trial this weekend against wallaroo then the following weekend against barmera. Pech is an absolute machine on the track, the guy is super fit. Harvey has been pretty solid too, will be a good pick up for us clean use of the ball by hand and foot.

Seems pretty unfair to have crack at Mannum for spending big money on players. Many clubs need to do it and to attract players to more remote clubs there must be some additional incentive. I think they have done a great job to attract so many new players and the stronger the non Murray Bridge teams are the better the competiton will be. Good luck to them.

Sam Tonkes is a good pick up. He was best on in the reserves premiership side 2 years ago as an U17, and won an U18 SANFL premiership last year. Was not captain of the State U18s.

Jarrod Hales is handy, played 1 reserves game 2 years ago, but didnt play any last season.

Is Darcy Gordon there as well?

The clearances for Bowen and Wark have been denied by Sturt again. I wonder what this will mean for season 2012 for the Eagles.

well said mate

when you lose around 7 players (and pretty handy ones at that) and don't have the local depth to cover them it leaves you with no choice but to shop around for replacements.

They have to sign retirement releases. Sturt has confirmed they will be cleared once retirement forms are signed. Just a matter of the boys going in to sign.

SANFL clubs make players sign retirement forms because it means they cannot get cleared to a country club and then bob up at another SANFL club the following year.

so why don't they just release them on permit again?

Cant release them on a permit if they are not longer contracted so retirement forms are the way of stopping them going to other SANFL clubs.
