Bridgewater sold their own grog from a truck on the other side of the ground. They yelled abuse to Junior and Senior Colts players that most adults would cringe at. Their coach was off in Germany watching the world cup. There players stuffed toilet paper in the visitors rooms toilet bowl then did a crap on the floor. There captain king hit a player behind play in the face which forced him from the ground with a serious head injury.
Regardless of whether you have money to buy players or not at least play by the rules and enjoy the spirit of the game in the hills. I look forward to seeing Uraidla hand out the same punishment that the Lofty boys gave them.

I haven't heard any rumblings. So that'd be...what 3 games a year? Or 4? Is that worth it? It helps if your team needs a shove into a finals spot, but otherwise...

If you'd qualify, that'd be worth it. But if your team's pretty strong, like Lofty now, why find a spot for someone that's not there for 80% of the season?

Why would ya let a bloke come and play three or four games a year and take some other regular team members spot when it comes finals time. I can't see any club being involved in a system like that, The poor fella that has been puttin in all year doesn't get a gig finals time!

You'd think it would be a very long shot for Matt Jaensch to play at Devils ... perhaps on verge of being an influence at Sturt .. seems they are giving kids a go! Besides .. 80s Pie, you are right, BJ would set Leon onto his son if he chose to wear any thing rather than black and white in the HFL! It is interesting though, plenty of clubs utilise city-based players when SANFL club has a bye, not really fair on those juniors who stick to it week-to-week. SANFL players unlikely to qualify for finals, so what purpose does it serve?

Can someone shed some (more) light. ODB, get out of the Nelson Tavern and tell us what is going on.

I did pick Nairne to miss the finals (page 1 of this topic), so their plight doesn't surprise me.
Wishiwas, as I said in an earlier post I have been only able to see 2 games this year for various reasons but I'll say that I wish Lallard had come to the club in 2000. We had a core group of decent local players then and if we had been able to recruit anyone, I have no doubt we would have played finals football.
An unfortunate situation at the moment where there is very little involvement playerwise from Macclesfield people and the recruits that they have bought to the club have still only just got the numbers out onto the park.
Do have faith that the club will go alright with Craig as coach but if he decides to give it away, I can see the club folding within the next 5 years and I really don't like to say that but unfortunately as I have touched on many times before, Macclesfield is turning into a Clarendon like town, so this is almost inevitable.
BTW, is there a female (possibly male for that matter  ) photographer at the Courier who has the hots for Lynne from Echunga? His photo is in the Courier nearly every bloody week!!!!

Tips for the week

Uraidla will kill Ironbank by 13 goal, Ironbank will have a dip but really do not have any cattle on the park to match Uri's

Lobethal will smash Bridgey by 15 Goal as Bridgewater don't want to play football and are happy trying to hit blokes on the field.

Lofty will beat Barker by 5 goal. Don't be suprised if barker put up a massive fight. Should be a cracker of a game on sunday. If both sides can stay off the drink!

Hahndorf to beat blackwood by 2 goal in a good even contest.
How good is footy!

Can only partially agree with you Chook and Footballer. Lobethal and Uraidla to win easily but on the basis that this is the last roll of the dice for Blackwood I think they can win and am tipping Mt Barker to upset Mt Lofty in what could be a cold and wet day on Sunday. Not sure where you are coming from Footballer re Muirden and Kempe. Just bait talk for mine.

Straight Shooter that is the Silky Sodomka of old days strutting his stuff in the Magoo's. Has lost the hunger for A Grade footy and happy to have a younger player in the side that wants to be there. Have seen him play very well over last couple of weeks, smart footy brain but a yard or two slower but able to get away with that at B Grade level. G Campbell goes alright in the B Grade as well, you'd have seen him play around the traps.

Ball Magnet, as for Ironbank going back into Country Division I have never heard it discussed and hope it never is.
As you said they aren't the worst team in the comp and have a solid foundation both on and off the field. The wheel turns and to quote one M Malthouse we are probably at 3.00 on the premiership clock.

Some good chat, fellas. Interesting stuff.
Wet Sunday will make that game close. My tips...

Uraidla by 101 points
Lobey to hopefully do Bridgey over, I thing it'll be big. 18 goals.
Totally agree with Chook and Footballer.
Lofty, maybe. WAY better team. Lacklustre kicking could hurt, but will get home in their closest win. 4 goals.
Hahndorf Blackwood...I picked the Woods to be top 5. Last chance. The woods in a cracker, 3 pts.

To the callers who have picked Barker to beat Lofty. Im curious know how or why you would pick a side that just got over Bridgewater to beat a side that beat them by 31 goals. You guys must know something I dont. There was even two tipsters who picked them in the Courier. Not knocking your decision I just feel there is something I dont know.

Is Shane Bellman still pulling on the boots at Mt Barker?? was told he had a falling out with the coach?? Be a fair player to pick up for next year. Who will kick more this week, Coad for loeby, or Brown for Uraidla?? Im going for bags of 9 for both.

Rapper, I hear you.
I wouldn't pick Barker, just think they'll lift. I don't see them as a premiership contender, that's for sure

The budget has comfirmed that Birdwood are definatly coming up to central next year and it will be a 10 team comp each division. Will be interesting to see how they go, but i reckon they could give Bridgey and maybe Ironbank a tussle at this point. They will need to recruit. Wonder what will happen when they play Mt Lofty.

birdwood going into div 1 is absolute stupidity, they dont even dominate in div 2, it should be made that the bottom team from div 1 should get dropped to div 2 the next year and the top team from div 2 should get raised to div 1 that way both the comps stay as even as possible and there are less 30 goal blow outs

Whats the opinion on Nathan Granger??? Is he a good coach or are the players such as Mehta, White, Trzesinski, Wait, Burch, Wood, Gordon making him look good???

Dale the move to go up a Division is not one that should be taken lightly and not an overnight decision. You need to remember that it is the whole club that goes up and as such B Grade and Juniors are generally more affected by the move. What do you do with a club that struggles at Juniors levels in the Country Division fronting up to the challenges of Blackwood who are always strong at junior level. A country team will need to recruit very well to just be competetive in Central Division. (I know I have been through it).

As such if the story is true I commend the Birdwood Club for their foresight and for making the decision at this early stage. I do not support the relegation system.
