Is that normal naming captains this early?

First time in my life time. Guess Brett's looking for stability. Their Deputies B.Pearce and D.Bingos.

2 Brookers making their Slowdown Debut this year as well.

Is Paul James a interesting selection seems he has some discipline issues, this might help curb them.

First of all, since when does Loffler have DK's measure. EVERY single time I've seen Uri's play Devs (Didn't see the 2nd game this year or the final) DK has given Loffler a bath. DK's stronger, just as fast and mean as a bastard on the field. DK will again blanketsurprise chef 8)

great dropkick wrote:Good work DA right on the money. Banker ... 2003 preliminary final in SC Mt Lofty d Blackwood at Mt Barker. Mt Barker then beat Devils in the grandy. By the way DA ... hope it won't be too cold in the Old Dart for the traditional celebratory 'Crafers gift' if the Devs get up!!!!

Nice one GD!! The crafers gift will be sponsored by Carling this year and run as the 'Double Decker Red Bus-Dash' should a 3-peat be achieved. Shrinkage Factor will be higher than ever, but I can't make excuses!

ON THE GF's:

A's - Devils back to back for me. Agree with the comments above RE: beat Pucker = Beat Cabbage. Devils by 5 goals after 3 close quarters. Matty Baldock for the Medal to cap a brilliant season.

B's (Or Central B's v Country A's or whatever!!!) Super B's will 3-peat. We'e had the wood on Blackwood in the B's since KB beat them single-handedly in 2003!!! Supers by 4 goals. Weeksy for the medal, and a bronze statue of Mado to be cast at the entrance to Goat Park!

U17's Dev's - the senior colts from Devil-land have HEART. It's all about timing you run, and the young Dev's have been masters of it for years.

GO YOU DEVILS!!!
Good luck lads for 3 from 3 again, and a Supers 3-peat!

GO YOU MIGHTY DEVILS!!!

Never any doubt.

3 from 3!!!!!!!

17's by 5 goals - great work again lads. Nothing beats a Devils senior colts team in September!!!

GO YOU SUPERS!!!
Blackwood could bring who they like and still wouldn't have beaten the SUPERS!
Well done on back to back medals Nipple you little smartass. I hope that mirken of yours prevents your giant cranium from expanding.

And A's are on their way to back to back!

GO YOU DEVILS!!!!

What can you say?
I saw A's and B's and Lofty were simply WAY too good. Could have won A grade by 6 or 7 but the foot came off the gas but it didn't matter sh#t by then.
What an awesome feat, 3 back-to-backs with a triple in that lot. Cabbage A's were overwhelmed and got soundly beaten all over the park, and to my surprise their biggest weakness was in the air and in the forward line.
Lofty never headed and thoroughly deserved another crown.
With a great age mix in the 2 senior teams and a great bunch of Colts coming thru it looks good for the devs for 08 too.
Well done lads...for someone that played thru the lean times, I was proud as f!#k to see the way the club has turned around.

Will definitely be one Country Division finals club from this season looking for a new coach next year.
Let's hope for their sake they don't go down the same path they did 6 years ago.

People will say it's gutless that I'm not naming names but given that the person told me himself, I think it's only fair that I don't do it. It will be no big secret to the club concerned but I'm sure everyone will be aware in a week or two, if they're not already.

Was it about 6 six years ago that Brett Copping went to Maccy from Meadows. Insinuating that after the Meadows Position was advertised on the weekend, that history could be repeating itself, and one S.Blake could be heading to Maccy?? Surely not??

IIRC there was a lot of innuendo at Meadows about 6 years. One of Meadows favourite sons was named coach. The president was "demoted" to vice president. The new president was a current A grade footballer. This giving him a big say on who the coach was.
Is Dave Thomas returning to Meadows as senior coach?

congrats to mount lofty on the repeat of the three peat. Six flags in two years, has that ever been done before in hills league footy? The b grade were awesome and confirmed they are the best 2nd tier team bar none in the hills, and I doubt if any b' grade side in any sa amatuer footy league would be stronger than lofty's second best 21.

the a grade game went according to a script that not many would've picked. I thought it would be a tight tussle untill the last 10-15 minutes when lofty would pull away, but that first quarter was awesome. You knew that with Uraidla's sore bodies in that pretty unseasonal heat it would make it almost impossible for them to mount a comeback. To their credit they fought it out really well but lofty had all the answers all day. And considering lofty lost trigger early and Nich Paech also didn't play much of the second half due to a shoulder injury it was a great effort. If you add in Brad Burch, Matt and Damien Stapleton and Scott Wood whom all missed with inury to that side your looking at a pretty powerful club. Also of note is that four out of the five best players as named on saturday night were local boys who came up through the juniors.

Finally, crongrats also to the senior colts whom looked more polished and cohesive than uraidla, some pretty ominous talent will be fed into the senior ranks next year.

Spot on, DM
I was surprised with the start as well. And other than a 10-15 minute patch at the start of the 3rd term, there was daylight in the game.
I really don't reckon a club has gone back-to-back in those 3 grades in HFL ever before. What a turnaround.
I spoke to Bawden (who dwarfs me at 6ft 1...199cm really is massive) and we agreed that his previous game against Uris was better, but you don't hand back a BOG award! Nice bloke. Told him to stick around the club. He said that he was constantly told of how much we had struggled in previous years and I told him they were tough times and cheers for helping Lofty get in the record books for the right reasons.
And thanks to 2 well-timed yiros's at the club that night, I only had a mild hangover yesterday

It will be interesting to see if they advertised because they had too or if it was to find the best candidate available.

Also congrats to the junior colts from Ironbank! Anyone get out to see them? Wow my first time watching them and is there some talent in that game or what! I don't remember seeing a high class 14s game like that one for a long time. Can see why Mail won the medal... the guy is massive. dwarfs all opponents in size and build.. wonder if people will catch up to him?
Pope and Tate No. 6 are absolute guns considering their size reliative to the other boys such as Mail Shearwood etc..

And yeh well done Mt Lofty i guess....dammit!

Very impressive performance by Mt Lofty indeed but I do think you get a bit carried away with the 'Super Bs'. All the talk at Blackwood at the moment is that they will play their Bs in Central Div next year. If that happens I expect them to take the flag. Time will tell.

I thought the A Grade was closer than should have been. I think Lofty could have run away with it really. Look so much fitter than Uris who carry a few heavy blokes in defence I reckon. Ominous signs when they have some top players out. Do you expect many current recruits to leave? I'd sugest transfers will be down everywhere because of the points system.

Ironbank will retain all recruits bar possibly one at this stage, and that is not a big name anyway. Will improve in 08.

You've just been awarded stupid post of the century.

Blackwood did play their real B's in the GF and LOST. The Devils ressies are the Super B's because we've won 3 flags in a row. How many have Blackwood won in recent times? Over the last 3 seasons, the Super B's have only lost 7 games from memory. If that's not Super, I don't know what is.

Time will tell........that you're wrong.
