Congratulations to Josh Hollitt(19 votes) for taking out the Mail Medal last night and well done to Broady (18) who was runner up. My tip Joel Mont (15 votes), was close but no cigar. Lets hope the Magpies can round off a top year with a win on Saturday. United looked very very impressive Saturday and will certainly be very tough to beat if they maintain that sort of form.

looks like you were right!!
but i dont think even the most positive united supporter wouldve predicted the result!!
- wonder if the thumping of balak led to hummocks downfall? or were the tiges simply a class above?

regardless, looks like its GAME ON for this Saturday!!

United played really well and to be honest i think the day less breakhad an influence on Hummocks, they looked really flat in the 2nd half whereas UNited were very impressive and blew them away convincingly. They will be hard to stop in the GF :?

Willy Serle and Ben Sobey were fantastic yesterday in my opinion, there forward pressure and tackling to hold the ball in is worth a couple of goals.

i also thought schubert was great and trav opitz was good particularly in the first half. Mansfields run from defence was also very important. Lurch deserves a mention too he was great. Top team effort United

A top team effort is right! United's skills were a class above the Eagles all day. Listening at the Eagles 3 quarter time break and it felt like they had nothing left to give.

All set for a big day Saturday!

Gee it seems those who wrote the tigers off last week are choking on their words at present. Sure the eagles have been a fantastic team in recent years and its a huge credit to what they have been able to achieve. Unfortunaely just because a team has more finals experience than the other, doesnt always mean the team with less finals experience cant win. You have to start somewhere and obviously the weekends result shows that.

As far as the eagles having a day less break swamp i hardly see that was a big factor. The eagles/balak 1st semi final was merely no more than a training run for the eagles.
The tigers played a good team game on saturday and made it hard for the eagles to really get going.

This weeks game however should be a ripper. I cant wait!

Congatulations to J.hollitt

yes, well done Josh Hollitt. a worthy winner he plays hard and fair and has done so consistently over many years, he's a special talent.

And you blokes are bang on the money for mine as well, i was one of the pinheads who thought Hummocks would blow the tiges away, but,i agree with Start, Willy and especially sobes were dangerous and worked really hard on denying the Eagle defenders the time to be creative it was good, and Willy didn't even have his kicking boots on.

Amd Swampie saw it the same as, i loved the game of the two veterans in Opitz and Shubes, the latter really making a nuisence of himself all day and the former being very sharp as well, but i will give some of the Roosters kudos to Tubby Taylor as well he was good in the pivot and up forward. Broady was very good and very tough around the ball, just being the architect when he needed to be. Che was pretty handy after the bake i gave him, i liked his ability to get the aggott to blokes around him. The Big V had the big job in the ruck against "babyface" light and i reckon Vanders towelled him up early, i'm not if he was injured late or what happened but he had his name on it at one stage

Not on the tiges yet though, even after an impressive performance, my $8.50 will be on the Swampies mob, but whatever lets hope that this is one for the ages, speaking to a couple of Balak lads on sat and it sounds like they should have surrended their spot in the top four, no Walker, no wilmer, no catford, no A Evans and definatley no good, we at two wells will have to chew on that for the whole summer and use it for fuel next year.

Sensational mate, im glad to hear it!!
The west coast contingent has been bloody awesome for a few years now, the talent they bring across combined with the support that their families and friends bring to the club is special. Its one thing to talk these blokes into playing for us, but its a rewarding when you see their family travel six or seven hours each way just to watch their sons play, they just love their footy. Old Mr & Mrs Hollitt and The oldies of the monty clan left streaky at 6am the morning of the second semi and drove straight back after the game (run out of puff at Kimba on the way home) Thats support!! Its great to see. Its the support of these types and the efforts of the people around the club that make winnning so much more satisfying. Lets hope the lads have a real crack and give it everything and im sure theyll be happy with that :D

Yeah well done to Josh. He is what you would describe as a genuine top bloke on top of his footy ability. Always a thorn in the side of opposition clubs but plays the game in the right spirit. And always up for a chat in the clubrooms after which can be lacking given some of the hatred between clans simmering under the surface. I dont agree with that sort of carry on but it is definately there.
As for Sat, well done United. Just too good. I reckon they won it in the mentality department. While both sides carry injuries, the way the blokes broke the game open in the first qtr left the us eagles moping around and feeling the pain they were carrying. If you are winning, the pain is in the background, but once you drop your head it tends to come into play. Basically, United intimidated the eages and put them in a position they havent been in too often and they failed to deliver. That and Higgsy taking a dump at half time. He kicked 4 gems in the second qtr then missed 4 in the third after dropping a kilo at half time! :D
Its not all bad for hummocks and as much as it would have been good to win, 5-10 players are under 25 with multiple premierships to their names. I dont think its healthy and they need to learn how to lose sometimes. I had to wait until i was thirty for my first flag after playing in 3 losing ones. I maybe wrong but i feel i apprciate the two flags i won more so than a 21 year old that has 3 to his name already after being in the right place at the right time.
Black and white for me this week. Their run should get them over the line and the fresh legs

You're right about that premiership feeling Wedgie. I've played in two losing grand finals and am yet to taste that winning feeling. Hopefully I can rectify it this weekend.
Some young blokes need to experience how hard it is to win a flag!

Higgsy must have dropped one skillful load at half time!! He was on fire in the first half.
It's a shame to see such a blowout because the Eagles deserved better, but unfortunately footy's hardly ever fair. I reckon this Saturday will come down to how much each team wants it. Injuries shouldn't matter in the GF!
