Okay im going to have a stab at the finals race...

A grade finals

team - wins

1 Uraidla - 18
2 Lofty - 15
3 Onkas - 12 (or 11)
4 Blackwood - 11
5 Ironbank - 11
6 Mt Barker - 11

So that means that in terms of finals

1/9 – 4 vs 5 (Blackwood vs Ironbank)
2/9 – 2 vs 3 (Lofty vs Onkas)
8/9 – loser from 2/9 vs winner 1/9 (Onkas vs Blackwood)
9/9 – 1 vs winner 2/9(Uraidla vs Lofty)
15/9 –Loser 9/9 vs winner 8/9 (Lofty vs Onkas)
22/9 – GF = Uraidla vs Lofty

Okay anyone else agree or disagree, it’s hard to pick who is going to finish 3rd through to 6th, I think its all going to go on percentage.

No idea who will win the GF I want it to be Lofty but they need to make sure they come out firing after half time and not leave it in the change rooms, like they have been almost all season.

Nice work there, luvinfooty.
And to be honest, I'd have to agree with you.
My only qualm, with the way it sits at the moment, is Mt Barker creeping in and replacing IB in that equation. It wouldn't change anything though.
And I agree about Lofty coming out firing in the GF. But I also think that with the confidence of last year's flag, once they hit the front in the GF, they'd be harder to peg back than when Uris knocked off at Goat Park.

Well I don't think you need to be Einstein to work out that Mt Lofty will play Uraidla probably LIF but well done anyway on all the scenario's.

I have been doing percentage permutations to calculate what percentage it is likely that IB and Mt Barker will end up with based on varying results for both sides. Of course weather conditions will play a big part in this along come Round 18 with one other major factor as I see it and that is Bridgewater.

It is a well known fact that they play their best football at home and if they have all their big guns up and running come this Saturday the game against Mt Barker will be a lot closer than most are suggesting. Anyone else agree or just wishful thinking on my behalf ?

interesting that you write off Ironbank so easily! Saying that even if they make finals they will be knocked out first round! Ironbank beat Blackwood last time round, Convincingly beat Onkas for 3 quarters and Challenged Uraidla both times they played for three quarters! Would suggest to me that on their day, playing 4 quarters of football they have the ability to match with the best.

Yes if IB play 4 qtrs of footy then they can match it with both Lofty and Uraidla but the thing is thats the difference at the moment between the top teams and IB. IB can't string 4 qtrs of footy together and so lose to Lofty and Uraidla. Really frustrating on our behalf but were trying to fix it. But do agree if we make finals which is completely 50/50 we could shake things up a bit.

Will be rediculously close in the run to the finals. 140 points seperates IB and Mt Barker. Way too many variables at this stage so probably best to let this weekend pass then work out by how much each team must win or lose.

Can confirm points system was voted in last nite by HFL. Apparently many surrounding leagues such as GSFL and RMFL are talking about it also. Pressure from AFL and SANFL on all leagues to adopt it.

I have been following this forum closely for a while now and thought i would finally sign up and have something to say; No big calls early but i would like to start by saying i have seen many a youngster come through ranks though never played in the HFL myself myself and it got me thinking about some of the best local talent in your comp... for me chris naughton from Ironbank who i have now seen play on 2 or 3 occasions is one of the best but would love to hear of others...

He is a smooth footballer with very silky skills and wonder why he hasn't gone further, though i did hear has done a few injuries! What are your opinions?

Im not really writing off Ironbank, i think you had a cracker start to the season, but have fallen away a little of late. Like i said, i think anything can happen in that log jam of teams on 11 wins, all you need is one suprise win by either Onkas, Blackwood, Barker or Ironbank and it could throw a whole spanner in the works. With that in mind though, i dont think you have what it takes this year, to make it into the GF, not with Uris playing how they are, and Loftys recent premership experience. But in a few years...who knows?

If Lofty want to win the GF i think they need to meld as a team a little better and really work on their 3rd quarter.

Looking at the whole season, i don't think that 3rd quarters have been Lofty's big problem. I think it's more the early stages of each quarter. In patches they'll kick 5, 6 or 7 goals, but it may take 3 or 4 minutes to do so. Sometimes int he case of 1st quarters, it may take most of the quarter to get going. It's lucky they have a good rebounding defence.

you would want this to be fixed IF :D you get another crack at uris this year ..ib have been close a couple of times to uris only to lapse for 10 mins and be blowen away .. to beat the cabbage u have to play 4 quaters of quality footy as the are such an even side you hold one or 2 and someone else pops up so it takes a total team effort to get close let alone get over the line against them :(

Spot on there Rooster, Scott Friend is a very good young player. Young Mark Nielsen from Mt Lofty has one of the best pairs of hands I have ever seen. Certainly a player to watch also

Yeah he would have to be a big chance to take out that award. Lets hope Birdwood can keep hold of him, I'm sure some bigger profile clubs would like to gain his services

The points system will only help his cause too! Young talent is likely to be the real winner in the competition under the new system!
