ha meadows will never step up to central div

Ive heard Blackwood are pulling out of Div 2 next year, but staying in the HFL comp

But if they do, I doubt too many players will be complaining about bringing the bye back in Central Div, would make the Association side suddenly more appealing next year

In Layman's terms I'd imagine "negligent" is in between "deliberate" and "unintentional". That's a pretty grey area. If he's such a short bloke and hands out a black eye, f!#k me if he didn't jump a bit. I don't blame the HFL if they're jacked off. That's a very poor precendent to be set and umpires will have to watch their backs during games, which is a disgraceful position to be in.
I still think that Blackwood and another club outside HFL have done a deal to go to SFL next year. That's what I've heard.

Girth, good point. To be brutally honest I heard it a couple of weeks ago and can't remember where. I dare say it wasn't from the club though. I think the Prez is heading off round Oz for a while, so not sure if he'll be there in the same capacity next year.

if thats the case then the club will be alot better off as for the move to the SFL i know alot of blokes from blackwood and they tell me that the whisper goes around most years but nothing ever comes of it so i guess we will have to wait and see. While we are on blackwood Carberry whats are the opinions of him as a player have seen that he has kicked a couple of bags but not much in between injured?

Yoda, obviously there are a LOT of grey areas in this case and from my experience the HFL tribunal system has always been a bit of kangaroo court/raffle (e.g Stringer incedent) with their handling of cases.

I agree with you that he shouldn't get off scot free but like I said I think a year and a half is too much for the charge he was given. The HFL just can't say "well he's a sniper, let's throw the book at him" if the penalty doesn't fit the charge.

If he actually hit (which I know he didn't) TM then I say suspend him for life. But if it's true that he got let off by the SANFL then that should be a wake-up call for the HFL for the way their tribunal works because obviously the SANFL agreed with TV and said the sentence was unfit for the charge.

It's no point the HFL being p1ssed of with the SANFL because if they had a better system this whole problem wouldn't have happened. If they'd given him about 6 weeks to start with (which IMO is about fit for the charge) then TV wouldn't have cracked up so much and taken it to the SANFL.

"If he actually hit (which I know he didn't) TM"

What an amazing statement!
From Levi Bailey - who actually saw the incident - Battams ran at TM. Now whether he was trying to intimidate him OR collide with him is conjecture - he DID deliberately run at him and in doing so, this caused a collision which DID result in a black eye to an UMPIRE.

The reasonable flok on this website don't seem to view this favourably- whether the HFL have stuffed up previous tribunals or not!!

Gimp were you one of those smart educated Kangarilla supporters that was bagging Roger on Saturday? Cos you sound like one of them!

To suggest that TM did NOT get hit by Battams is ludicrous! How did he end up with a Black eye?? Did he get it from one of those wild umpire partys they throw every Saturday night. I can see it now, Pat Lundie was stage diving and TM, Clarkey and Trev Edwards were meant to catch him and missed, this giving TM a black eye??? Or how did he get it Gimp??

If you guys take the word "hit" to mean "make contact", then yes he did "hit" him. I was assuming that when guys were saying "Battams hit TM" you were saying he was striking him which he didn't.

Pat Lundie crowd surfing...........I'd like to see that!!!

Sorry Cougar, I'm not a Kangarilla supporter.

Tex, correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't TM backing out of a ball-up? Is there a chance Battams was running at the ball which may have been on the other side of TM? I know Battams and yes he doesn't mind giving the opposition a few dirty hits here and there but he isn't the type of guy that would deliberately run at an umpire even if it was just to try and intimidate him.

Forgive my stupidity lads but as a club why are Blackwood not a force in your league, were they previously? I mean would'nt htey have the numbers on their side to put a very good A'grade team weekly?

Footymad - Blackwood have been a force in the past. In 05 they went undefeated (I think) in the minor rounds but bombed in the finals.
yes they have a massive population/player base but that won't nesessarily equate to quality. There are always rumblings there about players not being happy with the heirarchy etc.
They also have a Country division team so that takes up more numbers which I guess affects the depth of their Central team.
With the exception of last year, they've normally been a pretty competitive, round the mark club.

Girth- Carberry has been injured a lot this year- big bags have been interesting because he hasn't kicked many points in each- not bad for a bloke who tends to spray them normally! Used to be a very good leading player but tends to sit quietly in the goal square waving his sharpened elbows around! If he plays well Blackwood are a chance!
Flying fox may have an opinion??
Link between Edwardstown and blackwod to SFL is interesting seeing so many Blackwood boys have links with the townies??

Down&out...yes seen a few woods games this year and yes Carberry has kicked a few big bags. The old boys up there are starting to come good at the right time. Be an interesting clash this week. Seen Uraidla and Mt Lofty play the last few weeks and think they are still the teams to beat!
