Very good, entertaining but tight game between IB and Uraidla for 3 qtrs then Uraidla asserted their authority and ran out easy winners 17-17 to 11-5 after IB led by 4 pts at 3/4 time. Uri led by 8 pts and 15 pts at the early breaks but IB had a great 3rd qtr scoring 7-2 to 4-1 and which also saw Crabb go off injured and Cox receive a yellow card.

It was a battle of the defences throughout the day as both sides squandered chances going forward but IB made it easy work for "Plucker" Richards marking uncontested on several occasions. Uraidla were at times in uknown territory as they did not handle the pressure well with numerous turnovers but IB could not make the most of these. As has been said previously you need to keep the pressure on them for the full 100 minutes to beat them. Having said that had IB been able to contest some forward movements it might have been a different result overall. Joel Brown was well held by Wendelborn only kicking two goals for the day. Loffler also rarely sighted with Hare doing the job there. Ebert good for them, uses the ball well and surprised he was not in the best players. IB missed the run of Muffy Kartinyeri (out injured) and Gareth Williams was relatively quiet by his standards. They also played Jarrod Graetz at CHB which sort of "robbed Peter up forward" to coin a phrase. Widdison was dangerous at times but IB had no forwards that stood up in the last quarter. So its back to fifth spot for IB on the Premiership Table merry-go-round.

Kangarilla was too good for Kersbrook yesterday winning by 8 goals. The usual suspects for Kangarilla were on notice with the Wakefields and Trent Thorpe prominent, and Raidis certainly earnt his pay cheque this week. Guutnik kicked 8 and they play their oval really well. B.James was clearly the Brookers best and we didn't bring our 'A' game to Kangarilla which is what I'd suggest you need if anyone is going to beat this mob.

O'KNOWLEDGABLE ONE wrote:Shake 'n' Bake, you answered your own argument almost. I think that this is a positive step for the league to take as it will even the competition up and won't pureley rely on rich finances to be competitive each season in an unpoliced market. You say it will increase player payments in the competition, maybe that will be the case, but it also opens up the player pool as you can only play a certain number of points each saturday & if anything it raises the importance of the local players and might find that they are the ones that benefit out of it, also to have the right mix with carefully selective recruiting to ensure best outcome for each clubs squads. Thing is you can get more than 35 points worth of players but at the end of the day on the match day you can only field 35 points worth and you might have paid contract player or two or three playing b grade. I think a great idea and now recruiting the right players is even more important to find the guys that will give you some years of service and not piss off the next year. It stops the journey man footballer from prostituting themselves, well it doesn't but a club would have to be looking hard at their past which by the way has to be declared by player and agreed by club and player & league. Penalties in place for defaulting on the system intentionally. I think bring it in, each year of service a point drops so it rewards loyalty which there is jack all off these days. Anything is better than the system in place now. Earlt days but they need to make it black & white rather than clear like the salary cap is.
Just my opinion but I think there are more positives than negatives and if you are against the system then you are a club that relys too much on cash to have your team successful. I am done now!!!! :supz:

Hafey - I think that bloke was before his time , it would only have only taken a coach worth his salt for silvy's name to be mentioned in higher circles.. Could he play ametures? Yes, if the money was right.

Torrens Valley .. 1 in all in

Stirlo have just sent you PM , if you can get me his number that would be great .

Its unfortunate he hasnt had a coach worth a pinch of shit to push him to the next level .

We all know money talks with players these days and if PD can come up with the right coin i am sure Silvy would add some depth to our assault on another A1 premiership .

From the reports from the IB game it seems Uris are just doing what they do best, THEIR football. I think they're in a zone (rightfully after 15 straight) where they play like it's just a forgone conclusion that they'll get the upperhand. Is it fitness? Consistency so as they're not trailling by a lot when they are behind? From what I've seen it's a mixture. I don't reckon they ring too many changes cos they trust their blokes to get back on top in their position, or someone else will. Brown only kicks 2 and they win by 8. How are they gonna be stopped?

Interesting C grade result yesterday, did anyone else notice that the Onkas team seemed a little 'stacked' compared to all the previous games for the season?

I have no idea how Lobethal can rectify the situation they are in. The support base for them on Saturday was absolutely dismal.

I tipped an Onkas win, based really only on having nothing to lose, playing an undefeated team.
What happened out therre? I haven't heard a thing.

Congratulations to big Goo, Matt Guitink. Slotted his 100th from the Kangarilla boundary line which was followed by a very subdued invasion of the ground by about 12 Kangy fans.

Not much to really say about the C grade GF, i think they did give a BOG medal, didnt bother hanging around for presentations.

I guess there were a couple of highlights, a yellow card to Tim Johnson from Ironbank in the second or third quarter, didnt see the incident, but i think he just struck the onkas player across the face, the Onkas guy went down and was very slow to get back up.

There was a nasty clash in the final quarter, where two Ironbank players (Spiro and some young skinny guy, i think his name is Wittey or something like that) both went for the ball and had a nasty clash together. I think they were both left seeing stars, and very slow to get up, i defintely think the younger skinny guy came of second best. Was a pretty nasty clash though, i hope both are feeling okay!

The final score was fairly representative of the fact that Onkas seemed to have a few of there normal B graders in the team.

The final results were:

Onkaparinga Valley 4.9 (33) def. Ironbank 3.4 (22)

Onka Valley Best Players: Chris Bullis, Mark Brown, Craig Hutchins, Damian Mahoney, Rob Hendry. Goal Kickers: Damian Green 2, Nick Mossop, Rob Hendry 1

Ironbank Best players: Rob Biedron, Guy Harley, Adam Waddell, Tim Johnson, Shaun Lewis. Goal Kickers: Guy Harley, Tim Johnson, Daniel Pastro 1

Certainly will. They have plenty of depth with a team of twenty somethings running around in their 'B' grade, which has previously been unheard of in Div 2. Their supporters confirmed they are the most uneducated bunch going around with their continued heckling of the James boys on Saturday. They were looking for a bite and got what they deserved......Nothing. Will take some beating though in both grades.

Ooh, nasty. Spiros is a mate of mine. Hope it's not serious. he's got a pretty hard noggin though! probably still had a white can after!
Are Mt Barker now out of the race? I thought that their Blackwood clash could determine who will play in September, so sticking by that, Blackwood will. or can Ironbank fall off the pace...?

Although, I reckon they'll win this many each:
Mt Barker - 3
Ironbank - 2
Blackwood - 1
Which would actually leave Blackwood out of the finals...Mt Barker's easy run home compared to Blackwood's tough one could determine it, unless Blackwood can knock off Onkas this weekend.
Confused myself there...
