Tex.....did you see the Battams incident??? From my understanding he has been charged with making deliberate contact with an umpire not striking. Apparently the ball was kicked into the area and as TM was trying to back out of the way he and Battams collided. Would have thought it would be easier to cite him for negligent contact or reckless etc as now TM has to prove he deliberately went for him.

Battams may be an old school player... ie hit or get hit, but there is no way he would try to hit an ump......surely none of us know anyone that plays in either div that is likely to do that??

Anyone know why Gumeracha B grade forfeited? Know if they will front up this week?

I know Gums are struggling for numbers, but I think the state of Maccy Oval Last week made it an easy option to pull the pin on the 'B's. Reckon if you're playing them at their home ground, they'll front up with 2 sides.

As for the Kersbrook v Callington situation, I think Kersbrook had to submit to the HFL last night, what sort of financial burden Callingtons forfeit was last week. With gate takings, bar, canteen and we've been averaging over 100 meals each Saturday Night, I'd imagine it would be $ome figure.

Will be interesting to hear the Battams verdict tonight.

DA - sorry, mate, didn't hear the speech. Couldn't have been too inspiring as I think Hahndorf outscored Lofty in the last. From memory they kicked maybe 3 out of the first 4 goals.
It took a couple of sneaky runs from Salad through the middle to get Lofty back on track.
And I think I saw Fleety grab 3 hamstrings on Sunday...

Disappointing to see Fleet has lost the plot. The boy can play but seems like the left ventricle has gone again.....

BTW JQ, Chuck Norris' calendar goes straight from March 31st to April 2nd......No-one fools Chuck Norris.

Their biggest cost of all GD will be their credibility. From what I've heard, they still seem to think it was all justified and don't want to discuss it. 8-9 sick players has grown to 19-20, depending on who you listen to. Hope the HFL will also touch on the subject of lost votes for a potential Brookers' Mail Medal winner, not to mention leading goal-kickers etc.

The players not rocking up side of it has been going on for a while too. You can go right back to the 2001 season where they'd be competitive at home and get absolutely flogged for their away games.

Like it, Bernie. Reminded me to update my signature!
Re Fleet - he was massively lost at HB. His man did as he pleased and Fleet just walked around. I know it's hard to go from one end of the field to pretty much the other, but just laying a shepherd, getting a fist to the ball, just things like that would be effective and probably would have cut out about 3 goals. With 6 blokes to come back, he's in strife.
For Lofty to belt Blackwood this week, they'll need a couple back.

The Eagles of the very early years had some passion. No-one would've ever just 'not rocked up' in those days. In their best year (1998 - 4th) no player was paid one cent. Some got a free meal Thurs and Sat nights. Nearly all the players were from Cally, Kanmantoo and Barker and many had played school footy together. No passion now and anything over 25kms is too much effort. And the Murray Bridge factor which crept in a few years back was the beginning of the end I reckon.
Older, wiser and been there. But still love that grassroots country footy.

ahhhh, I remember the Callington 98 side, lost semi-final final to Ironbank at Echunga, very unpredictable. Could topple one of the top sides (Ironbank, Echunga, Kersbrook) one week, then lose to chumps the next. Come to think of it, nothing much has changed.

Looking forward to hearing the result of the tribunal tonight. You would think if he has only been charged with making contact with an umpire his suspension wont be too big, well compared to being charged with striking.

Tanka, I didnt see it but Levi Bailey did and thought it was deliberate. As Levi explained it TM went to take evasive action as he saw Battams charging him in doing so he turned his head the wrong way and Battams collected him across the head where as he probably would have hit on the shoulder had TM not moved at all. Point is Levi thought that he intentionally ran at TM to make contact. It will be interesting to see if they can prove it.

'The Big Red' Barnett at Cally. He has tried to get things up and running, but it seems that again things have come unstuck. he is a good bloke but he now has had a go at Goolwa/Port Elliot, Hamley Bridge and Callington with similar results. Most highly paid so called stars are no good for country clubs

If it WAS an accidental collision, how does TM sustain a black eye when he is over 6ft and Battams around the 5ft mark??

I am certain it was no accident and Levi was 100% certain it was no accident. All of us that Know TM know he would not say it was deliberate if it wasnt. Good umpire Good bloke.

So Cougar and Tex you are both saying that after playing over 10 years in Div 2/Country football Rio decided to deliberately hit an umpire and possibly never play again.....am I getting this right????
