They were both visiting rellies in the Mount, a good little pre-season for the footy trip to Melbourne!

bays had a great day at the footy club on sat with a blokes Grand Final Day. 60 past, present players rocked up for the day and enjoyed strippers, free drinks all day and footy on a big screen, club made $1500 also in profits. Footy trips are great but these sort of days are the more affordable option these days.

Saints boys were saying they got a great deal to go to Gambier $275 for the bus and motel rooms with some free grog. Then one of the pubs gave them a whole bar to themselves and for $50 a head were given free vodka, scotch, beam and beer for the duration of the GF. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Yep have to agree with you there Cuzzy!!
Those kind of days are great team and club bonding things you have to do to get stronger. Raising a bit of money for the club makes it an extra bonus. :D
As for interstate footy trips, i reckon local ones where every one hops on a bus and goes to a country town somewhere are more fun. Half the fun is had on the bus rides there and on the way home. When you go interstate, you seem to get split up a bit more and don't do things as a group, which is the sole purpose of footy trips, to celebrate another year of footy together and get closer as a playing group to try and build a bit of comradery for the next season. :partyman:  :vom: :goodman:

We got something like that at Mt Gambier last year as well, from the Irish pub on the other side of the main road near Target. Room with bar and pool table and music. Quiet spot, then head back over the road to the G afterward.

It's quite funny actually.

My family and I went to the Mount Gambier region last year for a week. We had a meal one night at the Kingston Hotel and my husband got talking to the publican... he seemed to know everything there was to know about things that were happening at our club and in the GSFL in general.

Although there is a little distance between the towns...I wonder if he got his knowledge via one of these footy trips :D

The Langhorne Creek boys will be heading to Clare in a couple of weeks time for their trip. Lets hope the local constabulary aren't required to give anyone a free night's accommodation whilst we're in town.

The Goolwa Boys down in the South East in Mt Gambier had a wonderful time. I thought their behaviour was excellent. Some very funny boys at the Mt Gambier Hotel. The Poker machines were not kind to them and they took it very well.

I took a netball side down in the Coach, and I hear a there were 2 very lucky Goolwa Boys.

Clearly your report is way off the mark Magoo. To suggest that only 2 Goolwa boys got "lucky" is an extreme underestimate (however it must be said that the Compass boys provided little to no competition) As for the behaviour side of things, you must have missed the 2 arrests. Just dont tell the treasurer that we lost the $1000 bond.

Sorry...I should have explained better

2 Saints boys got lucky with the netballers on my Coach.
How your boys fared with the locals I have no idea

Advise them not to head upstairs into the private residence of one of the pubs and do some wine tasting.

Remember... What happens on a Footy trip stays on a footy trip, even if it was ages ago.

Pretty smart by the Creek guys. They can claim their Footy Trip as a Tax deduction.
