OK guys, enough on last year! Isn't this year shaping up to be a cracker?! Couple of big games this week, with United at Balak and us at Mallala. And the Roosters to rebound from their loss to the Peckers with a comfortable hiding of the hapless Bombers. Balak will be keen to avenge their first round disappointment at the Water Tower, while the grand final replay at Mallala should be a beauty! It sounds like Balak are starting to get back to something resembling their strongest side, and won't be without a chance against the Tigers, but not sure I'll be tipping them. Anyway here goes:

Two Wells by 100+
HWE by 13
United/Balak DRAW

You heard it first... ;)

So Geelong choked last year?

By definition swamp yes.

Well I guess we could discuss forever in a day with many many loosing GF teams, but as we all know it what happens this year and next year and the next year that matters. No doubting Mallala should have won it last year, while I dont agree that choked is the term to use, they simply didnt perform, I and most others who watched the game would suggest that Mallala performance was restricted by HWE gameplan on that day, which is what footy is all about. Stopping the opposition and kicking goals!! Choke or no choke, HWE did this better last year!
Time will tell!!!

Interesting that you say Balak are starting to resemble there strongest side Jack. I've heard that the likes of Wilmer & Luke Tezacker both played B's last week. Are these guys out of form with maybe AJ's patience finally running out (in which case, was well warranted given the good win they had against TW) or was it simply that these these guys were returning from injury??

From what i saw at the weekend, i would think that Wilmer may struggle to get in the best side, they have some good kids having a dip!

Two Wells over Hamley by 17-18 goals
HWE over Mallala 5-6 goals
United over Balak 6-7 goals

I agree Jack we're in for a sensational remainder of the year. My table prediction at the end of the home and away season is:

HWE
Mallala
United
Virginia
Two Wells
Balaklava
Hamley

with less than 2 games between top and 5th! You heard it first..... since Jacks post :D

What are everyones thoughts on the "call to arms" Cancer fundraiser happening this week. Personally I think it is a great idea for all clubs to be involved as the money donated goes towards Mens Cancer awareness. Our club had a fundraiser last year when we played Mallala and raised over $2,000.

This year the league has taken it upon itself to make a "call to arms round" to raise money from all clubs. This is where I get confused as this weekend is the 27th of June and all advertising from "call to arms" including its website states that fundraising is to take place during July. Has the league made a mistake by scheduling it a week too early?

To make it clear I fully support the idea of having a round dedicated to it, but would have thought that it would more appropriate for awareness purposes to hold it in July when probably other leagues including the AFL are also promoting it.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

I don't care when they schedule it. It's a great initiative.

:butthead: Surely now Swampy will stop tipping against his own side after the pantsing the Magpies gave us on Saturday! Very much back on track they are I'd say, and for us, very much back to reality!

How did the Toga night go at the MFC Swamp? Surely a bit of Roman excess and debauchery had by all???
