Gents why was only one player taken from the Hills into the Southern Dist. side?
Did players decide not to put their hands up as I'd think there's be plenty that would be worth a look in.
Who is Gareth Williams? Onballer? Lofty player?

There's be another 10 blokes that would push for that side from Uraidla & Lofty however the big Courier Cup Final is on between them this weekend, unfortunate timing I suppose but then again I think you had to play association to qualify & from memory only a few did (and I believe zero from Uraidla).

Little Gaz Williams is probably best summed up like a Tony Francis mould, whilst not much of him he is nuggety & will hold his own strength wise, has speed to burn & very good on both sides with disposal. Get's alot of free kicks in & under as it is hard for the tall blokes to get down & tackle him around the hips... not having a dig @ his height there, true fact.

Won the HFL U17 Mail Medal 3 years back & has really started to find his feet in senior footy nowadays, well deserved selection IMHO.

Will be interesting to see how the Southern side lines up then as they have also taken M Portlock and M Burdett, both very capable and short players in the same ilk as G Wiliams - they were also struggling for quality ruckmen and have taken a 2nd string ruckman from the GSFL.

Gents, early news from roo park is roos 9.3 def onka's 5.10

Roos younger runners kept going all day and onka's couldn't keep up. Oval is just sticky mud with no water. Still slippery but some good footy was played in all grades.

A couple of light weeks on the oval and next home game should be alright. Better than today anyway!

Match report Onkas Vs MtBarker: It was pretty clear from the outset that both grades were going to be pretty low-scoring, it was a really sticky surface so the ball stayed in the packs all day - but i doubt it was anywhere near as bad as last week.
B grade continued their recent good form with a win over the roo's. Onkas started well with a couple of early snaps at goal finding their mark and from then on they just cruised through to victory - if i do say so myself the onkas B's are certainly in mix now for the flag - its going to be a very competitive year in the B grade come finals time thats for sure.
A grade was pretty dissapointing for the Doggies - got off to a great start but Mt barker just ran circles around us in the 2nd by getting first hands on the ball in packs and dishing out wide to the runners, just seemed as though onkas didnt want it as much and were often second to the ball. The 3rd term saw both sides going back and fourth with onkas having alot more posession of the ball and plenty of shots on goal but were just unable to convert on the main side of the board. The final term was more of the same with a late run from onka's proving to be too little too late. Well done to the Barkerroos they played the conditions well but onkas certainly didn't play to their full potential and will be looking for redemption next week against ironbank.

* in a seperate note interesting to see that the top 4 sides in A's and B's are the only 4 clubs that produced C grade teams.... conicidence or not?
Cheers lads!

Sorry, but im a footy fan with no particular alliance (as you can see by previous posts) and was at the Ironbank Vs Lobethal game today (closest to home). 2nd time seeing Ironbank this year, in the B Grade no one will go near Ironbank B grade except for Lofty and will be as good as the senior grand final (I havnt seen onkas Bs play since rd2, but if they are contenders then they have improved phenominally) and the way Ironbank played today would have beaten the Lofty Bs by five goals on their last performance (sorry onkas mate but its a two horse race with at least four guys I can tell to come back for each side). Also the Ironbank As were as good as any team today but need to just lift a little in all areas to be competitive with the top three. Big improvement on the Lofty game though. Tough year for Lobethal.
