Hope we haven't signed 16 steiger - I won't get a game in B Grade! I think WCP's report of 5 might be closer to the mark but I will endeavor to find out more. I know Rohan McDonald is one of the signings.

Always a spot for you Eppie! Just has to be within 20 metres of goal so you make the distance!!
Hopefully the new B grade coach doesn't have the "Hankins philosopy" where you have to train at least 4-5 weeks before you get a game. Otherwise you & I are stuffed and will be pissed b4 half time of the As!

This all provides very interesting reading, and looks like season 2007 is shaping up as a dynamite year in more ways than one. If what the BFC is doing is correct, then it makes for some very interesting league meetings in the next month or so. The exceptions and concessions that were recently granted may well be removed. I am sure that a vote would carry the support of MR & W, and LS and T usually follow suit in these matters.

If the JCS offer is right, then the BFC has just moved the PLFL into another phase of player enticements. Offering those sort of bucks to a 19yo to entice him across creates an enormous rod for your back and is very short term thinking.
I know that the BFC will argue that they have sat back and had all other clubs do this to them over the years, and they are only 'getting with the programme' and that is partly true, but they cannot deny that their current situation has been caused mainly by poor management, dreadful decision making and an overall disregard to move with the times.
Begs the question do all other PLFL clubs have to pay the penalty for the Tigers previous irresponsibilty?

BTB no financial offer put to JCS. Can confirm. ( And yes I no of any catering committees)

Can I please be told the concessions granted to the BFC. I get mixed reports, and only reply if you have the facts please.

I dont think Bostons would have that sort of money to be throwing around.
We have only won 1 premiership in 30 years to, can we have some consessions?
Has anyone seen the amount of numbers we are getting to the complex on weknights? who needs pokies when you have a great venue that is a "happening place"?

What are the concesions that have been granted to Bostons? I know there was some talk late in the season about asking permision for Harvey to play if the Maggies don't select him but that is the only one I'm aware off. Are there more? Are these consesions financial? If they are then I would think the leauge would have to seriously look at the money being paid to recruit players. Tiger07 needs to comment on this.

I am surprised eski that someone who knows what has or has not been offered to a player is unaware of the concessions agreed to by the PLFL clubs to assist the tigers plight.

Not sure of all the finer details, but does allow BFC to name a squad of untouchables (12 players?) that cannot be targetted, a 'no go' zone for junior talent being 'poached' by other PLFL clubs once they come out of junior ranks, relaxing of the rules for players coming back from Adelaide or elsewhere to play (ie Joel Harvey/Port Districts last year) and the ability to play 'guest' players from other leagues without the bona fide residence or employment restrictions to name a few.

I am sure that El Presidente can garnish you with the finer details over a latte at your next strategy meeting.

Those 3 players will certainly make them more competitive. B&F in 2006 premiership team isn't over the hill.
However, the main benefit will be that having those highly respected players will certainly help Bostons attract and retain more players than might otherwise have been the case.

Beat me to it boags. Bostons throw in Hully (last year B&F) Watho (anyone who saw his rucking effort in the semi would not call him over the hill), a rejuvenated and committed panther sitting in a forward pocket would command respect, and then even a couple others (from other clubs of course (wink wink) - JCS, Harvs, Polky, Liddy, Beau, etc. and bingo guess who's won a game. Care for a bet OL

I've been at struggling clubs, and although I admire some of what's happening at Bostons for the benefit of PLFL, a lack of premierships DOES NOT make for a stronger case for concessions.

'Borrowing' players from, for example Eastern Eyre, for a game sounded like a reasonable proposition a few months ago. However, with continued recruiting this could potentially tip the balance too far in Bostons favour? No team would be impressed being beaten by a team with a few ring ins, which might effect their claim for a finals spot. Perhaps play the first round with these concessions and then review after 5 games?
Requested concessions also included a request that Bostons somehow have first option on any newcomer to town. This request was surely tongue in cheek & unworkable. The other proposed concessions have merit though.
Not sure of the result of the league meeting 15/10 where the proposals were scheduled to be tabled.

Like Devlin Walsh

If we can get half the players that have shown interest to me, finals aren't out of the question
