And just on best players awards, Can i ask why junior best players dont get there awards unless they come back to heathfield that night? I think its a very rough policy, IB juniors get there awards straight after the game, then if they can turn up Sat night they go up on stage to get a free coke. Has it always been like this at lofty? And does it cause more juniors to come back?

Pretty sure this isn't the policy for Juniors, and has only been trialled in Seniors in last couple of weeks as some slack (but talented) B graders seem to shoot off before the presentations. Can't see why they would, it's at least 6 bourbons between the end of B's and Presos!! Does make for some interesting speeches.

What sort of comments and at who, Schimma?
They were probably p#ssed off at seeing how far off the pace they are./quote.

in regards to the comments racial slurs toward a lofty forward, calling him a terrorist a wog and any other thing they could say,, really shit by onkas.. dont know is owen was amongst or near (as his was floating around all day) these idoits but this should have been dealt with by either ejection or a fine towards onkas. really something should have been done... bantar is a good thing but racial slurs to a player when your team is getting beltted is not on [-X

Has anyone actually sat down at written a decent letter to the editor about barker oval/facilities?

Good call devilatheart. The childish redneck behaviour of the Onkas supporters was disgraceful. I understand that the player in question's father is a ortho surgeon whom donates time and service to be Lofty's club doctor every weekend- for an educated respected volunteer to have to listen to pathetic rascist comments about his son by a bunch of Oakbank hillbilly's, you would want thick skin to continue volunteering. Anyone in the region of the town of Balhannah would have heard the comments, and Owen was there (though he may not have heard them as he would've been staring lovingly internally singing the song "My eyes adored you" at Trzesinski all day). Hopefully something is done about it, as you can bet that if the player targeted by the abuse was an indigineous Australian rather than an Australian of Indian descent there would definitely be something done.

Such comments reflect a lack maturity and just show how much of a dumbarse the offender really is.
Re the whole HFL thing - could there be monthly meetings at HFL HQ, with a rep from EVERY club at the meeting, like a board, so grievances get aired?

I have been in touch with the President of HFL re the Mt Barker oval issue and had a hearty discussion with him. He too is most concerned about the state of the oval and in fact the fear of a player (espicially a junior) becoming infected.

He was most receptive to receiving my Letter to the Editor (provided it had my name on it).

Any other interested parties should follow suit.

Thunder down under.

Given the shortage of ovals in the HFL what would you suggest that Owen does?

As much of a disgrace Mount Barker Oval is it seems that the only people complaining about it are Iron Bank supporters pissed off that they were beaten by a bottom five side.

Bridgewater, Ironbank, Lofty are all under water as well. Anyone that watched the Hawks and the Crows on saturday night would have seen that AMMI Stadium was in its worst state I reckon I have ever seen.

I see where you're coming from, Rapper but I think the main issue is health. Consensus seems to be that it was not just mud but smelt like sewerage and read DA's earlier post...NASTY!

I agree if its a health issue.

I think Mount Barker definetly needs a new oval given the number of kids that run around it.

I also think Ironbank who have a great juniour program could do with the help of the Council to provide them with better facilties.

I haven't complained, but you've gotta be realistic...you walk out your front door on a Saturday morning healthy, play at Mt Barker and are in hospital a few days later with an infection. Wanting that rectified isn't soft, it's smart.
It's a winter sport and ovals will get boggy, I mean I was a Dev and we had one of the worst ovals (better now by far), Hahndorf, Bridgey. But if it stinks like sh#t, and possibly has sh#t in it, why SHOULD you play?

Spot on JQ I was at the ground the whole day and after going out for the first quarter for the Senior Colts would not venture back out for the septic smell. I have also played on very boggy grounds both Country and Central in the past but it is the sewerage that I object to. We had a similar story to DA's a few years back that some may remember with Scrim getting a very bad infection that hospitalised him, from cow pats at Kersbrook. I would suggest Owen speak to Monica and move the remaining Mt. Barker games to Milang.

TDU, any news on Barny French playing the last few games up at the thunderdome?? or was that all wishful thinking? Hopefully young Gazz williams makes the zone team, i saw he was the only hills player at training last week, Big Owen would be heartbroken there wasnt more numbers.

Loosen the blinkers there Rapper... reading back over the posts relating to this topic I could only find praise for a more gritty & determined Mt Barker side (from IB people)... not one single excuse (or comments that could be misinterpreted in that way).

I cannot recall many posts re: Mt Barker at all on this forum & can only think they do not have anybody interested...all good. However, if there are any out there I am sure we would all like to hear their thoughts on the matter.

What astounds me (and it is hard to paint the picture, you really had to see it - OR DARE I SAY stand in/around it) is that I am led to believe they trained on the oval both nights last week...WTF?

And not at all sure what your comments relating to AAMI stadium insinuate, the overhead marking & slick posession game the Crows played (over 400 touches) probably says that conditions were condusive to free flowing footy? Not something generally associated with mud & rain... In saying that with the ca$h at their disposal, you'd expect nothing less...

Hello Indian, I to hope Gazz does well although he is one of my concerns regarding this oval fiasco. He received a big gash to the head on Saturday and went back on in the mud, and although our new medico cleaned it out afterwards I hope he is careful. School Hols this week so the other IB player from assoc could not make the trainings as he is away with Winger.

i gather that would be will muirden. although not in the top echelon of hills players, i reckon Will mightve had a good chance of making the side cause they need 6 or 7 under 21's. Wouldve been a great experience for the lad. hope he makes the effort to train this week

When i dropped in on Sunday Ironbank Oval was in perfect condition. Tiny bit of water on the outside of the boundary but cross that white line and it was perfect. Have you been to the oval or you jst assuming that it would be in bad condition because of your biast against Ironbank and their facilities.
