2 Old...I posted a bit earlier my concerns re Lofty starts to games. I think they will account for the Dogs, but it won't be a half time and onwards slaughter. They'll kick a few late in the third and finish off Onkas in the last.
And so far, there's no way that they have rectified their sluggish starts. Uri's will not let them get away with it. Mind you, I think Uri's are all that Lofty have to worry about at the moment.

My bad on the Loby post there Joe. Would love to hear how your sweets go against Blackwood. At the end of the day, everyone here hates Blackwood, so hope you blokes get up over the trailer park trash.

The condition of the oval and facilities at Mt Barker were an absolute disgrace for a Central Division game.

Perhaps Sgt Williams should have spent some money on the upgrade on the oval instead of the stupid PA system which blasts out tunes at each break.

The oval smelt of raw sewerage, hope no player had a cut as I would suspect an infection would be on the cards.

If it was any other oval it would be condemned but we all know the relationship between Sgt Williams and OIC Lamshed !!

Perhaps a Letter to Editor of the budget might be on the agenda but will it be printed, I guess I have to put my real name to it.
A 3's on winner is better than a 20/1 loser !!

That's quick for those scores. Well done to all involved in getting them up! Good work as usual M80!

TDU, funny you should say that. It was well documented in previous debate about Mt Barkers totally disgraceful facilities compared to other grounds.

Back in 2002 playing on Mt Barker (in atrocious conditions) I received a corky right under my kneecap which also broke the skin. Pretty standard footy injury really. 1.5 - 2 weeks later it felt a bit weird before going to sleep one night but I didn’t think anything of it. About 2am I woke to the worst pain I've ever felt and my knee was the size of a football (no exaggeration! Sherrin could have used is as a quality control test!)

After stupidly waiting until morning in intense pain to consult a doc, he sent me straight to hospital with septic arthritis (think Harry Kewell missing the Italy Game in the world cup). Matthew Liptak did the surgery to remove all the infection and after having a phat chunk of flesh removed from under my left knee, he said I was VERY lucky not to lose my leg and another few of hours of waiting for surgery and I could have kicked the bucket altogether.

I’m pretty sure Burchy also had issues a couple of years back with an infection after a scratch received at Mt Barker and missed a couple of games (he’s tougher than me!!)

So there you have it. You have evidence of the shiteheap, health-hazard that is Mt Ronnie. I’m still trying to wash the sand out of my date after playing there in the wet 2 years ago!

Kersbrook Oval like many other Hills Ovals is now 'Gone'. i.e. finished

M80s, Kangarilla (Dark Blue) and Kersbrooks (Light Blue) guernseys aren't too bad to distinguish on a dry, bright day, but fear if we play on a dark day with Boggy conditions, we might be handballing to each other!

Good luck with your letter to the Budget TDU re the stinking Mount Barker Oval. I always put my name on mine and they never get printed; just seems to make O worse!

Saw the Cally v Gumeracha game yesterday and I would have to say there was virtually nothing to report. Cally looked undermanned judging by the amount of B graders in the As but both sides looked VERY ordinary. The game was very close all day with no more than a goal or two in it at any time, until Cally finally broke away in the last quarter. The oval surface still appeared to be well above average, especially given the rainfall over the last few weeks but the general conditions were atrocious. Sideways rain all afternoon made ball handling challenging, with both sides opting to kick off the ground where possible. Cally's indigenous players looked inept in the wet, as they do. Couldn't see the scoreboard for most of the game and when asked for best players later I wasn't able to name any for either side (and I hadn't had a beer all day either; too bloody cold!) The best thing about the day was the hamburgers!

I guess Cally are my local club zone-wise but I love country footy anywhere. I'm not involved with any club these days, so it's a bonus to sit on a safer side of the fence staying dry! I like to watch Echunga and Nairne/Bremer also, but know more about the Cally boys and therefore feel more confident posting a match report. Looking forward to this Sat., Rams v Cally. Should really be a good guide to where both are at so will definitely post one if not stymied by work!

Im going to jump on the band wagon here TDU! The surface at Mt Barker is more than disgraceful and needs action fast. The HFL should be looking to move all games from this ground and relocating else where! i was appaulled at the conditions the players were subject to and can't believe Mt. Barker are allowed to play games there. In some parts of the oval the mud was 15cm's thick, how can players be expected to play on that! Ironbank supporters have the right to winge about this oval and i for one hope the HFL intervenes. Ironbank have been continously ridiculed about their facilities and oval and then to have slog it out on an oval of that standard is highly hypocritical.

Once the players came off the ground they then had to find a way to wash the appaulling filth off there once sanitary bodies, from all accounts showers with poor water pressure, that were clogged and became a 20cm mud bath definitely didn't do the job. Then to walk up stairs into the bar and be slogged by inflated bar prices and a poor selection of beers capped off an un impressive (to say the least) day at a once notorious finals football ground!

Mt Barker Football club as a whole should be embarassed and an apology should be forwarded to Ironbank! They need to abort all games that are scheduled to be played at this ground and the HFL needs to step in and make this happen! I for one sincerely hope that no other football clubs are subjected to such conditions! And welcome all teams to Ironbank, a place with BRILLIANT FACILITIES! A Large Variety of cold beers at good prices, hot showers, a small but otherwise excellent playing surface and changerooms that though consist of a shed are large and of a quality Mt Barker wouldn't know of.

By far the most disgraceful conditions ever witnessed for a football game yesterday. I played the day Bridgy Oval was flooded and that was nothing compared to yesterday. The game should have been relocated. Your leg literally sunk to half way up ya shin when ever u took a step. No one could get above a slow slow jog. No grass on the oval whatsoever. Its hard to desribe just how bad it was and probably not appreciated by those not out there. Mt Barker have another game at home this week but that oval will not be up to scratch for atleast a couple of weeks. The league MUST take immediate action to relocate this weeks game.

Alot of players were blinded for a couple mins after being tackled into the mud. I know a few Ironbank players myself included had itchy, bloodshot, infected eyes last night after getting mud in them. Just disgraceful.

devils A Grade pumped onkas today by about 12 goals and if it wasnt for irratic kicking couldve been 20. flo, chappy, paechy and woody were on fire.

unfortunately though we were well beaten in the twos. first defeat for the yr. simply played the conditions alot worse than they did. and again bad kicking cost us, whereas they kicked really well, 15.3 to 8.9.

It would be worth getting a copy of next week's Budget/Final Siren/Soapbox or whatever its called to see if any letters do get printed about the Mt Barker situation. Sounds like nothing has changed from when I was playing around that way. Hopefully the editorial policy will be fair and balanced on it!

Mt Barker tend to operate under a different system to some other clubs, and the redoubtable PC Plod certainly seems to run a ship that works off this differing system/standard very well. Put it this way - if that had been Echunga or Uraidla, the game would have been moved.

we played in MUD in 1978 and they are still playing in MUD 2007. nothing appears to have changed in all this time.

regards to the inflated bar prices/food prices (and someone correct me if things have changed) is that the roos have to pay hire fees on what's actually not there's. it belongs to the council/basketball. for them to make money they would be better off pitching a tent for selling booze and food.

Mt Mudpit aside, we've glossed over some pretty interesting results here, lads.
I thought the Roos were in with a chance, but an 8 goal win? Surely they're a chance for the 5 now...
I picked Bridgey to take the points at Hahndorf. The Maggies must really be scratching their heads now. Where to for them?
And Lofty pumping Onkas. Are there now genuinely only 2 contenders...?
