I don't know if I agree with the saying, but a loss can help you pinpoint your weakness/es.

Well he could have said that Maccy would make Top 4, Maccy beat Kersbrook and then to top it off say Roger James is on big bucks. That would make him an 'idiot'!

Seems a bit strange that they will struggle to make the 5 with the likes of Badanoch Pagey and Golding (Ex Glenelg) running around playing B-Grade what is happening down there?

Also is Ben Layley out at Blackwood this season?

It's not the Matt Golding that played for Glenelg & Adelaide

Would like to hear your thoughts on Pagey leaving the ground at 3/4 time to prepare for coaching the main game... can the Woods really expect to compete when the game is there to be won & take off the most damaging player on the ground? Can only think that teammates would do it tough knowing they dont have him to close out the match (and are also one man down on the bench)
i would think pagey was the most dominate player in the first half last sat in the bs started at full back where he was setting up play then into the middle in the second where he sat out the back and got heaps of ball and kept blackwood in the game ..ringo went onto him after half time and pinched, niggled, wormed, nudged and generally harassed the hell out of him this took him out of the game and frustrated the hell out of pagey :D :D
maybe pagey should b playing agrade so he dosnt leave the team a man short for the last quarter i remember in round 1 him leaving the ground at 3/4 time also helped us get over the line 8) 8)

Yeh agree mate, Ringo did a super job & has now created a rod for his own back...

Pagey simply fitting in where the speed of the game wont expose him, couldn't see him keeping up with the big boys these days but very smart player whom I have not seen waste a posession EVER...

Would be interesting to hear if any Woods followers know the answer? Does he prefer to coach the A's from the sideline nowadays or just realises the pace required for A grade footy aint there any more?

Personally, I'm not a fan of playing coach in A grade. But Blackwood's situation is pretty unusual. So he plays B's, then leaves to coach A's?
If he's good enough to keep his team in the game, you play him when you can, but leaving at 3/4 time just doesn't help anyone and can screw up your momentum.

You Ironbank lads may know already but the good news re Kenny is that he'll walk again. Broke a bone in his neck in 2 places. Will be bed-ridden for about 6 weeks though, poor b#stard won't be allowed to move that whole time.
Just one of those things. You see some crazy stuff and no-one gets hurt, then a simple marking contest and...

Someone should let Shane know about this site - there's talk about his injury on several threads. May cheer him up to know so many people care.

Also, might give him something to do if he can get on a puter while he's laid up!

From my point of view wonder elephant ex is a brilliant coach on the sidelines, but probably lacks a little on the field. I think his organisation with the runner and the lack of a confident assistant coach could cause problems for them in the crunch games! Can't be a good thing for a runner to be making decisions surely! Having said that the improvement from the first game to last weeks game was very noticeable.

If your talking current successful playing coaches you have to look at Sutherland from Uraidla. has that bloke got it down pat or what! For mine the issue with a playing coach is that the support staff come under greater scrutiny, with good organisation, a good assistant and the right bloke Uraidla have proven it can be extremely successful.

Shake, fair point though. But Sutherland has some real good cattle out there but obviously he and his coaching/support team complete the package.
Any POV's on this w/ends games?
Initially I thought that Onkas couldn't get within cooee of the Devs, but the Dogs seem to grow another leg against Mt Lofty so I expect a cracker out at Balhannah.
Onkas could beat the Devs this week, then get over the line by less than 5 goals against a Lobey or Hahndorf. Unpredictable.
