Onto the weekend's games.....

IB will get up by 9 points at Blackwood. Need a good performance after a schalacking least weekend. If they are to challenge the top 2-3 they need to pull their socks up after being embarrased at home.
Lobey by a goal over the Dorfers in a dismal affair. Wait till next year boys.
Uraidla.......by 100+........goals. Shanty no show as the Uri's train rolls onto the Lofty showdown.
Onka's by 80 points. They seem to have stalled mid-season and need to pick up if they are to challenge the top 2.
Lofty by 5 goals. The Roos always seem to get up for the game at Blonde-Tips Park but Lofty have too much class and toughness to wear the visitors down.

My view on a couple of things too.
Some grounds have walls, trenches, etc right next to them and occasionally injuries or incidents will occur but in the main they tend to be accidents. Clubs could minimise the chances by moving boundary lines in, covering drainage trenches, etc.. However, $ may be an issue sometimes with clubs. Don't know how you would do that for the scorers box at IB...maybe padding from a padded cell down at Glenside? I would guess a few of the locals have been there from time to time..... :D
As far as Johnny Floreani, the guy can play, as seen by his SANFL career. However, from what I have seen he is not the flashy type who will stand out. He won't bust through packs or run 1000 miles an hour, however, he seems to hit a target every time and come up with the ball in every contest. I guess it depends on you definition of "Best Players" whether he gets a run in there every week. But there will always be differences in opinion!!! As we have seen on this forum.

Not sure if this has been discussed but what is going on at Nairne?, kicking doors in to get at the Umpires. This is real trashy stuff, the sort of behaviour they would've accused a club like Cally of. I guess it's different when it's the Rams !
And what was Jaensch and McDonald thinking ! You only get so many chances.

I'm assuming when you talk about Jaensch and McDonald it is regarding the under 18 state team? Heard certain sturt boys were at an after match function after their game against the under 20 team and took advantage of the free grog a little too much. Started mouthing off and becoming rowdy! Just what i heard.... Silly boys.. way to ruin a massive opportunity...wonder how the AFL clubs will look upon this

Common lads, boys will be boys! When there's free booze on offer, you gotta smash it!

It's like the AFL, everyone expects players to act like prince charmings like they're up on some magical pedestall as role models for kids etc. All footballers are ordinary people and they make cock ups from time to time.

I say admire what they do on field, Ignore what they do off it.

Drink up lads......especially if it's someone elses shout! :drinkers:

So you say drink up DA. Are you aware that they were not selected in the State Under 18's team as a consequence of this misdemeanour. I am sure that they are regretting the incident now.

In Central Division this week I think IB will bounce back against Blackwood, Hahndorf to beat Lobethal, How far Uraidla and Onkas and Mt Lofty to win in a close one.
For some backing a Melb Cup winner at 125/1 is a dream........for me its a fact !!!

Don't take me too seriously. I'm not in the habit of saying sensible things.

I do think that off-field indescretions are scrutinised way too much though.

Ironbank vs Blackwood synopsis.

Ist qtr all IB but let down with poor kicking for goal 4.7 to 0.4. Pagey gave a very animated speech at qtr time and it had the desired effect as they kicked 6 goals to 1 to lead by a point at half time. Even third qtr and Blwd let by 5 pts at 3/4 time. IB ran all over them in last qtr kicking 7 goals to 1, 4 coming from Wendelborn who had kicked 4 pts up to that stage.

Good team effort considering Graetz late withdrawal so no FF and Muffy not well so started on the bench. However in last qtr he was sensational with some Blwd players still looking for him. Matt Smith BOG at CHF, back to his New York Magpies form.

It was a clean sweep for IB from Under 10's right through to A Grade.

Blwd President Benson at presentation not too happy that he only had 15 fit players at the end of the game. It's a bit like getting a flat tyre on your caravan, its called bad luck.

He should have kicked 8 !!

All four shots prior to the last quarter were set shots, whilst conditions were blustery and windy there were no excuses. He always looks dangerous up forward with his ability to take the big mark. I'm not sure where he was the middle half of the game so perhaps he was well held.

Interesting question as to how many goals decides whether a backman has the better of a forward on the day.

Here u are M80s: Kersbrook def Torrens Valley

The Cheque Books were off to a great start slamming on the first 6 goals of the match against a startled Kersbrook line up. TV's Josh Hill (Who is this bloke? Got the biggest guns in Hills Footy) took a couple of hangers and Gary's new recruit looked dangerous as TV's bigger players dominated. Kersbrook were without there only bloke above 6 foot 2" in Brad Green and things looked ominous for the home side. The quater siren couldn't come quick enough for Kersbrook and when play resumed, Brett James moved off half back into the middle and the game turned around. The Brookers tied things up at half time and then ran over the top of TV in the 2nd half. With 10 minutes to go in the final quater the Brookers were up by 8 goals and the match was all but over. Brett and Paul James were standouts for the Brooks while Carter for TV tried hard. Ivan Silvy started off the bench for TV and this Mail Medalist (Adelaide Plains) and ex SANFL footballer is obviously spending his pay cheque from Gary Hughes on McDonalds. Also understand TV payed a couple of Kilburn footballers to TRAIN with them last week in a chance of getting them cleared before June 30. Kilburn have put in an appeal........I know no more on this.
