IMO , the BL&G used to be the best standard outside A1 up until mid to late 90's , since then he has slipped to arguable the most ordinary leagues in SA .

Hafey, I must admit I was an easily influenced youngster back in those times, and it was a great time with the blue and white hoops era preceding the Nuri Tigers dominance. The South Gawler team of 1990 - 1994 would have gone close to knocking off the top A1 side with Eddie Schwerdt, Jeff Brown and the like.

I do disagree however with you concerning it's current status as an ordinary comp, having played in the comp recently (and experienced another league) it is my view that it is still up around the A2/ A3 standard.

13 goals by Mannum ?? wow hasnt the wheels fallen off this comp , Mallala beating Nuri and Modbury smashing Centrals .

The texas rattlesnake was pumping up Gawler Souths tyres last week predicting a finals finish.

Indeed South Gawler were disappointing, i was able to go and watch the game and the end result wasnt 13 goals as suggested by Edgar, it was around 7-8 goals, never the less still a bad result for the lions.

Some good points out of the game was that Gerardis kicked 6 and Bayliss probably had around 40 touches. Lets see how they go this weekend, i am told they are playing Greenacres....

Greenacres will smash the lions this week... alot of ex Kilburn players have followed last years coach... South could be in some trouble this year indeed!!

I would be very, very surprised if South lost to Greenacres...

I would tend to agree with Edgar and 151, i believe Barossa and Freeling would push A1 sides whilst the rest would not look out of place in Div 2...aside from Angaston and Nuri perhaps...

Ok two teams that are allowed and support 10 imports are going to have decent sides eg Barossa & Freeling .

I can only comment on what i have seen and that's alot of amatuer / country footy over the years , BL&G in 2007 was ordinary at best .

Fair enough Hafey...i guess we'll see a much more even comp this year.

I'll still stick to my prediction of the lions making the four or at least being there abouts...

the first year Barossa went top they had 5 imports
last year they had 6
Freeling over same period had 9 and 8
just to clarify
Texas, souths biggest problem has been lack of height and lack of fitness with their on ballers
have they improved in these areas this year

151 will your beloved Barossa Districts be around the mark again this year now the import rule has been changed ?

The changes could really open the door for clubs like South Gawler , Galwer Centrals and Tanunda to dominate the league again and clubs like Freeling & Barossa to drop by the way side again .

151, once again lack of height will be the lions biggest problem, the inclusion of Bayliss in te midfield seems to strenghten this area along with Bevis, Carapetis (returning from centrals) and then makris or coombs...

number 7 is the gun
i reckon he should be down forward as well with his brother number 10
thats providing you had enough fit ( not fat ) on ballers not to use him there
what about the ruckman that was there last year before he got himself into strife, is he playing this year
