You only need 11 for a cricket team and no real support staff. For a footy team you need 21 and a lot of support staff to keep them on the park. Successful clubs are strong on and off the field, there doesn't seem to be much to work with in either department at Cally at the moment??

You guys don't let up hey. Talk about kicking the crap out of a dead body on the ground. Outright gutless. I don't follow anyone in Country Div but not even Hackham in the SFL or the late Pt Elliott of the GSFL got this sort of bashing. Give it up guys, I'm sure everyone has had a gutful. God help your clubs when the hard times hit, I sure as hell wouldn't want you there.

ATS, don't be such a sook you handbag. DD asked the question, I just gave him a frank and honest answer. I didn't bag the hell out of anybody, there IS bugger-all to work with in the footy department at Callington. What a daunting task they are faced with, I dips me lid to anybody who is still there trying to change things.

Plympton were alright, think Gluyas said that the oldest player in the starting line-up at least for Mt Barker was 22. but some of their guns did come on in the second half. They are just trials. Plympton are playing Hahndorf this Friday night in a trial and Hahndorf will be putting up their best side available so its possible that may be a better indicator for you.

Interesting discussion re Callington cricket and football. I don't think DD and McGov bagged or kicked Callington when they're down. I heard about cricket finals only today and pondered over exactly the same question myself. It's a good question though. Why is this so?
Older, wiser and been there. But still love that grassroots country footy.

Your not the one who has to waste a Saturday afternoon playing against such a poor football team. That is why everyone bags them because they think its everyone else fault not theirs for being so poor

KnB , you snob. give these blokes the respect they deserve as "ordinary " men [ like you and your team-mates ] who are just out on a saty arvo having a game of footy

Isn't that what C grade is for??? It was mentioned on here by a few posters that it would hurt their juniors if they only played C grade this year..........they don't even have junior or senior colts!!

IMHO, C grade would've been the perfect plan for them this year.

Thats a good win by the Roosters. Kersbrook lost to Barossa by about 8 goals. Roger James kicked 8

Makes you wonder if he'd been playing for the Brooks?
I left the Roosters at half time, there wasn't much in it and they seemed to be struggling to get on top of things. They must have turned it around and finished well. I thought Para Hills were quite disciplined and played to their plan - not a very tall team so used the short kick and carried the lines. Some good players at Birdwood, hopefully they can gel and get a good style going down there.

Nairne got beaten very easily by Mypolonga in a trial Saturday, apparently by 20 goals in just 3 quarters  What is the expectation of Nairne this year in Hills Country?

Heard Mannum where up by 10 goals when the game was called off by Gummeracha after a dust up between both teams, can anybody confirm this?

You're pretty much spot on Goldberg, we had quite a few players missing having 3 teams in the cricket GF's, and a lot of colts and "B" graders playing 6 "quarters". Mypo did play fairly well though.
