Heard that the Cragg-Sasford Clearence went to tribunial last Wednesday night and the clearenace wasn't granted, as the rules state, So at this stage no footy in the BLG for him,

Hey Hafey
On a different forum you say Occer was a thug, is there a story to tell, did you and him have a go one day back in your playing days..........

South Gawler played Mannum on Saturday. Very disappointing result for the lions - they went down by 13 goals. I suggest this does not bode well for their season... a lack of height was very telling apparently.

13 goals by Mannum ?? wow hasnt the wheels fallen off this comp , Mallala beating Nuri and Modbury smashing Centrals .

The texas rattlesnake was pumping up Gawler Souths tyres last week predicting a finals finish.

I just think it is a top 3, Tanunda, Barossa and Freeling a gap to Kapunda, then a bigger gap to the rest, Nuriootpa Bottom, I know nothing but its a little funny that Ian Stafford is back living in Tanunda, without a coaching gig for the 2008 season (I think), could he return at one stage

Wasn't myself involved Brad man but i do recall oconnor king hitting one of our players from behind while the ball was down the other end . If the police wasn't there to escort him from the ground he probably would of got some of his own medicine by disgruntled pt district supporters .

We breed em tough down at districts and got on with the football that day but it was one of the weakest displays from a player i had seen but that's what you got when you played Kilburn.
What i dont know about football isnt worth knowing .

Kapunda had a good win over Hummocks Watchman Eagles, whom are always pretty competitive. I reckon Kapunda will be definately push for top 3 from what i have heard.
A former Mallala coach, Ian Stafford was seen at the trial between Mallala and Nurioopta sitting in his customry position on the opposite side of the ground to the coach on a deckie. A good source from Nuri suggested that he has have a role with Nuri this season.

I'd say Stafford is more well known for his coaching period at Nuri - 94 -> 2003 I think... he went to Mallala after leaving Nuri ... and its common knowledge he is back in a role at Nuri.

Its interesting ... in BL&G footy they are willing to refuse clearances pre-season if players are required, while in BL&G cricket they force clubs to clear players -> even partway through seasons.

Indeed South Gawler were disappointing, i was able to go and watch the game and the end result wasnt 13 goals as suggested by Edgar, it was around 7-8 goals, never the less still a bad result for the lions.

Some good points out of the game was that Gerardis kicked 6 and Bayliss probably had around 40 touches. Lets see how they go this weekend, i am told they are playing Greenacres....

It doesn't suprise me 151 that you and ocka are mates and on good terms . Once again i am going to agree to disagree with you on this one . Do you really want to dig up the past , hell who can remember specifics back then anyway but i will let you know i was playing in that game and it was not only Semi Centrals last game but also mine at A grade level .

Pass on my regards to ocka and i hope his thumbs have recovered from all the king hitting he did .

Greenacres will smash the lions this week... alot of ex Kilburn players have followed last years coach... South could be in some trouble this year indeed!!

Who is Greenacres coach in 2008 ?

Be intersting to hear the outcome of this game , surely a top 4 side from the BL&G can match it with a A5 side .

Hafey, you have suggested that the wheels have fallen off of the BLG competition...

I wonder whether other people share the same opinion.

The league still seems to be able to attract quality players and with the new import allocations this season may be a bit more evenly spread...

what are others thoughts on this....

Tex i can asure you if had witnesses the BL&G in the early 90's you would understand what i was talking about . Back then it's top 4 sides were compared to A1 amatuers standard , these days Adelaide Plains sides are winning trial games against sides in this comp and we have suggestions A5 teams will smash teams in the BL&G eg greenacres v south gawler this weekend.

IMO , the BL&G used to be the best standard outside A1 up until mid to late 90's , since then he has slipped to arguable the most ordinary leagues in SA .

then can you explain why Barossa beat Salisbury North last year and 2 weeks ago drew with Saliabury North
You definately underestimate the BLG
My believe it's A2 standard with say a Barossa v Freeling over the last couple of years equal to a A1 standard

151 - I concur with your thoughts... however I dare say the likes of Angaston and Nuriootpa would be akin to an A5 standard, hence why there often drubbings throughout the year. Hopefully, as Tex has eluded to, the re-allocation of import spots has acted to even up the competition in 2008.
