I never had to worry much about that puma. Pritty had to stand your ground when the castle behind you is destroyed.

OL The Alliance challenge is just a preseason comp but worth a nice $1000 to the winning team and I would say that every team would be happy to win that and it is probably more then the premiership in the normal comp is worth.
One topic of conversation and that is Do you or don't you WALK?? Just because gilly does it, everyone seems to think that every player playing the game should and I actually think standing there making the umpire make a decision is my right for paying him to be there. Any thoughts? so the next time some one says to me why didn't you walk? I will say because the umpire didn't give me out!!

Puma, the bowling dept still has Liam, Viv, Keasty, & possibly Yancic to come in, & don't forget Strudy can bowl a bit too! Normal premiership is worth SFA, only the shield to hang up.
Totally agree with you on the walking issue, no point the ump being if you have to make the decision for him, i think generally the ump's decision is respected & everyone moves on.
For Halomans benefit i have his 04/05 (the only year he played) stats, are as follows played 6, aggregate of 38, for an average of 6.33, seems i wasn't that far off!!

What about walking when you haven't got a paid umpire and your teammates have to make the decisions?

So if your mum was umpiring and you were batting bystander, you wouldn't walk if you snicked one, you would wait for her to make the decision?

My mum wouldn't know what the hell was going on anyway, but yeah, i'd make her make the decision, as the umpire should.

Was meant in the context that there is no cash prize for it, obviously it's the be all end all. No point playing only for the pre-season cup is there? Before anyone posts some smart arse comment, yes thats where we have been for a number of years but we are heading in the right direction as shown by last years results.
Shit, i'm starting to sound like Brian Ramsey!!!

On the 6.33 or what ever the hell it was what was yours...... 10 or something. Congrats mate, you beat a baseballer. WHOOO HOOO.

eags wrote:Jaenschy did bowl well on Sat but still has a way to go. Has definitely gained at least a couple yards of pace from last season and is bowling much more consistently. The best thing about him is he's keen to learn.

Puma ... Yeah Ireckon that was Pooley who played in the EP side this year. Saw a bit of the game last week and he was playing. Nice action shot of Wooly in the paper today too!!!

Reckon you SES boys will do good things with that kid. Always thought he was a little bit hard done by at Charlton. Realy nice young fella with talent to burn and a good head on his shoulders. Good luck to him and hope you lads might be able to find him a game or two in the A grade. Look forward to seeing how he goes.

Tips .... we have a bbq and beers planned for the SES vs Souths game next Sat 28th out at Wangary. Would be great if you boys could hang around for a few quiet ones after the game. If you could let your blokes know at training tonight it'd be much appreciated.

Hey Eags

good work!!

The boys were planning a big night out at wangary on the 28th but hoff at a wedding and puma at the races in adelaide won't be playing so hopefully the other boys will hang around for a snag and beer. We got you again at wangary on the 25th Nov so we will have to plan a big night for that night as well. Looking forward to a few longnecks.

Tough for the aussies now they have lost to the west indies in the first round of the ICC. Looks like both England and the Aussies will be struggling in India. Bring on the Ashes! Do you think we should have had a week off for the test match from our local games?? alot of people going to the test and other comps have the weekend off. Was there a vote on it at a meeting at all??

You gotta take the good with the bad, lets say you miss it but ump says you hit it, your out, he's made a decision, move on, that's what he's there for! $20..... you idiot! Mine was 10.23, not bad for a B-Grade bowler captaining the A's i reckon, as opposed to your 6.33, from a batsman!  Should've given Emma a game, she would've got to at least 8 i reckon. While we're here how would you know if Jaenchy was hard done by or not, you weren't there when we tried to help him and it all fell on deaf ears. even his old man will tell you that, he was there too! Biggest problem i think was, (and we all do it at that age), he thought he knew everything, as i said b4, i hope he does do well. Might be best to still to something you do know about Haloman.

What I do know is Bystander you as A grade captain were asking the likes of myself, Roy Todd, Robbie Maddern etc.. to play in your A grade that year whilst young Jeanchey was running around in the B's. No wonder he left. As for trying to help the kid!!! WTF...... I reckon if you asked him, his old man, his mum or anyone else who knows him they'd tell you SES might just have you covered in that department. Think of the group he was training and playing with then at Charlton. Don't forget too bystander that me playing cricket for Charlton that year was done as a personal favour to you and Ash and only because you were struggling for numbers then. So perhaps not too smart a move broadcasting someones stats who rearly trained and really didn't care. Will be interesting to see what happens the next time Charlton are desperately short of players. You might have to give Emma a game because she might be the only one willing to.

Because most people that are keen to go to the ashes test in adelaide would have bought them very early on knowing they would sell out. You'd think our competition would get with the times and have the weekend off for the Adelaide test. We could have scheduled another sunday game throughout the season, oh that's right there probably isn't any sundays left since we are playing so much cricket. Regardless if you have a ticket or not , it will be shown live on TV.
I just hope teams can fill sides or we might just all forfeit and have a day off to watch the test. I won't miss a day's action after the last ashes series left us wanting more with the close results.

Any news on the 20/20 comp?? Have to start practising for a bowl off like the aussies girls did yesterday in case of a tie. Funny how out of 10 international bowlers bowling at the stumps with no batters in the way, that only 3 hit them!!

SA redbacks took first innings points today taking 6 for 27 this morning and are currently 3 for 52 with cossie and ferguson in. Might not be enough time for outrights points but we are on the board with first innings points. good start to the year.
