My ladder for 2011

Kersbrook
Echunga
Gumeracha
Birdwood
Nairne
Meadows
Macclesfield
Kangarilla
Sedan/Cambrai
Callington

Kersbrook will be the side to beat a few guys returning and have the best coach by far. If Echunga have stayed about the same they will be pushing them their pace and run will trouble most sides.
Birdwood a bit of an unknown depending on their recruits, if they start off well and get some confidence up they will push for a top two possy. If they stay the same as last year they'll be middle of the road. Gumeracha have picked up a couple of Blokes from Brahma Lodge but have lost a couple, will get some some improvement out of their locals. Nairne to improve, Maccy to go backwards, if Meadows have recruited as posted they should be a better side but were a bit off the pace last year and will need more than two players. Sedan to improve and be more competitive, Cally a lost cause

Overall summary of expected season - top two tough to beat but beatable, bottom two highly unlikely to beat anyone above them. All those in the middle not that far apart and should start the year feeling positive.

Its gonna be a good year of footy

Good post mate. I think meadows will improve a long way from what they were last year, but still not be compeditave with the top few. Dave thomas is the big thing for them, a good coach and has a great ability to get the best out of his players and also to get them there!

It will be interesting to see how the top 4 turns out imo. Ker's and echunga will have newly heated rivalry now being the new top two sides, there games should be crackers! Birdwood coming in will be very interesting that it will give some kind of an idea of how the two leagues square up (the same with TV going up). Agreed a good year of footy to come!

On saafl div 4 forum it says Adam Switala on his way to Gumeracha, not a bad pick up if true. They said he will be getting $1000 a game!!

Too good to be true :?

Switala to Gumeracha for $1000 a game and Richie to work with Central's Juniors.

Would've been nice 2 have them, but u certainly cant blame a bloke that can still command a good income from playing while he is still relatively young. $18,000 a year to play + sign on fee and finals. Sweeet gig

This question has been asked every pre-season for several years. They always seem to survive because the HFL is a toothless tiger in that it refuses to MAKE them play C Grade. They have the power to do it. So why don't they? The longer the League allows this nonsense to continue, the sillier they look. What a totally unprofessional mess.

where do gum get the money i thought they were nearly broke a couple of years ago. Switala has been linked to more clubs than marc cox i dont expect cox to be at Kesy this year try north clare at this stage.

We finished our recruiting a while back and as far as I know Adam Switala wasnt part of those plans, and certainly not at that price. I dont know of many clubs in the HFL that can offer to throw out that kind of coin to 1 bloke, definetely not in Country Div anyway.

Cox signed sealed and delivered in the NEFL, already training.
Switala looking for a deal that includes his brother however requires groin surgery before doing anything, not out of the question that he may infact end up in the SAAFL with his bro at Elizabeth

kicknback, these are facts mate yes gumeraca made a offer to switala there was a 'yes i'm in' given then the offer fell through so therfore will not be at gumeraca in season 2011 and the offer was'nt as much as 1000 mate it was a good offer but not that good.

IMO i believe after getting his body right he'll play at elizabeth but as i said that is just my opinion......

Heard a rumour tonight that all the James brothers are playing for Barossa District, or at very least doing preseason there. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Yeah Brett James is coaching Kersbrook this season but playing for Barossa Districts with his Brother. He's going to play 'B' grade for Barossa then leave at 3/4 time to coach Kersbrook's As. 8-} Seriously Informer what drugs do they serve you at those Church Sessions? 8-} @-)

if he's all signed and delivered then fine, but a player from barossa said that all three were at a pre season training. Just supporting the brother i'm sure...

If Callington are intent on keeping the club going, why don't they at least make an attempt to round up some of the administrators from the early days as this was when the club had heart? They need to ask these people why they left, then ask them how the club was so successful so early on, what was the secret etc. Finishing 4th in their 4th ever year was an incredible achievment and I can't think off-hand of any other HFL clubs which have done that. As a player from those days I would cheerfully don my boots on my 40+ year old feet if those days were back and no I'm not Mully lol!

i'm not sure if anyone from sidan use's the forum but does anyone know what we can expect from them this year? I would imagin an improvement from last year, as they suggested they missed alot of players due to the late exception into our league and many had already found alternatives. Possible influx of players comeing back?

Of corse i have no doubt that they will finnish second to last (again no dis-respect), but i am talking about improvment for the long term and also for the club health in the present, as in steps to becoming a compeditave club. Or can we expect them to fall in the same hole as cally has over the past few years?
