What a great day of footy starting off with the 14's. BTB you are on the money with those LS lads - incredibly good to watch aren't they.
You get to see some good games of footy over time and occasionally some good GF's. Well that was certainly one. Congrats to the Wayback fellas who gutsed it out right to the end against that strong breeze and provided an exciting contest.
And to Goody for his after match talk in the MR changerooms - that was as good as Ive ever heard in that situation. Well done and says somthing about you and your family. Also well done to Mick Bilney - impressed and should be more of it.
And Grub - why didn't I ask for a bet - picked the quintrella

What did everyone think of the grand final...... Hows that umpiring decision in the last 10 mins....when Doudle took a mark .... spotted someone for the switch ....ran at 90 degrees and went to kick it before being tackled by Dom..... and Nugget gave Doudle 50m.....
Had to laugh when Mick Bilney was getting into Nugget over that decision.
JCS got plenty of the ball but his kicking let him down all day..... why did he keep kicking it so high into the breeze?

Nugget hadn't called play-on so good call i reckon, what a shambles it would be if every decision was made based on what the players thought!!!!!

Totally agree, probably should've been called to play-on, but fact still remains he wasn't, therefore 50M penalty.

Doudle was also caught holding the ball in another incident in the last quarter where he dropped the ball on the 50m line. This tackle was also not rewarded.

Hope there isnt some indescretion about the umpiring decisions about doudle and the play on decision Bish, where i was standing next to the wayback camp at the end of the first quater when the goal from Tokarski went a meter over the line and was called touched, there were some very ordinary calls all day, field and goal umpires = DISCRACE.

Back on fellas, just got broadband at home!!

Umpiring went both ways, Jarrod should have been called to play on and subsequently pinged for holding the ball. Would like to see the overall free kick count though, seemed like every time a pack formed Waybacks got a free for too high, normally from Todd G.

Have heard Bluesy is enjoying a fresh batch of cup cakes this week, with the cream on top. Hayden Parker dominated, and I loved every minute of it. No better side to beat in a GF.......

Yes Panther the cup cakes went down well and the boy had one in the spirit of it all.
In regards to the Doudle incident I think umpire Bilney did what he had to do after realising he perhaps should have called play on. He then proceeded to award a 25m penalty not a 50 m which was a sort of middle of the road decision in the end.
What about the bloke in the B's who was yellow carded. I took particular note of the time he got sent off for his 10 mins. in the sin bin and this was precisely 5 min to go in the quarter (according to the time clock). He was on the ground again within 2 min of the next quarter starting. I reckon the umps want to get real Rolexes and not those $20 imitation jobs. Could have been critical to the outcome. If Jones was a general when he played A's, he is the supreme commander in the magoos. I reckon thats 4 games straight he has been BOG.

yeah spot on Steiger about the B Grade yellow card, I think you will also find that when he went on in the next quarter, he kicked a goal. Bloody disgrace.
I agree Lincoln magpie about Tokkas goal, i was told it was clearly over the line. I just mentioned Doudle cos the play-on incident was raised. There was a few contentious decisions. I think the quality of Goal Umpiring is really not up to standard at times. I realise those blokes do about 3 games in a row, but jeez......

Id agree about the lack lusture approach leagues have to goal umpiring, I was at a GF a few years ago and a clear goal was called a point in the very last minute of the match costing the team the match.
I did a year at the SANFL umpiring academy as a goal umpire and learning basic positioning would benefit all country goal umpiries, its not that hard if you know what to do and where to be.
