Not sure what to do this Saturday arvo!! My beloved Panthers now start at 2.30, which is better than the original 12.15 start that would have been when I was playing. Hopefully our A's have a handy lead at half time so I can head home to watch the last half of the South v Glenelg game, I'm sure the crowd of AFL drones won't let me have the Centenary box on the ABC. Got abused enough last week when they clashed, old Katie Doudle got fair dinkum shitty with me when I left it on ABC for too long in the ad breaks!! Told him if he wanted to watch uncontested circle work he should have been at the High School an hour ago when we trained......

WCP would have thought with what you have riding on the outcome, you would have flown to Adelaide to see if you could directly influence the game.
And your A Grade already have a handy lead. Spies tell me Thomas might finally get to Adelaide for a weekend binge.

How many will go to Centenary this week? with South Adel. v The Bays on TV they should put PL back to Sunday.
Eyre United could fall away over the next few years with the Evans boys retiring and the Lincoln crew all heading to Rangers. Thoughts tips?

Your prob right frub. If the EU senior managment dont do some serious recruiting of some young guns to replace some fellas then we very well could fall away. Ben Schramm and Aaron Castley are already two big losses for next year. We will be able to recruit to plug those holes but prob wont get any stronger. Lets just hope their thinking along the same lines otherwise it could spell disaster for the club.

Im letting the other comment fly to the keeper!!

Can see a looming battle on the hill between Wade H and WCP. Both armed with a radio but Wade will be the one turning the TV back to the crows. Lucky it's not Sunday so I can watch every second of the pies demolishing the bullies.
Speaking of demolish, who was the local media identity who will be asked for a please explain over Friday nights MM dinner.

Marble Range v Waybacks – First Semi Final.
Centenary Oval - 9 Sept 2.30pm

Possible line-ups

Marble Range
FF – Rynne, Watho, Brodie
HF – Dufek, Sarge, M Parker
C -- T Owen, Tokarski, Keely
HB - H Parker, Doudle, Scott
FB – L Smith, Brooks, Puckridge
Ruck – T Dennis, Thompson, Hull
Int. – Charman, Secker, Harder

Waybacks
FF – Keast, Grove, Cunningham
HF – J Whitt, Dom, B Whitt
C – George, M Goody, P Goody
HB – Moore, Gregory, Harders
FB – Noddy, Boris, T Craig
Ruck – Trito, Cragg-Sapsford, Horgan
Int – Blight, M Bilney, Bascombe

Expect a dour struggle, on paper there is nothing between the two sides lets get that straight. Think back after 5 games we had Waybacks as premiership favourites and they should have a similar team this week.
Marble Range have strengthened as the year has gone on and have formed a solid consistant team, their much publicised depth is unrivalled in the competition, while on the other hand the Dees have limped to the line with some average performances and done enough to hold on to the all important double chance. That means little now.
Coach Hawes will come to this match knowing he has nothing to lose and I wouldn’t be surprised if he rolled the dice. Romeo is the key up forward, can he get a miss match and turn the game? We have seen it before. The other forwards will need to be at their best for Waybacks to kick over 10 goals, they are capable. If Tom George fronts his finishing off skills will be required forward of centre and someone like Cragg-Sapsford who can take a grab may have to push forward at some stage.
The million dollar question is how underdone are the Demons players who are returning from injury, what roles will they play? The Goodwin boys, George, Horgan in the midfield and Cragg-Sappsford playing a kick behind the game is as good as it gets in Port Lincoln Football. This is where the game will be won or lost, can they run out a game and beat or break even with a Ranger midfield that has so many rotations.
What a luxury it is to have Moore and Gregory sitting across half back reading the play, they need to win their positions, the rest of the defence will do well if it can break even. Matchups on Parker and Murphy will be pivitol and very interesting, Cunningham and Noddy Tyler could be called upon.
Marble Range will go long at every opportunity, Watherston wont get outmarked in the square and while not in the best of touch will bring the ball to ground. Sargent at CHF will have to work tirelessly to put up a good contest on Gregory. Rynne, Murphy and Matt Parker have to be controlled inside 50, giving them 5 meters can be football suicide.
The on-ball brigade of Rangers is not overly endowed with pace, this could be a big worry in coming weeks, however Thompson, Hull, Tokarski, Rynne, Parker are all fine, experienced players and have the ability to bring others into the game with clever disposal. Scott (who may get M Goodwin), Dufek, Smith and Owen will be relied upon to provide run and break the lines.
Jarrod Doudle leads a mean defence that doesn’t give a lot away, Brooks is rarely beaten and there will be run from defence with those other names there. Who Waybacks play at CHF will be interesting, could Brad Whittaker start there and try to take Doudle up the ground or wide out of the play? Leaving Dom one out with a HBFlanker? There are many scenarios that will be fascinating in another great day of Port Lincoln football.
Tyler Dennis has been servicable all year in ruck and with support from Charman they can break even with the Demon big men. The supply to the Dees on-ballers is another major factor, can Kouwenhoven and Blight get the ball down to Goodwin and Horgan and set the tempo early?

THE VERDICT: Waybacks have slipped under the radar as they did last year but you have to tip Marble Range, although I am expecting a tight contest. The unknown factor on how Waybacks Fab 5 will go running out a full game and with not as many quality rotations through the midfield leans me to a Ranger victory. They may have one or two more options up forward and should get on top of Waybacks late in the game. Marble Range by 23 points in a low scoring game.

ODDS: MR $1.25 v W $3
MR 1-39pts $1.90…… MR 40+pts $2.10
W 1-39pts $3.30……. W 40+pts $8

Whats everyone elses thoughts? Where will the game be won or lost?

B Grade – Marble Range v Tasmans

Marble Range come into this in good form having lost only one of their last 11 games, pivitol to the clash is will Scoob Sargeant play? Rayted a 60/40 proposition at present, he is relied upon heavily in the goal square for his 6 marks a game. The onball brigade of Collins, Ambrose, Baillie can give the forwards in Evans, Boyce, Gardner and Scoob plenty of chances. Their defence could come under fire with Lanky and Cowboy the mainstays across halfback and Stutz on the last line will all need to be on their game.
The rangers have young runners in the midfield that should tip this game in their favour. Hargans, Pobke, C.Owen and Mitchell are quick and will be hard to stop. The forward line of T Smith, Taylor and King only needs a few chances to put scoreboard pressure on.
All in all should be a terrific game also with same good past and new talent on show, look for Marble Range to win by 15 points.

Good effort there Grub, MR sides are a little different to yours but basically right. I'd expect Damon Scott to get the job on Dom and I'm confident he can nullify his influence. I have always said finals are won from the midfield and while we have strength there, I think our backline will choke the life out of the Dees and as Rossco has also eluded to before, kicking goals could be a problem. I hope......
