Does anyone have income protection insurance?

You have to get your own income protection. Clubs can get different levels of cover through the SANFL but i think they only cover you for permanent disability. The cost would be huge for your club if everyone claimed for injuries

where are you boys getting your entertainment for your gentlemans day, and what were your costs, the bays are going to do the same but entertainment is a lot more than expected. How much did you charge your players per head?

We're getting it through Cheeky Entertainment and its gonna cost us $630 for three shows. I'll let you know next week what the quality's like. We're making tickets $15 prepaid or $20 at the door. Drinks at bar prices on top of that. If we get 40 or so there we should do alright out of it. The more the merrier though so if anyone's keen to come along it's this Sunday at the Saracens Head in the city kicking off at 11am. Jackpot Jim will be front and square!

You could never expect your club to be able to cover everyones injurys, I was just think about major injuries that require surgery and on going treatment thats all. I would not try get anything out of my club as a play at my own risk and I am lucky to have personel insurance so mine was all covered, I was even told I could go for a pay out! 8)

I'm not sure if it's already been posted on here but the Qualifying Final and 1st Semi Final venues have been switched. Qualifying will be at Encounter Bay and 1st Semi at Myponga.

Does that mean Willungas A grade have to play at 2 grounds they really dislike, Pongy & possibly the GF at Compass? Whats the odds on the creek & strath to win the flag?

They're the only ones at this stage however all finals grounds are going to be assessed by the League the Sunday prior to the match to check the suitability of the ground.

If Mt Compass don't like playing at Mt Compass then their odds may blow out from $1.01 to $1.03

Wasnt sure what final & where you were playing. I just figured the bigger the oval the more one on one contests, which you guys are second to none at. Sides can flood & bottle it up at compass. Just fishing again mate

The 15 degree incline from one wing to the other at Mt Compass may advantage the Demons.

Tanking?

More likely the loss is all part of the master plan for another Flag. (Lets Hope so anyway - wouldn't want those Cocks from Strath Crowing about Premierships)
Probably didn't want to follow the same path as the Creeks did last year when their 'A' s and 'B' s both lost the GF after being undefeated.
'A' Grade
Strath 6 - 9 (45)
Willunga 5 -13 (43)

'B' Grade
Strath 6 - 19 (55)
Willunga 2 - 3 (15)

a disappointing day for mclaren reserves on saturday, yankalilla forfeited with only having 12 players and no senior colts (who apparently were full of junior colts anyway) wanting to play. Wondering how many times a team has forfeited the reserves and then won the a grade, it does raise the points that were discussed about forfeiting a few weeks back. There being no game for 2 hours was a joke and killed any sort of atmosphere, Yank wouldn't even play a scratch match, as we had offered them players (also had our u/17s willing to play) to play 16 on 16 or what ever we could just to have game but they were not interested, got the feeling they had already decided to forfeit before saturday. Its hard to bag the 12 blokes who did rock up for yank because at least they were there, but as a club surely you must be made to fill two sides even if that means players play both a grade and b grade, as myponga did a few weeks back against us in the worst conditions possible, or be severly dealt with by the league but the question is what can the league do, a large fine doesn't really do anything other than putting pressure on them financially, take points away? they haven't won a game anyway, is an 80 point win big enough i would say not, i think 20 goals is about the mark.
who ever thought of the saying winning isn't everything, probably lost!!

Heard Koster has played his last game of senior footy on the weekend. Finished his footy at Yank where it started. Great career obviously and gave back to grassroots footy at CLG, shocs and at Yank playing with a ruptured ACL for the last few years. Well done Kossie!

have to agree with you herwiththebeer
Forfeits are just the pits for all concerned

On the plus side
No Injuries
Ovals don't get cut up
No gear to wash
Goal umpires, team managers etc get some time off

On the other side
1.No Mail medal votes....what if either a Yank or a Mclaren Player comes second in the reserves medal and could have won it with some votes from Sat. The same with club B&F awards ( I know it is a team sport, however individual awards are part of our great game)
2.Goal kicking same as above.
3.Supporters who pay their $5.00 to watch get ripped off...especially if they have come to watch their son, friend or favorite player play in the reserves.
4.An hour and a half with nothing to do.
5.As this was the last game for the year, there may have been players donning the boots for their last game ever and that is taken away
6. Drive all the way from Yank just to turn around and go back.
Can go on for ages

NOT GOOD :(

Lost by 2 points! Conditions were terrible and in the end couldnt get the ball through the big sticks. Had plenty of opportunities to win in the last quarter but heavy ball, good defense by Strath and full credit to them! I think we kicked 1 goal plenty in the last, 8 or 9 points i reckon. Strath were good, i cant say we were bad, we had a go and were beaten.

Finals this week. Season begins again and who can take out the premiership in their respective grades??

This weeks games will be great. I think Strath to just get over the Creeks on the big Bay Oval and Enc Bay to beat Compass at Willunga on Sunday.

Mail Medallist to be out of Maxfield, Eagleton and Love. Will be a good count Wednesday night!
