Tips for round 4, for what they are worth

Postby dangermouse » Thu May 10, 2007 9:24 am

Blackwood will inflict Birdwood's biggest loss thus far this season (Carberry may top last week's effort!)
Mt Lofty will bounce back over the Crouts- The weather will hopefully be better than last night game at Goat Park. Anyone know if Lofty have any notable 'ins' this week?
Uraidla comfortably over Barker (10-15 goals)
Ironbank in an upset over Onkas (which I don't think will be too much of an upset considering Shee, Contin and I think Steve Tanner are out, will still be a great win though if IB get up).
Lobethal just against a bridgewater that will fight hard. It'll be interesting to how a) Kluzek goes if he plays and b) how the shanty boys will respond to having him up forward (if he plays)

Hmmm...I actually agree with most of that, DM. But you reckon Blackwood will win by more than 20 goals? I think that's what Onlas beat the Roosters by.
I think Uris and Barker will be closer than that, maybe 7 or 8.
Onkas - jeez, if those blokes were missing 3 weeks ago, Lofty would have 2 wins! They're BIG outs. How long they absent for? Is that why Barker got within 2 goals on the w/end?

Yeah I reckon Blackwood are the real deal this year JQ (regular season I mean, I'm not tipping them in the finals). They smoked a much improved IB in round one and their new team has had two more games to gel together since then. They spanked bridgey by 25+ goals last week and bridgey are a better side than birdwood. Hopefully i'm wrong.

will ben gordon and ross wait be back for the devs this week. heard their absence wrecked them last week having to put little blokes like scott wood in key positions instead of playing where he should as a small forward or on baller. if thats true then uraidla cant really take much out of their win on the w/e taking on a half assed devs lineup?

Shee definately out. Tanner will be out for about 6 weeks with an ankle. Did it in a mud hole at heathfield. Unlucky as he is a gun of a bloke and a gun of a player.

I can't remember what Sheebs has done though. It has slipped my mind. but I know he is no good.

I agree with GTS - Hunsie is a top bloke and who doesn't enjoy a drink in the Hills , sometimes we all get a little bit carried away on the juice. I think Hunsie has been living out at Meadows for a while. Uraidla just wouldn't clear him - so its not as if he has moved there because of that bullshit written earlier.

Big losses there.
So Tanner should be back near round 10...leaves them exposed to a couple of the stronger teams but would can ease back in with a Birdwood game then back to face lofty (dammit)...

Re: Tanner.
Those pot holes in the hills are nasty..... Especially that ditch along the side of the ground at Hahndorf. Unfortunately all the Hills ovals aren't like footy park. But adds to the character of the competition. Lofty and Hahndorf would probably be two of the better ovals atm......What are people's favourite ovals...other than your own of course!

Out on a limb - Balhannah.
Lobey - too big, but surface used to be good.
Never played there, but I heard that Milang was a CRACKER.

It really was. You could have heavy rain for an entire week and colts and b grade games, but come 2.20 the oval would still be in magnificent condition.
Isn't Ben Gordon playing for the Chicago Bulls these days?

During my time there, Lobey was the one i liked to play on.

Many would hate Barkers, but obviously as a Roo, I loved playing there.

When i first rocked up the Bridgy in 2005, i thought it was the school oval.

From moi's point of view (in order):
Uraidla-Gem of an oval on a sunny day, top surface.
Lofty- Lot better than the old days, holds up under the weather ok, a few potholes. Just watch out for the balcony.
Onkas-Good surface, good space, sometimes gets a bit rough towards season end. Been a finals oval for years.
Hahndorf-Not bad barring the trough along the outside.
Lobey-Gone downhill lately but the space is great, sorts out the non-running sides of the comp.
Blackwood-Looks great but has sneaky patches of sinking, foul smelling mud, think Lofty's Wood drowned there last yr.
Ironbank-Surface is ok but you can kick a goal from the opposite goal square, and distractions occur from the netball courts.
Birdwood-Stuart O'Grady rides there during the footy off-season.
Barker- Bring your spade and pail because it is a sandpit, finals last year were a trek through the sahara.
Bridgey-Mud pies in the bath. After rescusitation post-Blackwood Woody sunk and drowned here as well.
