Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

Postby westcoastpanther » Mon Aug 28, 2006 10:00 am

I couldn't get to the footy this week so haven't heard anything, maybe Eski can fill us in. Tasmans won the ressies so Mallee's play Waybacks this week in the first knockout final. Bostons must have played well to kick 14 or did Mallee's rest a heap?

The boys played very well and it proved the fact that with a full lineup we can be competative. Joel Harvey was brilliant at half forward and Adie Searle gave a target and competed manfully in a potent forward setup, Marcus Picket also had some moments. The midfield has to be bolstered next year and the defence lead by Rusty Daniells, Jarred Kotz and Browny battled well.
Mallee Park had several players out. Wes Bilney was best.
Great way to finish of the season and a good night was had by all at the club with a band and plenty of people staying on. The talk was posative about next year with talk already of possible recruits.

Its always hard at this time of the year when it comes to A & B (and Under 17's at that) selections. Need to win games, qualify players plus try and keep a team harmony....severely tests some relationships. Suppose B Grade coaches are a bit like the meat in the sandwich...they want to win matches but also have to be aware that if the A's are finals bound then they need to fall in line.
db...is the problem at Tasmans between the coaches or as a result of the B Grade culture that exists there.

We had a similar problem revolving around Mickey B in the 2's on Saturday. Was not supposed to play but ended up playing nearly 3 qtrs. DH even resorted to ringing Corey on the moblie during the game to get his message across...very amusing at the time.

Great to see the Tigers post a good result to finish the year...exactly what they would have hoped for. Can go to the break with some renewed zest for next year. With rambo on board earlier this year recruiting will be an easier process...Great to see Joel Harvey playing good footy in a side that appreciates him.

Big game up there this week Bomber, where is the game played and an early prediction? Will the secret weapon Boof Marshall take his place in the league side?

blues the story is that 4 players werent allowed to play league that were going to be selected. Hanks simply said "no, you cant have him him or him" Sarge will be able to fill you in as he is closer involved then myself.
No differences between the identities just a difference in opinion. Colin Whillas wasnt happy anyway
AG the Mallee scoop will be reavealed on the saturday morning sports show. did souths make the finals in reserves grade?

Did anyone see the incident involving Jason O'Brien, with his record at the tribunal and the result being a broken jaw, surely it will be a couple of weeks suspension..... which means end of season? DID U SEE IT ESKI? he missed out on playing in our flag when he put macca into the next week in the 2nd semi. Hopefully he only gets 1 week this time.
Interesting one the Bgrade qaulifications, the As would want as much momentum as possible yet players may miss out the next week when the so called 'super stars' come back.

I 'heard' some interesting things from Saturday at the Gary. Jason Williams in the two's headhunting all day, blatant punches were thrown. Bluey had a few words in the sheds Saturday thanking MR for the game etc then after a couple of cans carried on like a wanker at the caravan. Reckoned our farming supporters all do it easy then when a drought comes on they all claim drought relief and bludge. This was said to Freeman Puckridge and a few other very respectable people within our community, I know Brad Hogan reads this site and I also know he would not be impressed with this sort of outburst directed at people he would respect. If he wants to be the media man and coach a senior side he needs to have some level of decorum, the whole caravan was apparently in disbelief at his level of stupidity. He drags the LSFC down with him when he carries on!!

The game's played at Lock .... should be a close 1?? Tuna back in this week, David Butler back from the west, Dylan Higgins and Jacob Cave back from injury + Sammy Reid, Hunty & Ferret a game better off. None of these blokes played against Ramblers last time, when Ramblers were missing Ruley and effectively Roger who shouldn't have played. I'm on a hiding to nothing tipping somebody ... will leave it to the experts!!

Agree with AG there WCP saw the whole game and seemed to be a good spirited game. did see a couple thrown and they werent all from souths players. Would hope that MR ressies appreciate the efforts of the 'older' players to put their hands up get a game to happen would have been easy to say we didnt have the numbers and as AG said you would have 3 weeks between games, and nobody wants that.

Grub - IF J O'B broke someone's jaw in an ILLEGAL manner, why would you hope for only 1 week? That guy can be an absolute peanut, and records normally speak for themselves. Did ANYONE on here see it?
Why can't the Mallees scoop come out now, dickie?

I'm only bringing up what I heard looking for some comment from Souths supporters. Sounds like a storm in a teacup and I'm sure the boys appreciated the effort of getting a side together when it would have been a lot easier to go fishing etc for the Eagles ressies!!

Grub - got me there.
OL - didn't see it. If it was a genuine elbow, same as the broken jaw, the guy's gotta go.

I've 'heard' that in the incident J'OB actually received the free kick from the central umpire. A few minutes later J'OB was yellow carded and sent off as apparently during said incident (in which he received the free) he had been reported by a 10 year old boundary umpire. Maybe Bystander can shed some accurate light or a MR poster who was there, Steiger???
