yeah ill pay that Rooster!
If ya dont mind, C.Harvey another best on for the bombers, your on the money there too!
Just quietly there are some cracking games to look forward to this week:

United vs Hummocks/Watchman at United
What a huge game, match of the season this will be: If eagles can shut down broady they will win. Interestingly Broady never puts himself in the best players, so he seems to slip under the radar of most teams like he did balak on saturday, therefore if teams dont do their homework, and dont put someone on him he ll kill you. Apparently he was clearly best on ground on saturday vs the peckers, yet no mention in the best!! Otherside of the ledger, if muckhole is kept quiet itll make a big difference.

Balaklava vs Mallala at Balaklava
Expect the peckers to bounce back, they always produce a big performance against the magpies. Rest assured this one will be a nail biter, however the pies should get over the line just for the gentle giant.

Two Wells vs Virginia at Two Wells
Well Rooster, this game will be interesting too i reckon. Virginia will push the red and whites and may even grab two on the trot here!!!! Bring your game Roosters!!

Hamley Bridge has the Bye (Lets hope they come good for the sake of the comp)

What a busy day!!!!!!!

They have also signed ex-bombers & Power player wanganeen, whether he actually suits up for a game time will tell. I think it may bout 2-3 weeks away.

I was under the impression by one of this seasons recurits that the owner of the dublin pub is the money backer of the footy club.
this particular recruit was taking himself a sign on of between $3k-$5k with a $350-$400 a game match fee - he also mentioned that the club wasn't looking to take things to seriously this year and that they were very much just rebuilding..... Thats a lot of coin to rebuild with!!

Is there a salary cap in the APFL?

so how many import's does that make?as posted before the import rule is a farce! and there is no doubt in my mind that the club in question will tell untruth's to secure these players. i personally have been accused by this club, then appear at the tribunal and not one representative from this club attended so we could question their allegations. the apfl in the great wisdom did not give me the right to question my accusers, but still with the help of the central umpires statement which proved the allegation where all false they found me guilty of refusing to wave the flag's and i received 10 week suspension  !. honest i dont think so!the person's whom made the allegation should have been charge according to the constitution for making false statements?they were not :? . honest i dont think so!so who is policing the import rules?    these people? what a joke.

I dont think the Dublin Pub is the Money Backer, They are a sponsor. As do most clubs they would work extremely hard at rasing money, the did rais $15k just from a player auction at the start of the year, and that i serouis money for any club.

Yes there is a salary cap $25K I think including coach Fee.

The only problem with that is you've got to have people to be able to afford to spend $15k at an auction, let's face facts this is country footy and there is an expected amount of imports, but then you have some clubs who have more than others to spend.

I understand that Longies already have to deal with import rotations to fit them all in, John Warrior has been playing in the two's, you would have to think that he would be better than that!!

Longies have to understand that if they are going to do this sort of thing (spending big bucks and recruiting big names), they wil have to take it on the chin if success doesn't come or things don't go well long term, cause thats what they're headed for.

I couldnt agree more mate!! Its a small club with good juniors coming through who should be given the opportunity to play senior football, I for one for recruiting from within the club, but also well aware that sometimes you need to pick up Good Import players to fill positions that you cant fill.

I agree Rooster, you think they would have learnt from the mid to late 90's when all they we doing is loosing grand finals and paying the big bucks!!!!! Wheres the development coming from?? Is that important to these clubs. They currently have some great young talent in thier senior colts its a shame to see them not getting more chances in the A's for the sake of their improvement. With such a strong A' grade side, i would be filtering these young blokes through slowly just to give them a taste of it, otherwise at the end of this year, there will be 12-14 18yr old kids too old for colts and wondering whether they should hang around and maybe play the odd A grade game next season or go elsewhere. I reckon you'll probably find that they will have the same situation as they do at present, there are a few blokes who could be playing A-Grade and are not because of import restrictions.

As long as they qualify for the finals they will probably be allowed to play, Makes a mockery of the whole comp doesn't it.

if you look at some other teams, not all clubs have money and a lot can't get players because of history.

Hamley- Do not have a lot of money and it's evident, however they will be alright in a few years with some good young-uns coming through.

You Guys at Virginia don't have bucket loads and find it hard to lure players to the club because of recent performances.

Two Wells don't have money and again find it hard to recruit because they not had a lot of success and who wants to go to a losing club.

Hummocks don't have quids, but have contacts but get players interested in playing for them, through the success they've had.

Mallala, if you look at they're side thay have done very well from some guys on the West Coast, they seem to have good ties or some back ground there which is very handy.

Balak don't have a lot of money and also struggle to lure new players to their side.

Leaving Longies, Have to be the wealthiest club, and appear to have spent the most on players this year, some how always seem to attract players, but ther, if you offer big $$$ people will go there.

Lets just go with the facts here.

These are the number of imports each club can have this year (2007)
- based on population and results over last 5? years
HWE - 4
Balaklava - 3
Two Wells - 5
United - 6
Mallala - 6
Virginia - 6
Hamley Bridge - 7

on the 7th July this is how many imports played
HWE - 1
Balaklava - 2
Two Wells - 2
United - 5
Mallala - 6 (last game june 30)
Virginia - 5
Hamley Bridge - 4

obviously the import rule only applies to A-Grade.
- why should it matter to the B-grade???
(it wouldnt/couldnt have stopped the years where teams like two wells / virginia dropped A-grade players back to B-grade to qualify - surely this is more of a crime???)

good to see that quality players can be atracted out to the league.
(surely this is a credit to the league, not just individual clubs)

no one in their right mind would think that if wanganeen (someone who has played 300 AFL games!!) played it would be because of the money. he would earn more on a speaking tour or signing autographs!!.
