This is becoming farcical. A new A3 comp when this board can't even run 2 decent divs as it stands. Just drop Cally and Sedan to C grade and let it settle for a year. loby down , TV up and have an 8 team country and 10 team central. New teams from Mt Ronnie etc id an Owen pipe dream. Get the rel / promo correct first and then look. Add sedan and united to C grade and make them rebuild and get back based on results. Clubs are getting sick of this crap and will start to look elsewhere at other comps if this mob on the board can't get thier act together.

Reckon the club and league need to do better than a name change.
Identify how the club can put a program in place to start from scratch and rebuild from there,
changing the name reeks of a token effort.

Its not so much a name change as a reversion. They were known as United Eagles when they first entered the competition and had that name for some years.

A club has more of an appeal to locals with a town name though don't you think,
Gives a small place 'ownership' of their football side, United just doesn't mean much.
How are you going out there King of Smoo?, Finals this week?
I am who you think I am, its not like I try and keep it a secret anyway,
The leg is probably gonna keep me out for the rest of 2010, which will suck if we make the GF again,
Broken Fibula early in the year and now torn Medial ligament, is a cruel game this footy.

Yes the first time maccy has made the finals in a long time was a good effort to get there in a three horse race with meadows & nairne. As for myself i wont be fronting up on Sunday unfortunately due to a thigh strain same one that has given me trouble for the last 3-4 years

Advertiser basially says that the League is no longer going to accomodate for Callington. The league, HFL President by nme of course, has said that they are looking into an A3 league with several bigger clubs, Blackwood named, are interested also. So my guess is te League wants Callington A grade put into A3 league and Callinton B garde to play C grade. That's what I got from the article, and also Callington are wanting a new President and will be spendingmoney on players next year!

Short and simple, not the whole article obviously.

So have I got this right?
Backwood third's will play against paid players for Callington and a phantom Barker team that has not been formed as yet?

Blackwood's C grade would kill Callington. In fact, they would put up a decent contest against most of the teams currently in Country div. This isn't the answer.

Foundation continues to build down at Milang, newly formed comittee and if there is an A3 competition next year I have personaly told sir owen lamshed milang must be there, it will provide a great vehicle to rebuld the club easing a modest premiership twenty eleven before moving up in twenty12 with all the other drop kicks.
Letter box drop has had mixed success with 13 replies of interest for next season already. Recruiting has began and I am delighted with the calibre of coach who will

Bring a few of his ex team mates out of retirement for a low key kick together, players such as leon grosser, robbie mckinnon geoff morris and wilbur wilson. After a few frothies at the Milang darts community club the other night it was decided the score board would be named "The Mr Percivel Memorial Scoreboard" and the worlds largest pelican would be submitted to council to be built next to playground and foreshore asap.

This is my first post post here although a long time reader. Very informative site, always great reading. I couldnt resist any longer from making a comment about Callington, I have lived here for 30 plus years and I have to say that you have to live here to know what goes on at that footy club. Townies wont be put out by the change of name (reversion to original one), as we dont want them anymore and they aparently dont want us either. For years there have been no notices around town about any of the clubs doings, no 'players wanted', no training times, nothing. Its as though we dont exist and we dont know anyone that plays there.
From my point of view it used to be a great club, well run by people with heart, class players, good coaches etc, we were pretty chuffed as a town. 6 or 7 years ago now the wheels fell off, the club went their own way, they kicked out everybody that cared because those people didnt want hasbeens paid more than many of us get in a week, to just stand in goalsquares for 100 minutes.
Both my sons play elsewhere when once they used to live for the day they were old enough to get on an eagles jumper and be out there.
And as for 'helping them out', many have tried but its been rejected, they listen to no-one and go their own way. The only thing anyone knows about the eagles these days is a chook raffle at the local, or seeing players in there when they should be at training, its a joke. Just ask us locals.
RIP eagles I say.

Droversdog, [was a great pub ], maybe it's time for the 'townies' and the club to shake hands with each other and do what is right for both. time to put egos aside and do what is best for the community

How's this for good sportsmanship !!!!

The mighty Mt Barker under 13's I believe played 2 kids in thier country team in this mornings elimination final against meadows that have played central division all year and played central division yesterday. 2 kids missed out that have played country football all year. Steve the supercoach of the the Roo 13's country team you should be ashamed of yourself and your club. Thank god you are not involved in junior footy at our club. Wonder if the boys that missed out got a Roo Burger for their trouble. Despicable from an arrogant club.

Well said. Too easy. That's probably why it won't happen. Nice dream though.

Couldn't agree more. They don't want help from those that want to give it. They think they know best but where has it got them so far? Sure, a bit of media publicity might have seemed like a fun idea at the time but it just highlights the fact that they are, well, a bit of a joke really...
Take the name of Callington away. We don't want them to have it. Sure, it may give ownership to the side but how many people from Cally actually play for them?...or support them anymore?

Pure Gold today at Meadows

Never been at a final before where a gun player has rocked up in his car just has his team is warming up...I guess when you get your self on the Footy Show you just can't expect all your time to be available again..I guess after Micky had determined the election result, worked in a soup kitchen, shook hands at church, restablished the McDermott-Ashby foundation, helped several old ladies across the street and foiled a bank robbery its amazing he only missed the warm up.....

Having said that the bloke can play 8 goals from 8 kicks !!!

Fantastic work from the impact coach at three quarter time urging the troops to go short by hand, longer by foot and that the tongue was the easiest muscle to use....also great to see a coach wearing a tie again...massive respect for the club that he had ticked all the boxes for

Love the Country Division...never be a better chance for the Graham/Ashby juggernaut to make a Grand Final

Mount Barker has always done this to the fringe players and they now play for other clubs.

From the other side of the fence.
Congrats to Gumeracha, out played Maccy particularly in the first half. Total respect to our boys for their effort in the last half when they could have been easily blown out of the water and lost by 20.
On to the head coach. Lacks initiave, communication and teaching skills.
As a playing member of the Macclesfield Footbal Club I have been totally "Disgusted" of the efforts of the A grade coach, "SIMON JOHNSON" aka <edited by mods - don't reveal usernames!>. To not turn up to presentations after an elimination final, stinks. (Always been a front runner)
While Johno will say he pulled Maccy from the bottom of the ladder to the finals, what I will say is all he successfully did is put a divide through the club. The bloke plays favourites, won't talk to half the senior squad or committee members and quite frankly has an inept ability to lead.

Keep your eye out for an article in the Courier about how badly Maccy has treated Johno. Remember the author is his mate and its "Bull Sh*t".

For all those prospective clubs looking for a coach. "TOUCH HIM AT YOUR PERIL"

Funny how this topic has come up when it has. Wasn't this why United Eagles formed in the first place?
