As if that fat slug would make a return. He's as handy as an ashtray on a motorbike when it comes to footy.

Changing the subject, I hear former Berri and Renmark B Grade coach Robert Searle has been appointed Junior Development Coach for the new AFL Gold Coast Franchise. I was in shock when I heard. Can anyone confirm?

He has some role with the AFL. Not sure what it is though.

I wouldn't have thought he had the qualifications? Don't get me wrong, Searly is a good lad, but the position he has, surely would warrant someone with huge previous experience in that area. It is a huge job, especially as a new club coming in to the AFL and he is reponsible for the junior development, which would be one of the most important roles at the start of a franchise. At the end of the day, good luck to him. I'm just in shock.

The role is in junior development mainly in Auskick not with the new AFL Franchise.

Its about promoting the AFL code and organising volunteers and auskick program.

Full on role but he will be good at it with his organisation and business skills.

Thanks for clarifying SS. Good luck to him. Must be a good position for him to up and leave a successful business behind.
