you would hope that they would widen the talent pool further than raidis. no credentials as a coach and they would benefit from getting someone from outside the club ala stringer in the early years. if they are smart they would be approaching candidates now.

I can confirm the talks between Milang & Callington are coming along nicely!!

The idea would be for the Milang/Callington Eagles to be competitive in country div next year. With the extra water hitting the lower lakes Milangs bustling little economy accompanied with the government grants around the area there is more than expected support already for this venture.

A letter box drop to entice players and sponsors alike from all nearby towns such as Clayton, Belvidere, Brinkley, Salem, Hartley, Point Sturt, Brinkley, Finnis, Ashbourne, Paris Creek, Kuitpo Colony, Currency Creek, Woodchester, Kanmantoo, Monarto South and last but certainly not least boom town.. Wellington is due to go out subject to league merger approvals.

Facility upgrades are more than on the cards, they are being drawn on architectural plans

European settlement in the district began in the 1840s as pastoralists began to take up land between Strathalbyn and the Lake.

The township was surveyed in December 1853 and January 1854 with the first lots being auctionned in July 1854,

Milang experienced its heyday between 1860 and 1880 when it was a thriving port connecting the river trade from the Darling River and Riverina regions with Port Adelaide.

Today the town is known for its unhurried lifestyle, as a holiday destination with wonderful facilities for families and for the community spirit of the townspeople in their support of many cultural, environmental and rather succesful sporting organisations.

To play in the C grade? Hahndorf's C grade defeated Milangs C(A) grade by 24 goals. Not sure how the other teams have gone against them but I see all those towns you named have popluations of probably between 50 and 300. And how many of them could play football. So they might drop the 60 goal losses to 40.Milang should stay in the C grade and Callington should join them, merged or otherwise.

Breezer, your waffle is the biggest load of rubbish I've ever read on this site and I can't think why you have wasted your time on it. Let's get a few facts straight here before anyone else bothers with this nonsensical topic.

FACT:- No discussions about mergers are, have been or will be taking place between the two clubs. They have nothing whatsoever in common other than the use of an oval shaped ball.

FACT:- Milang doesn't appear to be "an experiment", nor does it seem to be part of any "farce". They are fielding a 'C' Grade side only and have nothing to do with Callington's misfortunes. At this time, 'C' grade comprises mainly of teams from Div 1 clubs, yet Milang appears to be more than competitive.

FACT:- 'C' grade results are readily available on the HFL website. One doesn't need glasses to note that Milang and Hahndorf last played against each other three weeks ago and the margin was 41 pts, not 24 goals.

FACT:- It seems Milang have won several games this year. This includes two from their last four, the most recent being last week against Onka Valley by around 7 goals.

FACT:- All clubs need to live within their means; Callington and Sedan-Cambrai are examples of those who don't. Don't knock clubs who do.

FACT:- Getting facts correct is always a good idea before posting anything on this site.

I don't know anything about your first fact Crumber but I would have to agree with all the rest. I play C grade and we've played Milang twice this year. They were the hardest side we've played this year and nearly knocked us over last time, and my club is a Div 1 club as you mentioned. They had a full bench unlike us and had some really outstanding talent, so don't laugh at Milang, they play a really good standard of footy, may they continue to do so.

I think we all know that the strength of tv has nothing to do its population base. The club is based on garys money, without it tv probably wouldn't be around today. They were struggling as a club before gary came with his wallet. I remember playing u17 against tv when gary came along, the player i was standing was only playing because gary bought him boots and gave him a tab at the canteen. I give gary credit for taking tv to the strong club it is today, but i can't help but wonder if the club will fall apart when he leaves. Its only a matter of time before his sons make him stop spending their inheritance!

I wish all teams had a "gary", [dont know who gary is, but if he puts money into a football club and makes them successful then he cant be a bad bloke in my books.] if they did then you wouldn't get the happenings that are going on in the under 17.5 Country DIV.. 3 weeks to the finals and MEADOWS have a bye, a forfeit, and a final game against Kangy. the 5th team have 3 wins,3 forfeits for 12 pts.[not their fault] The 6th team has 5 wins and a draw for 11pts. How could these situation have been avoided if you get rid of the Callingtons and the like. [It couldnt] As this situation have been 'caused' by Kersbrook, Sedan not having teams, and Maccy forfeiting due to lack of numbers. Thanks goes to Blackwood for putting in a team. I am not having a 'GO' at anybody, but just trying to point out that things are not always perfect, and some situations are not always as bad as they may appear. Yes, floggings arent good, but they happen in every league, to almost every team, sometime in their history.

If it's any consolation the constant floggings in the Southern league are a bigger disgrace.

Worked for maccy they are off the bottom & will hopefully play finals altho the depth of talent at the club is pretty concerning the under 15's make the finals last year then this year the 17's have folded its got me scratching my head
