Banker ... officially from HFL House ... Josh Francou has been cleared, whether he lines up tomorrow or next week, we'll have to wait and see. Apparently Mt Lofty has also secured the services of a past Sydney League player also with a bit of experience in the ranks at Central District. Further adding to depth at Heathfield. Gee ... some 16 guys missing out on a game. Guess that puts plenty of pressure on those selected, not like around five years ago, when if you rolled up you helped make the number closer to 18!! Reckon the Devils Super Cs may even give a few B-grade sides a run for their money?

Would say that this is true but from what I understand of it he will only be playing in games that aren't going to clash with his radio/media commitments which apparently is only about 3 or 4 games for the year that he will be available for. As it would happen though, one of those games is going to be against Macclesfield :(

hmm ok, i was under the impression he was only cleared this week though. Might check my sources again...

How are Uraidla and Onkas looking with numbers this week? Lofty has 16 players missing a game and IB has about the same, C Grade starting in 2 weeks apparently

I was chatting to a mate whose captain of lofty 17s and he was saying that poochy couldnt get a game this week?? IS it true? I always thought he was just as good if not better then his brother, he is a bit older though. Are lofty that strong???

Interesting to see Meadows losing there first game, Trent Shorland must have played good, when plugger gets fit he will carve any league, great player, and funny bloke along with tim knappstein. Sumbody was telling me who plays for Meadows that Brad Dubois got in the best??? They must be struggling big time if hes getting in the best. I would dead set back Jizz Mop out play him.. anyway ive never been happier, the real HFL footy starts this week (div 1) double blues are 2 and nil and meadows lost i am on cloud nine

Who's the ex-Sydney player? Is he available all year?
Francou wouldn't be able to play much due to his radio commitments.
From who's interested, I have absolutely no doubt that 2 or 3 of the 4 C grade outfits would push a lot of other B grade teams.
But I think a lot of the C graders would be guys that have retired or aren't committed this year.
The 2 week break between games is a good idea, and having it underlights every second round (I think that is correct) is a great move. Friday night footy!

From what I heard:

C grade - 8 Rounds - All double headers
Friday nights @ Mt Lofty & Onka's
Sundays @ Ironbank and Uraidla
Minimum 15 a side - 21 on the team sheet (even numbers on the oval)
Grand final for top two sides

A good concept that can only make the clubs involved stronger

Stronger...drinkers!
Good concept.
And there will still be some genuinely good players running around. Or jogging in spurts...

I might have missed it but will the C Grade be classed as HFL matches (eg umpires, rules etc) OR is it a private breakaway leauge?

Can only be a positive for all clubs involved, excellent money spinner aswell

As far as i know this new player at Lofty used to play for Centrals and is a friend of Artis, a very tall guy from what i saw last night, not sure if he came from Sydney though. That means that Lofty have at least 3 good quality ruckmans, if not more.

In regards to Poochie not getting a game, well it would be hard to break into that side at the moment, and especially considering he just moved back from Melbourne and last night was his first training session. Give him a couple more trainings and undoubtably he will be back in the team in the next couple of rounds.

With the strength of a couple of C-grade sides, can we introduce the much discussed promotion and relegation clause. Wot if the top side in the Cs takes the place of the bottom B-grade side. Just imagine, sides from either Uri, Devs, Onks or Thunders playing against each other. Brings back memories of Aus v Aus A cricket back a few years ago. Everybody luvs an underdog so the C boys would get a lot of support. Seriously though, it looms as a very good comp for those involved, chance for a few young blokes and those heading out to pasture to stay involved. Surely the more blokes playing footy, the better off we all are. Believe B-graders, except those who have started on the interchange the day before, are ineligible to 'double up' for Sunday games. Prevents anyone 'stacking' the side. Senior Colts are exempt.

How many other HFL clubs can boast of 3 (under 25yo) association players in their B's, plus another missing out altogether?

Phenomenal.

It's the wheel turning, DA.
Was overdue but most clubs go thru this at some stage.
Cheers, luvinfooty. I hadn't heard of the Centrals recruit.
Hope to see him suiting up then.
