Cheers Alaska, still a few more outer layers to go

Yeah there are a few blokes who were pretty unlucky last night missing out on an A grade possie, won't be long before the little Champ is back there though I don't reckon, more of a height issue I think for this week.

Red Muff back on the track for a kick and a catch, bit of work to do before getting a spot in the A's I'd say.

I can't wait to see Muffy and the other recruits in action!

Bring on Saturday!!!!

Pag wrote:I have absolutely nothing to do with the Hills league, but I've been working a bit at Nairne this week and the oval up there looks an absolute treat. Are all HFL ovals and clubs in that sort of shape? And bought a Courier at the general store, how good is the coverage in the paper? Half page write-up on the Div 2 games (with photos) and detailed season previews for both comps, would be nice if the Messenger got behind teams in the area like the Courier seems to for the HFL.

Fair call, the Courier does well in it's write ups and usually has a camera at each game. They do well.
Any other news from selection nights?
Any Barkeroos or Woods people out there that can shed some light?

I don't consider myself lofty - although being part of a premiership means hopefully i will always have friendships there.
When i said WE about coco it was meant in the third person. Coco meant WE as the mt lofty group.

Two very strong sides for Mt Lofty this week with more than 16 blokes missing out on a B grade game apparently. B Grade looking good with the likes of Cooper, Nielsen, Chapman, Davies, Paech all running round.

I was compelled to register and post upon seeing the old money issue is making headlines again. Funny that it seems that the only people that bitch about who is getting paid and how much are people NOT affiliated with the club they are bagging. In my experience I have nor have team mates begruged or even questioned anybody their match payements (then again all recruits I have played with have not been the money grubbing club slut type that are around the place, they have embraced the club and become mates with the locals). My opinion on money in footy is- salary caps at amatuer clubs are a farce, get over it, its survival of the fittest so if you are bitching about how much clubs are spending and how your club is 'honest'and spendthrift, get down to your local pub on thursday and friday night and sell some bloody meat raffle tickets and help increase your clubs coffers. A rich club is a hard working club. Secondly, if you have ever had a crack at league footy and survived a few pre-seasons, you have earnt the right to be paid a bit of coin. If you think it aint fair these blokes get a bit, toughen up and head down the freeway and give it a go. I garauntee any whingers will be quickly weeded out and sent packing.

Dangermouse i agree 100%, im not even involved in the comp up there. watched Lofty play a trial game and was very impressesd. Would loved to see them play Morphett Vale from SFL. From what i saw they are the best two teams running round. The reason i asked was that i heard, what i think is a rediculious amount, off near 100,000?

I spat the dummy about money talk a couple of weeks back and didn't want to comment so this talk would hopefully disappear, but I've got a big mouth and can't help myself.

SPOT ON dangermouse! Mt Lofty have been the hardest working club in the HFL for the last 2 years, and we've got the reward we deserve.

Case in point: I just spoke to El presidente who sorted me out a trainers pass (without me having to ask) and is going to drop it off to me! THAT'S the sort of hard work Mt Lofty is putting in. He is spending all of the day sorting out all the little (and some big) things required to get the club up and running tomorrow. THAT's hard work by our pres.

Anyone who's been at the Stirs on a friday night during the season will probably have been offered a raffle ticket by a Mt Lofty person. THAT's hard work by our pres and others.

Anyone who's seen our home change rooms will be amazed at the standard and cleanliness. THAT's hard work by our pres and many others who donated their time and materials.

Anyone who drove past Devil Park during summer and saw groundwork being done to improve the quality of the oval. THAT's hard work by our pres and many others.

Getting me off the balcony during the A grade (to stop me being a ballbag). THAT's hard work by our pres.

Moral of the story - HARD WORK gets you success, not money alone. Nobody can deny Coco and many at MLDFC the success we have WORKED for.

Great post dangermouse!

I wonder if there is much news from the Velodrome prior to round one? Rooster has been mighty quiet since the 30+ goal drubbing giving out to them by Barossa Districts on the weekend? I hope for their sake that they were not at full strength for that trial game, no one wants to see a team getting pummeled throughout the entire year, however unfortunately like most people within this forum I believe Birdwood will struggle for the next couple seasons. Gutsy move them stepping up to the big league though!

They're lucky they're getting Onkas early...I still reckon that it could be around the 12/13 goal mark at best.
