Of course this is all a big guess at this time of year as until you know who clubs have finally recruited / retained which you won't know until March at best you have no real idea how they will go .it has been the same for the last 40 years in Barossa footy

Right on the ball Gillo !! But thats the same with every comp mate not just the B L andG!!
If mail is correct !! Ango might of picked up 2 hired guns !! But that still leaves your beloved panthers at square 1 still .If i have seen right on the H.F.L site!! you have lost 2 Quality young players in tall FWD/RUCKMAN K Mclean and 07/08 import M Dannellie both have signed with a H.F.L. club i belive mate can you confirm that GILLO My Boy????????????

I see you are predicting your Tigers to take that extra step under Craig Dawe. Not sure what he has in his coaching repertoire that Brant doesn't.

FC there is additional protocol for talking to the King of Angaston

Great to here news from BLG house that all games against Angaston will now start at 4pm allowing sufficient time for the King to have a private audience with all opposition players, discussing appropriate protocol when there is a contested situation.

All of the other Panthers from junior colts through then lay down on the ground allowing the King to run out without getting his sprigs dirty until the actual start of the game.

Only the official currency 'the Dekker' will be able to be used at all Panther home games.

I am actually quite surprised the King is playing this year to be honest as I know the republicans were keen on the King, Mayor of Tanuda (a young lad who may have a bakery and butcher named after him) combination but had to settle for McCain

LONG LIVE THE KING

So Hafey does this mean Nuri are folding or moving to another league!!! Or do you just think they will be that bad they dont rate a mention!!!

Barossa will not be nearly as strong as last year, but I dont think they will be bottom... GC's have lost no players yet are reported to be filling their import allocations and gaining the return of some experienced local lads, so I dont think they will be down there either...

Im a little surprised at everyone jumping on the South bandwagon, they have been pumped up as big improvers the last 3 years, and every year they have failed to make the finals, and while they still rely on some of the lazy locals they have in the side they are always going to fall into the same traps...

Hafey, you have also places Willaston as big improvers, they have lost the 2 McCleans and Coghill, and at this stage not replaced them, and the Bakers are no certainty to stay (even though its more than likely)...

Freeling, well I havent heard of any recruits there yet, the supposed loss of of their current B&F, and I doubt whether any of their imports will hang around without Leal, its hard to see them making huge improvements this year, however, if the club focus on the juniors as stated in the paper, I think they have a lot to work with and could build to be contenders in 4-5 years!

Kapunda have had a few new players move into the area, but as to their ability I am none the wiser, I believe Valentine will be a local this year, but a lot seems to rest on the shoulders of a little few at Bomber land.

Ango, well I reckon we will just ahve to wait and see there. The group made some good improvement over the last 2 years, and have reportably signed a few good players, the loss of a couple to the hills is a concern. They always lift to another level on their own deck, but I think a lack of depth will catch them out!

Tanunda, well even if they lose a couple, they will still be the benchmanrk!!

So my prediction (which can easily change before the season starts) is as follows:

Tanunda
Gawler Central
South Gawler*
Barossa
----------------
Nuriootpa#
Angaston~
Kapunda
Willaston
Freeling

*South are a big risk there, I have my concerns, and they can finish as low as 6th.
#Nuri have been pretty quiet so far, it all depends if they continue to improve under the new coach (and whether the loss of a few players hurts them)
~Depth is a worry for Ango, if their 2 recruits dont dominate (and they wouldnt be the first to suffer in the BL&G) then I cant see any improvement, but give them benefit of the doubt

Anyway, love to hears anyone else thoughts, or whether they agree with my wrap up!

And note to those on here that make these thing into personal attacks, keep it to football conversation please!!

My basis is that the competition is not going to get any stronger in one season, perhaps it may weaken a little with Barossa losing some of their experienced local campaigners and an import spot.

This leaves tanunda on top and the door open for the Tigers if they can improve.

Unless some big dollars get thrown around in the Barossa or the Light to attract guns to fill the 3 to 6 import spots on offer, i am tipping those clubs will struggle and 2009 will bring a resergence of the Gawler teams. Possibly Nuri or Angaston to be the only improvers for the grape pickers.

Tanunda
Gawler Central
Ango
Barossa

South
Nuri
Kapunda
Willaston
Freeling

My tips, just think that South always promise a heap but deliver nothing, tipping Ango to improve but do worry about the loss of McLean.

Scott mac is a decent footballer where he play's now. The BLG is alot better than sals west ( If this is the same bloke). He would be a back pocket/flank that wouldn't star!!!!!

I think you'll find Slater will be haeding back to his former club in Gawler Central if he leaves SN...
Kym Vivian may also be heading back to the dog track from SN...
And theres a whisper Daniel Jenner is also due to return to the dog track...

Scott Mac played up forward most of this year and went pretty well as a medium-sized target, think he finished 3rd in Salisbury West's B&F.

Thought Danielle might move on as imports who are bought in by a coach often but not always follow when the coach moves on Heard young McLean was looking to play elsewhere to get some money to help as student life doesn't pay much , but Thought was talk of him playing in town so he didn't have to travel but cannot confirm anything.

In think gawler central should be looking at a good tilt at the flag this year. The u 18s made the gf and the league side bowed out just before the grannie. They have retained key players and with an injection of youth would be a big chance to take the flag!

I also heard a rumour that Kirk Heberle was offered a coaching position at a rival club, but turned it down to concentrate on his game this year....he is their key and is going to have a huge year!

Have to agree with you Wrag Doll about GC, with Barossa looking as though they will drop away they should step up. Sounds as though Barossa have retained the services of Sharpe who was offered big money at Wallaroo, Barossa did not meet their offer but Sharpe will be handsomly rewarded for his efforts.

Hey skipper what about the loss of gun M/F M Dannellie to the same H.F.L club as Mclean ,plus through in a below average B/grade team ,your mate coached for a return of 8 wins in 3yrs???? you seem to me ,to be an astute man of the B.L./G ,that means you should know that in country footy ,when the presures on with injury etc,etc its your 2nd tier players that wins games ,your beloved magpies have PLENTY,but im afraid ANGO has none,so take your mate Haddens cap off and put your smart non-biase cap back on champ !!!
I will have a stab at it ???

WILL

This will open a can of BL/G WORMS wont it boys and girls (note all top 4 have strong Bs/UI7s/U15s plus plenty of 2nd tier players running around in there As)
