So why is Nick Cook leaving Devil Land? And why would he go to Echunga of all places if the man is a gun as you say?

Don't worry chook I don't think people are being completely legitimate. Drinking Legend Though! Wolverine was right in saying the Echunga will become profitable. A strip club in Echunga would also be a genuine business investment now.

Anyone have trials over Easter or any this week organised?

Also did Kangarilla play Encounter Bay in a trial? Heard from someone they did and got beaten 19 goals something to 2 behinds. I didn't believe the guy so can anyone confirm or deny this please.

cheers guys. gone bit quiet lately.

May be a bit quiet lately, but the quality has been excellent.
If it is true that echunga aren't getting numbers @ training then that will be the difference come finals time. Sides that play finals train with numbers. Read my picks for final five they have the quality, depth and commitment from what i hear.
I also hear Hahndorf are struggling big time no numbers at training and no b grade coach.
Final positions for central div.
Mt Lofty Cash Converters
Uraidla Cabbage Co-Op
Onka's Revivalists
Blackwood Caravans
Ironbank Postage stamps
Lobethal Legends
Bridgewater Wee wackers
Mt Barker Star Force
Hahndorf Old School
Birdwood Pluckers
The top 3 will be miles ahead of the rest. The bottom 3 will be looking forward to 2008 already.

Seems to be a big gulf expected in Central between the top and the bottom.
General view is Lofty, Uris and Onkas at the front. Birdwood, Barker, Hahndorf at the bottom possibly including Shanty. In the middle Loby, Blackwood and Ironbank. Barker and Hahndorf seem to have fallen from grace pretty dramatically. Any reasons anyone for their woes?

Hahndorf - bit of an age thing I would think...changing of the guard.
Mt Barker - no heart or passion, lost players.
I think it'll be a cracker year, with Shanty and Ironbank (supposedly) big improvers with new players, the battle for the 5 should be good.
As much as I would love to see the Devs winning by the margins of last year, I can't see it, except against Birdwood.

Rumour has it that a 4 team C grade competition will be formed for this season. Mt Lofty, Ironbank, Uraidla and Onkas are said to be interested. Rumour also has it that the Mt Lofty combination may be coached by the one and only Perry "Chainsaw" Edwards. Will be interesting to see if this actually happens.

its a good idea having extra teams for these clubs (lofty, uri, onka IB ) to reward their numbers coming out to training, but wouldnt it be better to have these 4 teams turned into 2 and play them in the country division instead of just having the same 4 teams playing off each week, or another thought maybe not sure on other comps but couldnt we place these teams into say a sfl c grade comp seeing as the traveling distance isnt to great, just to allow for variety in competition

I know we had some discussion on this before but there seems to be no easy solution to the c-grade comp question. The guys that rock out to training for their club don't want to go and play with a bunch of other randoms from other clubs they get thrown together with each week. And a 4 team c-grade comp isn't too appealing. I would say that perhaps could each of the 4 teams chuck a 'C grade' team into country division b-grade a bit similar to Blackwood having 4 teams??? Otherwise the blokes that miss out could go and train at Mt Barker, Hahndorf or Echunga from what I hear on the forum..... :D

How about Blackwood get out of country div and put at least one side into c grade. One more team to make a six club comp. Play each other three times in a 15 round competition with a top four.

Boys lets be honest, it's C grade footy i.e. not a very serious form of the game. The fact that there might only 4 teams in the comp would be irrelevant, right?. Anyone throwing there hand up to play would just be keen on having a kick and a catch....and no doubt the social antics that may follow. I'd imagine if it goes ahead it could become a nice little affair on a sunday. A lot of the guys who played the previous day might come along for a look, laugh and a lager, not a bad way to spend a sunday arvo i'd imagine.

I agree with the social aspect.
But who the hell would go out and umpire these games?
The Country B grade idea isn't bad, but too late this year for that, surely.

Mt barker's woes come from the top @ the club, Bruce's attitude. Many long time players can't stand the guy from what i hear. Big Malcolm Williams loves him, need i say more.
