(wow, kersbrook knocked off hahndorf on the weekend. anyone have any info about it? did all their big recruits play? who dominated?)

The James Bros played.
A true indication of the game would be a win to Kersbrook by at least ten goals.

(RonBurgundy and Blueeyes pull the crap down about umpires before you get booted out of the forum. We should make it clear to everyone that we do not get personal to umpires, the numbers are getting that short that we will soon struggle to find enough to continue this great sport that we love.

You may not always agree with their decisions, but their are proper avenues to go down without ousting them in public and humiliating them. Pull your heads in !!! I am not an umpire and i often have to much to say to them but i respect what they do and realise that we need them. You blokes should have a good hard think about it !)

I had kids playing in that trial and if they had been injured because of the way he "umpired", and I use that term loosely, then I would be doing more than having a word to him after the game.
If someone is injured because of him then he and the Hills League as his employer had better have good insurers.

Attn Hills Footy Forum posters

Recently some umpires in the Hills Football League have been personally attacked on this forum. This will not be tolerated.
Feel free to diss the standard of umpires but the Hills League and others are struggling to find umpires and personally attacking them on here is only making things worse/harder for them.
Ive deleted one post that personally attacked 2 umpires, if people come across any other posts at any time that personally attack an umpire please PM myself or another mod and we'll delete the offending post, issue a warning and possibly look at bannings.

Cheers,

Wedgie.

They got done by about 5-6 goals by Tanunda, who by all accounts aren't supposed to worry the top five this year in BL&G.

Loby looked big and slow and their "big" recruit Hibbard looked ordinary.

How about Ben Dray? He must be one of the most well credentialled recruits in SA country this year.

Birdwood knocked of Hecotorville on the weekend by nearly 10 goal. true it was only an A6 side they were playing, but birdwood looked small and verrryy quick, plus they still have 4 or 5 of their top A graders to add into that side.
Apparently Onkas knocked off Nairne by only 5 goals or so aswell?? Plus Kersbrook seem to have thoroughly accounted for Hahndorf...?? is the gap shrinking between the two divs???

UMPIRES

Postby Alaska » Tue Apr 03, 2007 9:33 am

Well once again the topic was top of the agenda in last nights HFL shindig I understand.
This season every club will have to supply 2 HFL certified umpires each week for colts and B's.
If not the match is forfeited.
Fairly short notice to arrange certified umpires for the week after Easter for Country.
I can understand that the HFL are trying to put the pressure back on the clubs from where the most likely chance of picking up umpires will come.
However, will it not drive a wedge further between the clubs and the HFL where the clubs will need to try to keep their "certified" umpires and not want them to go to the Umpires panel?
Or even try and coax back umpires already on the panel?

Perhaps this is your chance DA to approach Coco with a proposition he now cannot refuse say $200 - $300 a game.
Could give you some drinking money for the A's. :partyman:

Also on the meeting I heard a Police task force was present and that they would be targeting the Hills leauge this season on grog being brought into grounds with car search's and the like.
This puts even more pressure on the poor volunteer at the gate to search cars in the rain with a line of vehicles disappearing down the road. Clubs are going to have to start hiring security guards. (perhaps another business opportunity)

Crumber once again I see the poor volunteers being undervalued and perhaps driven away? :axe:

from the people i have spoken to they reckon hibbard is one of the best shots at goal going around however if the ball isnt delivered on a platter the big fella isnt much chop. He doesnt like bending over and will just over run the footy and hope that the next one will be more to his liking. just what every team needs

Lads do you all get sick of hearing people bitch about players getting paid. Who cares what people get paid. As long as the club can afford it who cares. This forum has gone to shit. Im interested in hearing about how the trails went, how players played how other leagues compare. Stop dribbling on about money. If your club is poor become a volunteer and do something about it.

Okay then, so who played well for the Devs? Are SHOC a Div 1 team? A very fair effort if SHOC's were near full strength I'd have to say.

What about Hahndorf, did the have many players out?

I hear L Chapman and C hampton have been shredding in the B-grade trials, ominous signs there!

Also, anymore on this rumour of S Miles hading back to Devil land...surely it's all hear say!

SHOCS are a competitive div 2 side that has recruited alot of ex Glenelg players including Todd Winstanley, Nathan Woods and about 10 young players playing between the 19's and reserves.

Regardless of the number of players missing from Lofty they were alot harder and cleaner with the ball.

Not sure about Hahndorf haven't heard anything about them. Their coach is very experinced though so should get the best out of them.

kersbrook hahndy game was disgraceful. hahndorf only had 23 players avaliable for As and Bs combined to play 6 quarters. so hahndorf killed kersbrook in the Bs but lost convincingly in the As partly due to having already having played 3 quarters before the As started. wasnt a fair game and the brookers wont take much out of it but not overly encouraging for the pies

How can Hahndorf only have 23 players available for a trial? Were cricket finals still on? I thought they had finished. Surely this must mean that Hahndorf could be in a bit of trouble this year depth wise??

Gentlemen any word on Mt Barker? Expectations? Trials etc?

Rapper get over it mate, money is now a part of the game. It is what makes tha haves and have nots in this sport, personally and along with a lot of other club people are actually interested in the coin floating around and who may be on what and if they are worth it. You see the problem for some clubs is overpaying on poor performing imports etc and not getting a return on investment. Further more this impacts on the quality of the league as if a league/team is importing rubbish then the standard will drop. Its all related and again, its all a part of footy.
Mate if you personally dont like a certain topic then dont talk about it! Its a forum, otherwise create your own thread all about you and your ideas.
I enjoy the banter, sledging and chat amongst this forum, its far from shit.
