Bingo, one would have to question where these clubs think they are going to get the increased number of players required to grow their clubs. A spurt in the rabbit population will not be sufficient, nor in the population of the towns involved, it doesn't matter how many years they breed for!

If I read the results correctly I believe SC did win the senior colts game, so there maybe some hope there in the next couple of years and the B grade didnt get smashed

Basically both teams need a lot of money to buy players, as that is what country football has come down to these days. If you do noy buy players, generally you are not going to be around the mark. (obviously the ODD exception exists). Are salary caps to hard to enforce in the hills? i know the Barossa used to (or maybe still does) use the import system, where clubs doing well or had a larger town population were allowed less 'imports' (players who did not live near by) than clubs either doing poorly or had a town with a smaller population. After 3 years they become a local. I always thought that was a reasonably fair system (none are perfect). I think 35 points is massive and most clubs except maybe 2 or 3 would not fill that quota. I'm not professing know the right answer, just a couple of thought is all.

I agree, 35 points is way too much. Reduce the points and you're forced to foster your juniors and build your club. Few extra points for the strugglers, minimum for the top clubs. Barossa had similar idea with the import rule, but that is now replaced also by a points system. Salary cap has been tried and failed, too hard to police. The money clubs have to pay to be competitive is crazy. Imagine the facilities each community could have if that same money was reinvested in to the club, and not the pockets of players who often don't give much back in other ways.

Perhaps look at the way some of the Vic Country leagues are going? :)
Size of population and distance from the City decide the points.....the further away and smaller population the more points assigned. :D
Also allowing a point free Marque player adds interest. One B. Lade is making a mark in this area in Country Vic.

i played in country vic last year and that system is a shamble. the system is only good if you have $$$$. if you look at the cmfl, grfl, bendigo leauges and so on. alot of clubs in the so called further out areas spend stupid amounts of money on players and put little back into development just quick fixes. look at lalbert, nyah nyah west, ultima all power house clubs ran out of money lost jnrs now sittin firm bottom. which has put alot of clubs in trouble form the lack of jnr's getting a crack and leaving. then not having the money to sustain the influx of paid players.

thinking a system like the rmfl is more the need but it still has its down fulls eg large town clubs. maybe if a team sits bottom or bottom 3 for 2 years or more extra points could be added and visa versa for top clubs. but would that really help out a club like callington sedan or a lesser extent the clubs just above them prob not due to poor records. anyone who has tried to get players after being bottom or just above will tell you it freaken hard!

On a really positive note, Milang Panthers defeated Torrens Valley last night in 'C' Grade. They drew first blood within minutes and never lost the lead all night. It was a genuinely high standard game and a pleasure to watch. Milang were hard at the ball, found targets and looked fit and fast. They had plenty of support from their box and behind the fence, and a large, very chuffed contingency around the rooms after the game. All in all, an excellent example of country footy at its' best. Well played boys!

I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.
